Chapter 1283: Record the minutes
He believed that with his capabilities and charm, he could turn this “trial” into a lifeti.
Elly Campbell, of course, was unaware of the conversation her mother had with Professor Ford in the back garden. When the two returned, everything seed normal, but Elly still sensed sothing was different.
Without anyone having to say anything, rely by the glint in Professor Ford’s eyes, Elly could tell that he probably had his long-awaited mont of clarity.
After learning that Jenna Clark had been brought back, the police dispatched more personnel to take Jenna’s statent.
“Mrs. Clark, could you please recount to us in detail what happened that evening?”
“Sure.”
Recalling the events of that day, Jenna Clark’s eyebrows furrowed slightly.
“I was attending an academic exchange dinner with Professor Ford when I got a strange phone call. It sounded like my daughter, so I thought it was her…”
She paused for a mont, “The voice was so much like my daughter’s that when she said she needed urgently, I went outside.”
“But as soon as I left the hotel and before I saw anyone, I felt a jab at my waist, probably an anesthetic, and then I passed out…”
“When I regained consciousness, I was locked in a room. Apart from soone coming regularly to bring food, there was no one else.”
While recording, the police continued to question Jenna Clark, “Are you saying that during this ti, the perpetrator didn’t speak a single word to you, nor did they convey any information regarding your abduction?”
“Correct.”
Jenna Clark nodded and continued, “I also find it strange what their purpose was for kidnapping . Yesterday, they suddenly ca over, drenched in blood, then knocked out. When I woke up, I was at the Jones Family residence.”
This was Elly Campbell’s first ti hearing Jenna Clark describe her entire abduction process, which only deepened her previous suspicions.
“Mom, Uncle Ford said that when he ca out of the hotel to look for you, he saw soone in that car with a profile similar to mine. Do you rember this?”
Jenna Clark fell silent for a mont, then shook her head, saying:
“I was drugged as soon as I stepped out of the hotel entrance; I didn’t see anyone.”
During this ti, the police asked several other questions, but they essentially got no further information regarding the kidnapper from Jenna Clark.
Later, Jay Wood reported to Adam Jones:
“President Jones, we’ve investigated Jas Campbell. During Mrs. Clark’s abduction, he was gambling in Albany’s casino all the ti. The casino surveillance shows that in those few days, Jas Campbell didn’t leave the gambling table and there’s no evidence of him having contacted anyone.”
Upon Jenna Clark’s abduction, Adam Jones had imdiately ruled out all likely individuals involved, ultimately suspecting Jas Campbell the most.
After being ousted from the Campbell family, and Elly’s offering him only a billion in compensation, it was possible he might seek revenge.
But the current investigative results pointed away from Jas Campbell, and while he was suspicious, this outco was not particularly surprising.
After all, Jas Campbell’s capabilities were limited; he could not pull off such ticulous details.
Jay Wood, unsure of what Adam Jones was pondering, continued:
“We will continue to investigate the kidnapper’s whereabouts. However, now that Mrs. Clark has returned, the perpetrator might have considered the Jones Family’s influence and released her. If the kidnapper backs off now, it will be even more difficult to gather evidence…”
As he was speaking, he saw servants usher in a few more individuals in police uniforms, their expressions showing a certain degree of discomfort.
