~Lisa’s POV
When we left Mother’s resting place, my heart was heavy but peaceful. Thorne walked beside quietly as we made our way to Father’s tomb. The air was still, the scent of the woods calm and strong.
We stopped before the old stone. Thorne knelt first, touching the carved na with trembling fingers. I followed, bowing my head.
"Father," Thorne whispered, his voice thick. "This is Lisa."
My eyes burned as I placed my palm on the stone. "Father," I murmured. "If you were here, you’d know how lost I was. But I’m ho now."
When we were done, Thorne looked at with a small smile. "Let’s go, little sister. You look tired."
He was right. I was. My body felt drained, like sothing inside was pulling in two directions.
Back in the palace, I barely made it to my room before collapsing on the bed. "I think I need rest," I said quietly.
Lira followed in, her expression unreadable. "Before you rest," she said softly, "soone asked to give you this."
She handed a folded letter.
My brow furrowed. "A letter? From who?"
Lira hesitated. "From Damon."
My heart skipped. "Damon?" I said quickly, sitting up. "You saw him?"
She nodded. "He didn’t speak much. He only asked that I give you this."
I snatched the letter before she could say another word, my hands trembling as I tore it open.
The first words made my throat tighten.
"Lisa, I’ve missed you more than I can say..."
My eyes ran over the lines, each word piercing . He asked how I was, if I was eating well, if I was safe. Then, his tone changed, softer, heavier.
He wrote that they knew they had hurt , that Kael and Rowan regretted everything. That all they wanted now was forgiveness.
And then the last part hit like a blow to the chest.
"...Even if you don’t want to stay with us anymore, please, I beg you, save my brothers. They’re dying, Lisa. The rejection bond is killing them."
I froze. My heart began to pound loudly in my ears.
"The rejection bond..." I whispered. "It’s... killing them?"
Lira stepped closer. "You didn’t know, did you?"
I shook my head quickly, tears blurring my vision. "No. I...I didn’t. I didn’t an to hurt them. I just wanted to be free."
Before I could think twice, I jumped to my feet. "Get a guard!" I shouted.
A maid rushed out imdiately. Lira looked alard. "Lisa, what are you doing?"
"I have to go," I said breathlessly. "I have to see them."
The guard returned. "My lady?"
"Get a horse," I ordered.
It was my first ti riding one, but I didn’t care. As soon as they brought it, I climbed up, gripping the reins. My energy flowed through , steady and fierce. The horse obeyed like it had known forever.
"Lisa! Wait!" Lira called after .
But I didn’t stop. I couldn’t. My heart was pounding too fast.
The wind hit my face as I raced through the forest. Trees blurred past . My only thought was Damon.
When I reached the palace gates, the guards instantly bowed. "My lady," one said, eyes wide. "You may pass."
I didn’t even slow down. I leaped off the horse and ran inside.
And then I saw them.
The three brothers were sitting outside, looking pale and weak, shadows of the powerful n I once knew. My heart clenched seeing them like that. Damon’s eyes lifted first, and for a mont, he just stared at like he couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Then he stood up so quickly that the chair behind him fell.
"Lisa..." he breathed, his voice breaking.
I didn’t think. I just ran to him. My feet moved on their own. And when I reached him, I threw myself into his arms. His warmth hit first, strong, familiar, safe.
"Lisa..." he whispered again, holding so tight it almost hurt. "You’re really here."
Tears burned my eyes. "You fool," I said, my voice shaking. "You didn’t tell ... You didn’t tell what was happening to you."
He pulled back just enough to look at . His eyes were red-rimd and tired, but full of so much love that it made my chest ache. "Would you have co if I told you?"
I swallowed hard, not knowing what to say. Maybe I would have. Maybe not.
Before I could answer, he cupped my face, his hands trembling slightly, and then his lips found mine. The world disappeared.
The kiss was desperate, full of all the pain, the regret, the longing we had buried for long. I kissed him back, clutching his shirt as if letting go would kill . His hand slid to the back of my neck, deepening the kiss, and for that mont, everything felt right again.
When we finally pulled apart, both of us were breathing hard.
"Lisa..." he whispered, his forehead resting against mine. "I missed you so much. I thought I’d never see you again."
I blinked back tears, my voice small. "I missed you, too."
A soft voice interrupted us. "You look... different," Rowan said.
I turned to him, realizing both he and Kael were standing now, watching us. Their faces were pale, their eyes tired, but there was sothing like pride in their gaze.
"Stronger," Kael added, his lips curving into a weak smile. "Like a goddess."
I stared at them, anger flashing through my tears. "If not because of Damon," I said coldly, "I wouldn’t have co back."
They lowered their heads imdiately. "We know," Rowan said. "We’re sorry for what we did. Truly."
Kael nodded. "We’d give anything to take it back."
Damon turned gently toward him. "We’re ready to make it up to you, Lisa. Any way you want. Just... stay."
Before I could answer, a sudden sharp sound echoed behind us, like sothing cutting through the air.
Rowan gasped.
"Rowan?" I turned and froze.
Fridolf was there, a dagger buried deep in Rowan’s chest.
"NO!" I scread.
Blood-stained Rowan’s shirt as he stumbled. I realized, in horror, that Fridolf’s real target was . Rowan had pushed aside at the last second.
Damon caught as I fell to my knees. "Rowan! Hold on!"
Kael lunged forward, but Fridolf moved fast, faster than I expected. He flipped Kael over and, with a cruel smirk, drove the dagger into his side.
"KAEL!" Damon roared, eyes flashing red.
My heart shattered. I could taste the rage in my mouth, burning like fire.
I stood slowly, trembling. "You..." My voice shook with fury. "You’ll regret that."
Fridolf turned to , sneering. "You think your little powers scare ...."
He didn’t finish.
I lifted my hand, and the wind roared to life, slamming into him with such force that he flew across the courtyard and crashed into the wall. Stones cracked under him.
He tried to stand, coughing blood. "You..."
I flicked my wrist. Flas burst from my palm, twisting in the air before striking him full-on.
His scream filled the air. The fire swallowed him whole.
When it was over, there was nothing left but ashes and silence.
I fell to my knees beside Rowan and Kael, shaking.
