Chapter 949: Resonance Shard
KABOOM!
A beautiful mushroom cloud of smoke appeared on the battlefield and Xu Feng admired the scene joyfully.
“Phew, these elites are really tough to handle.” He heaved a sigh of relief.
Despite having everything going under his plan and calculation, there were multiple instances where he nearly failed.
Thankfully, both sides decided to underestimate him severely and thought he was just a weak healer. Had it not been for their prejudice, then Xu Feng wouldn’t have been able to play them like a fiddle.
Nevertheless, after this incident, Xu Feng was certain things would only beco tougher in the future.
“They are definitely going to spread this news.” He muttered.
Suddenly, he curled his mouth upward and grinned evilly. “But then again, all the heat would be directed to dear Reckonizer. Oh, I can’t just wait to hear his excuse in trying to deny being the healer who sabotaged Driftcore.”
This was the final plan on his mind: to shift all the bla to another person.
Reckonizer was an independent player on the surface and made many connections, but who could have imagined he was actually affiliated with the Malefic Order Guild?
More importantly, this highly classified information was given to him by Evelyn.
All that for what?
Just to beco friends with his alias, Cool Wind.
Such a wonderful deal was really hard to let go.
However, the beautiful thing was that even if Evelyn tried to deny or defend Reckonizer, there was no way she would admit publicly that she had shared the information with him.
First of all, the contract was only in his hand—sothing he had demanded.
Secondly, she wouldn’t have any concrete evidence.
Lastly, this group of players that he screwed over had never seen his face. He was wearing a Stealth Cloak from start to finish to conceal his appearance.
‘Ahh, it’s really troubleso to be that lucky.’ Xu Feng inspected the battlefield. Once he confird that the players were dead, including the Swamp Alligator, he swiftly rushed over.
As expected, there was sothing shiny on top of the ground.
Without hesitation, Xu Feng quickly retrieved the item from his inventory. He didn’t even need to read the description because he knew it was a Resonance Shard.
The Resonance Shard would co in handy and assist him once the trial was successfully completed.
‘I should probably et up with Carn and see if there are more Resonance Shards.’ He sensed the link of the Ethereal Tether and began to make haste.
Carn should have also tried to et up with him once she noticed her health points were dropping.
Ti quickly went by, and the player number count hovered at 74. It appeared that most of the weaker players had been eliminated.
Now, the remaining 74 were all treading cautiously and avoiding any sort of fighting for as long as possible.
The passing requirent was 50, which ant only 24 players needed to be eliminated. And nobody wanted to be a part of those 24 numbers.
Alas, the System must have anticipated such a move as the vast field started to shrink.
Of course, the field didn’t shrink by itself, but there was a blazing lava that started to close in on them.
Those who were caught by the blazing lava periter would take continuous damage, as well as being inflicted with the status ailnt, Burn.
The difference of this Burn was that, unlike the normal Burn ailnt, this Burn would take 5% of your maximum health every 3 seconds.
It would remain for 10 seconds, aning 15% of your maximum health would be gone by the ti it was over. Also, the Burn couldn’t be cleansed by any item or skill. A player could only resist it by healing themselves—if they were even capable of doing so.
Just at this mont, Xu Feng halted his steps and smiled lightly. He was currently in the desert region of the vast field. And in front of him was a fierce clash between players.
Or to be more precise, it was 3 players trying their best to resist 1 player with multiple summons.
“Goddamn it! Just what is wrong with this Summoner?” A level 41 Berserker exclaid in anger.
“Stop talking and more tanking.” Another Berserker on the sa level shouted. “How much longer are you going to be hindered by the summoned creatures?”
“Shush, I’m doing my best already. But these summoned creatures are a pain in the butt to kill. They are all buffed heavily in this field.” A level 42 Arcane Mage hissed coldly. The summoned creatures weren’t the problem. Instead, it was the field that they were in.
For so reason, their attributes and movent speed were heavily suppressed by the field. They even wanted to break out of it once, but doing so prompted their enemy to collapse the field and resummon it later.
Once the field collapsed, their health points quickly took a nosedive, frightening them all to not provoke the enemy by running away.
“Stop the useless struggle.” Hovering above the sky was none other than Carn, who was testing so of her ability.
“Just be a good guinea pig for
and die.” She sneered and commanded her voidlings to swarm them with full power.
In an instant, the party of three collapsed in their defenses as they cursed loudly.
“Damn it, we’ll definitely get revenge for this!”
“Sure, I dare you all to try to ss with our Malefic Order Guild. I really can’t wait for you to knock on our Guild Residence Doorstep!”
That was the last statent the party of three heard before they were killed and effectively eliminated from the trial.
Shortly after killing them, Carn glanced at the drop loot and her eyes lit up.
“Hehe, if I put these into auction, then I can make so money.” She gleefully said and retrieved all her rewards.
Clap! Clap! Clap!
“Not bad, you’ve really improved.” Xu Feng clapped his hands and praised, only to end up regretting his action.
After all, Carn didn’t know it was him and already counterattacked.
