Chapter 970: Joining Together

The berserk elephant cald its anger in the face of Xu Feng and Carn. Having been fed properly, the elephant swung its long nose as a way to bid farewell to them.

“Goodbye,” Carn waved her hand in return.

“If you want to search for the culprit, they’re all gathered on that side.” She then pointed sowhere else.

The elephant seed to understand her words and made so cheerful noise.

In an instant, it turned its trajectory and dashed away in the direction Carn pointed.

“So naughty.” Xu Feng chuckled softly and shook his head.

“Wouldn’t you have done the sa thing?” Carn spread her arms. She held a delicious, evil grin on her face.

Xu Feng kept a straight face. “No, I would have sent it to a more dense and crowded area.”

Once he finished his statent, Floral Witch and Azalea managed to walk up to them. Their mouths twitched as soon as they heard the conversation.

Initially, they thought Carn was devious enough to send the elephant toward other players, but they never imagined that Xu Feng was worse.

He actually wanted to direct the elephant to a more crowded area!

As expected, the people of Vanguard Guild were a bunch of crazies.

“Um, I’m curious. Why did the berserk elephant ignore you?” Floral Witch asked.

Azalea nodded her head, seemingly indicating that she was curious as well.

Throughout the journey, they had encountered many players being chased and killed by the elephants.

They were also attacked, but not as fiercely as so other players. This made her sowhat relieved and baffled at the sa ti.

Why did the monsters not chase after them?

Why were the monsters extrely fierce toward the others?

Before Xu Feng could answer her question, Carn suddenly stepped forward.

She extended her hand and waved it a few tis.

Confused, Floral Witch tilted her head slightly. ‘What does she an?’

Seeing how lost Floral Witch was, Carn sighed and said, “Money fee. You want answers, then you should pay for them. Or do you think information is free?”

Floral Witch: …

Azalea: …

Xu Feng: Hahaha

Yes, he laughed heartily when he heard Carn demanding paynt. This was exactly the thing he did to her once she got the hang of the Divine World.

There were no more free answers to complicated questions. Though it never mattered because he always ended up answering her questions anyway.

“How much do you want then?” Floral Witch smiled awkwardly and asked.

“How much do you think the information is worth?” Carn returned the question.

‘My goodness. She’s really taking after .’ Xu Feng was truly stunned by the bargaining skill. ‘I’m so proud. This is my Guild Commander!’

Soti later, Floral Witch ended up paying 50 silver coins and received an answer that she wanted to refund right away.

“I don’t know.” Carn shrugged.

“But you accepted my paynt.” Floral Witch took a deep breath.

“You asked a question and I answered. The deal’s done.” Carn rolled her eyes. “You never stated the answer must be correct or anything.”

Stunned, Floral Witch found herself speechless by such shaless behavior.

Would she have paid if the answer was this ridiculous?

Wasn’t it the norm that if you accepted a fee for a question, then the answer must be satisfactory?

“Alright, you can stop teasing the branch leader.” Xu Feng mused and patted Carn’s shoulders.

“The berserk elephants didn’t target us because our hands are clean. Sparkly clean!”

“Sparkly clean?” Floral Witch paused and pondered for a mont.

“You an that you haven’t killed any of the monsters in the field?” She asked in an alard tone.

It was hard for her to believe that they were able to remain unscathed in a field filled with monsters.

“Well, not all.” Xu Feng promptly corrected her. “We never made a move against monsters who weren’t hostile toward us.”

After hearing that, Floral Witch was finally enlightened.

It was no wonder many players were being chased relentlessly and killed.

‘Driftcore’s representative Shaun was killed in a brutal manner because of his high kill count.’ Floral Witch realized that many players who were suffering were those who had killed wantonly.

However, they didn’t kill wantonly and only had a few bloods on their hands. Maybe this was why they were able to escape after a while.

“By the way, we’re still searching for the exit path.” Xu Feng suddenly changed the topic. “Since you didn’t get targeted by the previous berserk elephant, I reckon you heeded my advice. So shall we join and search for it?”

The field was too big, and Carn’s mana was running low from summoning so many voidlings to scope around.

They were able to roam around freely without being targeted. Unfortunately, the voidlings weren’t perceived as neutral to the berserk elephants, so they were all killed when encountering one.

Hence, Xu Feng lacked the necessary manpower to increase the search range.

To encounter Floral Witch could have been fate, especially when it showed that she had indeed listened to his advice. To simplify, it was a good chance for them to nd the sour relationship.

Floral Witch readily agreed to the suggestion. “That’s perfect. I’ve already sent my people to scatter around. The right side region has been cleared.”

“The center region was also cleared.” Xu Feng chid in and turned his attention to the left. “I suppose it’s ti to head toward the left region to check things out.”

Once the two parties joined up and concluded that the left region was the only place remaining, the two parties hastened their speed.

As they traveled, Floral Witch couldn’t help but ask, “By the way, how did you know that killing the monsters in this round would trigger a severe backlash?”

“I didn’t know,” he shook his head. “I only guessed based on the system’s prompt. It’s too abnormal.”

“Are you talking about the part where we’re given a choice to kill or avoid?”

“Mhmm, we’re all veterans here. Why would the system bother telling players they have choices to choose? There must have been a trap concealed in it.”
