Chapter 1071: 1071. You had another argunt with your sister-in-law? Chapter 1071: 1071. You had another argunt with your sister-in-law? Christopher Moore’s heart was in conflict.

So when she wasn’t going overboard, he still tried his best to let her be.

Earlier, when she went to find Elly Campbell, Christopher’s attention was also entirely on her side.

Although he couldn’t hear what she talked about with Elly, he still breathed a sigh of relief when he saw her coming back with a dark face, even though there had been no argunt with Elly in the end.

Seeing Lily Jones walking back, he found an excuse to leave the group of people he was with and then, putting his arm around Lily’s shoulder, walked to the side.

He lowered his voice and asked, “Did you have a fight with your sister-in-law again?”

He tried to soften his voice as much as possible, not wanting Lily to feel like he was blaming her.

Upon hearing this, Lily looked up at him, gave him an annoyed roll of the eyes, and said,

“In your eyes, do I always go to Elly to pick a fight?”

Christopher was taken aback, thinking that was indeed the case.

But seeing the obvious discontent on Lily’s face, he swallowed the comnt.

With a smile, he reached out to pinch Lily’s cheek and whispered,

“No, I just saw you storming back and thought you had fought with your sister-in-law and lost again.”

Lily: “…”

What a peculiar use of the word “again.”

She snorted coldly in her heart but still explained to Christopher,

“I went to ask her sothing, didn’t argue with her.”

As she spoke, she paused, adding sowhat self-deprecatingly,

“I’ve been driven out of the Jones Family by my brother; how would I dare to argue with her?”

Besides, now that her brother was also not treating Elly well, she was secretly pleased.

Nevertheless, for so reason, when she saw the rumors about her brother and Sophie online, Lily didn’t feel the satisfying sense of vengeance she had expected. Instead, she felt sothing was off.

Hearing her tone, Christopher knew she really hadn’t argued with Elly.

Looking at his usually willful wife suddenly becoming so sensible, Christopher’s heart was filled with mixed emotions.

He had always hoped that she could live carefree like before she got married, with him around she wouldn’t need to be sensible.

But now, because of his own furious demand for a divorce, his wife had suddenly beco “sensible,” and it did not sit well with him.

He felt like he had broken his promise, not allowing her to continue living the carefree, “senseless” life.

Lily had no idea what was going through Christopher’s mind as she saw him looking at her with a complex gaze, feeling a bit uneasy.

After a hesitation, she said, “Don’t just stand here watching . I won’t go to Elly to pick a fight.”

Christopher was amused by her words, lifted his hand to hook her nose, and said,

“Can’t I just stay here to keep you company? Who said I was worried about you picking a fight with your sister-in-law? Besides, you can’t win against her anyway.”

Lily: “…”

She glanced coldly at Christopher, silent.

“Alright, alright, I was just joking. You can’t win against your sister-in-law; it ans you’re more gentle than she is.”

He whispered this into Lily’s ear, which inexplicably made her ears turn red.

During this ti, several people ca to chat with Christopher, and since Lily wasn’t very good at talking with these people, she sent Christopher away.

After Christopher left, Lily turned and found a place to be alone.

Her gaze landed on Sophie Baker, who was mingling with a group of ladies not far away, and Lily’s look was sowhat complicated.

From the mont she entered the banquet hall with Christopher, she had spotted Sophie from a distance.
