Realizing that Carn wanted to ditch him, Xu Feng could only chuckle softly in response.
"Sure, you can ascend through the ladder and leave." He then said, not a bit surprised that she wanted to leave the chasm.
The terrain was a ss, and even the monsters were out of their level.
What fun could there be under such conditions?
If it weren't for Yaren's task and compromise, Xu Feng really wanted to just take the second prize reward and call it a day.
He was not a masochist who loved to torture himself.
anwhile, Carn didn't expect Xu Feng to readily agree for her to leave.
"Eh, are you not going to persuade or convince
to stay?" Carn asked in a dumbfounded tone. The only reason why she acted coyly was to get permission to leave.
However, it appeared that it was a useless effort, given he didn't even seem to mind in the first place.
"Since you requested it, then it ans that you probably thought it over before consulting with ." Xu Feng mused.
"Yes, but I thought you would still attempt to persuade
to stay." Carn scratched her head. "Or do you think I'm a nuisance and that you wanted
to leave from the start?"
"No, I just didn't want to see you suffer if you really don't want to deal with this." He shook his head and continued, "The Abyssal Rift is both ntally and physically taxing. This task only concerns
and Crimson Heart from the start, so you're not obliged to tag along with us."
A mont of silence consud the atmosphere, and before long, Carn suddenly crossed her arms. "Hmm, I'll just stay for a while longer in that case. Otherwise, you might call
a heartless guild mber."
Amused, Xu Feng didn't bother speaking further.
"Have we rested enough?" He turned to Crimson Heart and asked.
"Yes, I've recovered more than half." Crimson Heart responded.
"Good, then we shall continue."
Shortly after, the trio continued to descend further. The further they descended, the darker the environnt beca.
Vision was now limited, and aside from the occasional battle sound from other NPCs, there were also creepy echoing sounds.
"Will there be more Chasm Stalkers appearing?" Carn questioned, her expression solemn.
"The chances are slim." Xu Feng sighed softly. The vision was indeed limited, but thanks to his baptized state, his perception was greater than most.
Hence, he saw nurous Chasm Stalkers engaging in a fierce battle with the NPCs.
They were only lucky or maybe unlucky in a sense to encounter a Chasm Stalker earlier. After all, most of these NPCs are here to hunt for monsters, given their drops are worth a lot.
Of course, there were also Miner NPCs, who ventured here specifically for the natural resources. These Miners are usually accompanied by a NPC adventure team who protect them from danger while they occupy themselves in digging the minerals, ores, and etc.
"Hmm, what are these symbols?" Suddenly, Crimson Heart noticed a few symbols that were similar to the ones on the Chasm Stalker's body.
She was about to extend her hand to touch it, but Xu Feng beca alard.
"Don't touch it!" He shouted loudly.
Unfortunately, it was still too late and the tip of Crimson Heart's finger touched the symbol.
"Eh… what's wrong?" Holding an awkward expression, Crimson Heart didn't understand why she couldn't touch.
"Yeah, what's going to happen?" Carn gazed at him and asked.
"Heh…" A bitter smile appeared on Xu Feng's face. "Well, we're going to descend to the lowest level possible, so yeah."
Right at this mont, the ground they were stepping on suddenly collapsed. And before they knew it, they began freefalling.
Carn and Crimson Heart were alard and tried to latch onto sothing or use their skills, only to realize it was temporarily disabled.
As for Xu Feng, he held a deadpan expression, seemingly not even surprised by the situation.
'I didn't expect Crimson Heart to be one of those people who are prone to curiosity and touching things they don't know.' He inwardly thought, feeling like it was a blunder of him to not warn them in advance.
A few minutes later of free falling, the trio landed on the ground smoothly, without taking any damage. That was because before they landed straight on the concrete, a soft wind current swirled around their body, creating a gentle landing for them.
As the trio reached the lowest level of the Abyssal Rift's Chasm, everything around them felt heavy and damp. The air slled musty and seed to be mixed with a hint of decay.
The ground was rough and slippery, with rocks and slimy patches that made it hard to walk. The walls were close and dark, glowing faintly with strange symbols that barely lit up the area.
A cold breeze blew through, sending chills down their backs. The darkness was thick, broken only by the occasional flicker of those strange symbols on the walls.
Carn was silent, but her stare at Crimson Heart said everything pretty much.
"Ahem, I wonder where the exit is at." Crimson Heart faked a cough and raised the question.
However, it would have been better if she kept silent instead, given Xu Feng's response nearly made Carn want to strangle her to death.
"There's no ladder here since no one dares to venture to the lowest level. Don't you realize the occasional sound we heard is no more?" Xu Feng replied, his gaze wandering around his surroundings.
"Since we triggered the symbol chanism, we now have to solve the puzzles and investigate the place to find an exit path to leave."
"Can't we just teleport away?" Carn raised the question, finding it ridiculous that they would be trapped here indefinitely.
anwhile, Crimson Heart didn't even bother asking and outright took out a Teleport Scroll, hoping that it would send her away from this place.
Unfortunately, what she received was a system prompt, stating that the Teleport Scroll was currently disabled and unable to be used at the mont.
Unwilling to accept it, she proceeded to retrieve a Return Scroll, but the result ca out the sa.
"It doesn't work…" Crimson Heart said solemnly.
