Olivia Smith was beside herself with anxiety.
What did Edward Smith an by this? Just because she wasn’t his biological sister, did he have to go to such lengths to eradicate her?
Had his conscience been eaten by a dog?
Even if she wasn’t his biological sister, they had been siblings for thirty years. Did he really have to be so heartless to her?
Just then, the elevator doors opened again, and several uniford police officers stepped out, holding a photo.
They glanced at the photo first, then looked at Olivia, and walked over.
"Hello, you are suspected of theft. Please co with us."
Olivia’s face changed abruptly. When the police took out handcuffs to arrest her, she imdiately hid behind Thomas Smith, "Second Brother, save ."
Thomas sheltered Olivia tightly behind him, looked at the police in front of him, and said:
"Officers, this is my sister. I don’t know what cri she’s supposed to have committed, but no one from the Smith Family would stoop to theft."
Thomas specifically ntioned the ’Smith Family.’
As a conglorate in Southeast Asia, with a reputation on par with Greece’s Jones and Hall Clan enterprises, the Smith Group moved its headquarters to Greece, greatly impacting GDP and economic stimulus there.
The Smith Family and the Smith Group have been frequently reported in the news recently. He did not believe these police officers hadn’t heard of them.
He thought that once the police knew he was from the Smith Family, they would stop trying to arrest Olivia.
It’s normal to think that people from the Smith Family wouldn’t stoop to theft.
Yet, the officers showed not a trace of hesitation. Instead, they said:
"We received a report from Mr. Edward Smith, stating that his secondary card was fraudulently used. After tracking and investigating, we found that at the ti, the person who used Mr. Smith’s secondary card was this lady."
They showed Thomas a photo taken from surveillance, then put it away.
"Miss, please co with us. If there’s any misunderstanding, bring a lawyer to the Police Station. This is an arrest warrant."
Speaking so, they ignored Olivia’s cries and cuffed her.
"I won’t go. I didn’t steal. Edward Smith is framing . Second Brother, save , save . I don’t want to go to the Police Station, I don’t want to go, Second Brother..."
Thomas blocked the police officers’ path, his face stern, and said:
"That secondary card is one that Mr. Edward Smith gave . The card she used is one I gave her. She didn’t steal."
The officers looked at Thomas flatly and said firmly:
"Sorry, what Mr. Edward Smith told us is different. As I said, if you have any objections, you can speak with Mr. Edward Smith or get a lawyer to bail her out. However, since the amount used on the card is huge, Mr. Edward Smith’s opinion is crucial."
Then, he told the other two officers: "Take her away."
Olivia panicked, her face shockingly pale, crying out to Thomas for help:
"Second Brother, save . Second Brother, I didn’t steal. Edward Smith is framing . Second Brother, save ..."
Olivia cried heart-wrenchingly, and her helplessness made Thomas’s heart ache faintly.
Once more, he blocked the officers’ way and said:
"I won’t allow you to take her. This matter is a family affair of the Smith Family. We’ll handle it ourselves. No need to trouble the police."
