Can’t I just take his head off?

Killian heard his beast growl in his head. He was not happy with Seth, and it must have been quite obvious because Seth smiled a little and said to him, "I know that your beast is not happy with . But this is important: those two won who are locked up in prison might not even be involved with the murder, and this visit to the Silver Dawn pack can help us with the case. Or would you like to see those two be executed for sothing they didn’t even do?"

"You are asking for justice from soone who cares the least about it, Seth." Killain shut the report and got to his feet. He had important things to do, such as hunting down a silly little fish who had no idea how ruthless the world was. However, he hadn’t even turned around when Seth placed the teacup in his hand on the table and stated coldly, "I think that there was a misunderstanding. I was not asking you; I was ordering you. I have already made all the arrangents; all you need is to visit the Silver Dawn Pack."

"Seth—"

"You owe , Killian." Seth got to his feet. His silvery eyes stared at Killian like he could see the future, and maybe he could see it, as Killian had heard that Seth was the descendant of an angel.

"You really have to be fucking kidding . There are countless motherfucking bastards who would willingly lap this opportunity that you are handing to . So why ? Why not them?"

"Because you are the only one who will not be shaken up by the bribes that the Silver Dawn Pack might hand over to the rest of the elders. You know they care little about the life or death of the innocents," said Seth with a calm tone. "As long as they can get so benefit that might suit them a little..." He humd with a tilt of his head. "They might just ignore the lives of those who are trapped inside the prison cell. So, compared to them... you are a much better option."

"Seth–"

"We will take on this mission," before Killian could refuse, Finn stepped forward and spoke with his voice laced with charm.

A growl built inside his chest. I am not going to the Silver Dawn pack; Inez is missing. Do you think that I have the ti to investigate this pack?

You are forgetting that Lola had a grudge with Inez; Finn pack-linked directly to him. His voice was simply pragmatic. What if her disappearance has sothing to do with Lola? Think about it clearly, Kill. Seth will not make you do sothing for no reason since he is insistent on it... Maybe there is sothing that he knows, but he cannot tell you directly. As the head of the council and his murky identity... he needs to be careful.

Killian felt his shoulders relax a little. Yes, Lola had a deep feud with Inez; perhaps that woman was the one linked to his mate’s disappearance.

His gaze drifted over to Seth. The man was still standing in front of him without any expression on his face, but his eyes were all too knowing for Killian to ignore. Did he really know sothing? Would going to the Silver Dawn Pack really help him trace down Inez?

"Alright, since you have already made arrangents, then who am I to refuse? I can only follow your command."

Inside the prison, Inez couldn’t sleep, not even for a second. Every ti she closed her eyes, her mind would bring up images that she didn’t want to see or rember. Either it would be the wound-covered face of her father, or it would be the eyes of her mother, who stared at her with hatred. She could now understand why her mother hated her. In fact, it would be correct to say that she didn’t hate her for being a siren but because she resembled her father way too much.

Your mother was ruined and broken. Your father disappeared.

All because the witch wanted him too.

Her fingers clenched and unclenched. So, this was why her mother despised her father and her. Because she blad her father for her downfall.

And her father... if he was still alive, then there must be a trail.

The thought was like a fla turning wild, and she couldn’t ignore it. Inez sat up straight and shifted close to the bars. After the prisoner finished speaking about her father, he once again returned to his corner and stopped talking. Scarlet said to her that the man was mad and she shouldn’t take his words seriously, but she couldn’t stop herself. Not when this man was the only one who had provided her with the link to the past that she had forgotten.

She raised her head and looked in the direction of the man, only to notice the prisoner watching her with eyes like dying embers.

"Tell ," she whispered, finally cracking under the curiosity that was burning within her heart. "Give sothing. A clue. Anything to find my father. You knew him, right?"

His laugh rasped low in his throat. "You are his daughter, alright. Always chasing the tide. The unknown. He often said that the thrill was what kept him alive."

Scarlet stirred beside her. She slowly sat up straight and looked at Inez, who was staring at the prisoner. Feeling uneasy, she pulled Inez behind. "Don’t listen to him. He is dangerous."

But Inez pressed on. "Please tell sothing, anything."

The prisoner tilted his head as if listening to the voices which only he could hear. Then he began to hum, ignoring Inez and Scarlet. He started humming a song that made Inez even more annoyed. She raised her hands, which were tied in restraints, and banged hard on the bars. "Tell ! You know sothing, don’t you? So why not tell the truth—"

"Wait, listen to him," said Scarlet as she hushed Inez and asked her to listen to the song.
