Chapter 171: 171. Smile like an old fox_1 Chapter 171: 171. Smile like an old fox_1 Elly Campbell’s heart involuntarily trembled a bit at the mont he fastened her seatbelt for her, quietly retracting her gaze, “Thank you.”

She thanked him stiffly, her expression sowhat unnatural, and without looking at Adam Jones again. Adam was surprised by her unexpected thank you, raising an eyebrow slightly and casting a glance toward her downcast eyes, then lifting his hand to his lips to suppress a slightly upturned smile.

When Adam Jones took Elly Campbell ho, William Campbell had already been picked up by Lynn Clark.

“Madam, you’re back.”

Upon hearing the sound of the fingerprint lock disengaging, the nanny, Lynn Clark, popped her head out of the kitchen to greet her, and imdiately noticed the tall, handso figure helping Elly.

“Mr. Jones?”

A glint of pleasure swept across Lynn’s eyes. She put down the vegetables she was washing, stepped out of the kitchen, and, without noticing Elly’s less than nimble movents, addressed Adam with a soft voice, “I’m cooking dinner; Mr. Jordan, would you like to stay and eat with us?”

Elly, standing to the side and observing Lynn’s enthusiastic deanor, couldn’t help frowning, “Lynn.”

Lynn detected the displeasure in Elly’s tone and looked taken aback. She quickly explained, “Madam, seeing that Mr. Jones ca ho with you, I just asked if I should cook an extra portion for him. You see…”

Elly’s eyes carried a thoughtful gaze as she looked at Lynn for a few seconds, then indifferently withdrew her gaze, saying, “Mr. Jones rely did a good deed by bringing ho, he won’t be staying for dinner.”

“Oh… okay.”

Disappointnt was unavoidably evident in Lynn’s eyes; then she looked apologetically at Adam, whose expression was inscrutable, as if to say she wished he could stay, but since Elly didn’t allow it, she was powerless to insist.

“Then, madam… I’ll go back to cooking.”

While her words were directed at Elly, her eyes lingered regretfully on Adam, who, at that mont, wasn’t even glancing her way.

As she turned to walk back to the kitchen, she heard Adam’s low voice tinged with a hint of displeasure, resounding in the living room, “Doing good?”

Soft laughter followed from Adam’s mouth, “Elly, I didn’t expect that I’m still such a good person in your eyes.”

Elly looked up at him with a detached gaze and retorted sarcastically, “What, President Jones, you do good deeds and don’t expect a thank you?”

“Shouldn’t I?”

He sat down on the couch opposite Elly, legs casually crossed, displaying a mix of nonchalance and laziness, yet with an air of regal authority.

His eyes, dark and slightly squinted, looked casually at Elly, saying, “Elly, I’m a businessman, and a successful one at that. Businessn chase profits, and I’ve never been involved in charity in anything I do.”

He moved his thin lips, smiling at Elly, and that mischievous glint in his eyes made her feel like his intentions were anything but good.

“That’s true, President Jones isn’t just a successful businessman, but a successful scoundrel as well.”

Elly nodded in agreent, her eyebrows arching as she looked at Adam, “So, President Jones, today you’ve been so ‘generous and kind-hearted,’ taking to the doctor and personally bringing ho, I wonder how you expect to repay you?”

His smile, sly as a fox, made Elly want to punch him.

Adam watched her with amusent, tapping the armrest of the couch with his knuckle, as if contemplating how Elly should repay him.
