Chapter 758: Watchtower #5

A monster wave was equivalent to what it ant. It was about a horde of monsters constantly attacking with no rest given to players.

To summarize, it was a battle of endurance between monsters and players to see who would be the last one standing.

In other words, if one side were to falter, then the consequences would have been huge.

"Our defense is complete?" Herald Fist suddenly raised an eyebrow.

"Although we gather all manpower, our numbers are still lacking." Dango Tiger chid in. The monsters were numbered 10,000 and above.

anwhile, the number of players on their side was only around 3,000 or so.

This wasn't even considering the factor of whether they could suppress the monsters successfully or not by themselves.

"Resources to improve are very scarce. At most, we only have around 1,000 players who could be considered elites." Night Coin said.

Gentle Wind also nodded in agreent. Much less to say their offensive power was lacking, even their defense was questionable.

Yet Xu Feng suddenly said their defense was adequate. This was simply mind-boggling to them.

As for Xu Feng, he realized why Dawnshire City was in such a plight. These people were the so-called four major guilds.

Instead of working on their brain to allocate proper resources and train their mbers better, they focused on battling for control over each other.

Although their battle inadvertently raised the city's population of Dawnshire City and made it a bustling place, it also ca with a heavy price. By making Dawnshire City so profitable, the Colossus ultimately ended up targeting this city.

In the past tiline, this city was overlooked by the Colossus and managed to escape the crisis. It then proceeded to grow in size and influence after the end of the major event. They were so eager for profit that they purposely raised the city's popularity to gain more revenue.

"I seriously can't fathom how you all can still claim to be a major guild." Xu Feng shook his head and sighed softly.

"Just now, did you not see

force the minor guilds to cough up money? Did you really think I did that to help you recoup your losses?"

When he raised that question, his eyes darted at them, only to realize they all remained silent. Without a doubt, these people definitely thought he was so wicked person through and through.

However, Xu Feng never expected that Zhao Kai was also making a similar face as the rest.

He facepald and stood up. "Listen carefully. Now that those minor guilds had lost 500 gold coins to still be in the ga. Do you think they would defend half-heartedly or give it their all?"

As soon as Xu Feng brought so light to their blind eyes, realization quickly dawned upon them.

Indeed, the minor guilds wouldn't have cared previously whether the city fell or not. They had a minor influence in the city, to begin with.

But that mindset had long changed the mont they paid 500 gold coins upfront. The gold coins were essentially their funds for the guild, so by paying, it ant that they invested to ensure the city's survival.

Would investors ever do sothing ridiculous to harm their interest by slacking off?

The answer would be a hard no!

"I see… The minor guilds are now tied to the fate of the city as well—just like us. So they can't afford to falter in their defense at all." Gentle Wind uttered in shock.

With these minor guilds doing their best to focus on the defense to prevent any breaches, the major guilds could focus on the attack without being distracted.

"Seems like you all finally woke up from your slumber." Xu Feng clicked his tongue and continued. "The minor guilds won't slack off, but they still aren't strong enough to defend entirely. You should split your forces based on my allocation and arrive at the frontline 10 minutes from now."

After he said his piece, Xu Feng exited the eting room.

Zhao Kai also quickly followed behind.

Watchtower #5

Back at the top of the watchtower, Xu Feng finished discussing with the NPC's Guard Captain.

"Thank you, Baron. We appreciate your service in our ti of crisis." The Guard Captain saluted.

"The honor is mine." Xu Feng lightly responded. "Those Colossus have already conquered nurous cities already. We cannot afford to let Dawnshire City fall into their hands as well."

"Indeed, those slumbered rock monsters should have stayed underground. How dare they try to covet the cities we have struggled hard to build."

"Anyway, please maintain your soldiers to my plan. Just leave those piles of rocks to

and my Vanguard Guild."

"Of course," Nodding, the Guard Captain then excused himself to prepare for the upcoming battle.

As the Guard Captain brushed past Zhao Kai, the latter was completely stunned on the spot.

"When did you beco a Baron in this city?" Zhao Kai stepped forward and asked in a dazed voice. "My eldest sister and her friend barely beca a noble after months of work."

In response, Xu Feng simply snapped his fingers and replied, "Magic."

"..."

Knowing that he wouldn't receive an answer, Zhao Kai no longer bothered with that topic. He stepped forward, his gaze darted at the far distance where it was filled with dust. Those dusts were all piled up due to the advancing movent of the monsters.

"So the NPCs would be the last defense, right?" Zhao Kai asked. He refused to believe Xu Feng would seriously entrust the minor and major guilds to work collectively together efficiently to defend.

"Oh, I'm surprised you knew without needing

to say it." Amused, Xu Feng didn't anticipate Zhao Kai to be asking such an insightful question.

"You've told

long ago. Human's mindset is easy to manipulate, but to maintain that state is difficult." Zhao Kai shrugged in response.

"NPCs, however, are different from us. Unlike us who are considered immortals, they are native to this world. Once dead, they would remain dead unless revived in a set ti prior to their death. There's also no guarantee the revival would work on them either."
