The four Behemoths which should have posed so problems were easily resolved, to say the least.
With Jeff's experience, he could handle the two younglings with the help of Carn. However, the adult Behemoths were the troubleso ones.
Hence, for Xu Feng to take on the task of delaying, even injuring, and killing one of them in the process was an unbelievable feat.
The gaze that Jeff held on Xu Feng had subsequently changed from a mixture of fear and annoyance to reverence. It was no wonder how Xu Feng could beco a Baron.
'A healer can actually be this frightening.' Jeff thought to himself, feeling quite lucky to not receive much punishnt for his previous deeds at the rcenary Association.
As for Carn, she didn't care about who got the last hit and was just glad that Xu Feng didn't die.
At the sa ti, she noticed a dead adult Behemoth on the far side. "How did you kill one of them all alone in a 2 vs 1 situation?"
"Didn't I say I was an expert?" Xu Feng flatly responded, unwilling to divulge the details further.
"Yes, an expert who was forced to flee earlier." Carn teasingly said.
However, she quickly rushed toward him and smiled sweetly, "But still an expert nevertheless."
While saying so, her eyes widened in shock at his staff, which was actually damaged beyond recognition.
'So his weapon broke…' She thought to herself, finally realizing why he was forced to flee.
anwhile, Xu Feng noticed her change of expression and smiled bitterly.
The hamring process was effective, to say the least, but in return, his staff was effectively defective.
The durability didn't just reach 0 but at a negative value. To have it repaired would require a ton of money. Not to ntion, the staff wasn't anything great either.
Of course, he still had many great staff stocked in his inventory. It was just that he had noticed Jeff and Carn were done, so he could leave the fighting to them instead.
'If I continued to fight, then I would have to switch to the new staff and cause the durability to decrease. It was better to leave the task to Jeff.' Xu Feng exclaid, feeling proud for being so frugal.
Shortly after Jeff gathered the corpses together, Carn suggested splitting the loot.
However, Xu Feng was quick to refuse, not because he was generous, but because he knew she needed all of it to report back to Librarian Griselda.
"The Librarian tasked you with such mainly for a test of your capability. So it's best to have everything here just in case they might ask you for sothing." Xu Feng warned.
He had heard nurous players outcry and complain when completing a Librarian's quest in the past tiline. They cried about sharing the loot among those they requested for help or out of generosity, only to end up with a fierce scolding and minimal reward.
"Is that even alright?" Carn raised an eyebrow, taking a glance at Jeff.
Jeff, in response, rely shrugged his shoulders and flashed a smile on his face. He was commissioned for the job anyway, and to get any share of the reward earlier was already enough.
Nevertheless, the main cause for it might probably be because of Xu Feng.
Seeing how nobody rejected Xu Feng's goodwill, and if she were to refuse it, she would beco a hypocrite.
"Fine, I'll take it," She sighed softly and stored all the corpses and drops in her inventory.
While doing so, she took another look at the lair around them.
Originally, it was quite peaceful and had quite an aesthetic scenic, but after the battle, only debris and traces of a fierce fight remained.
"No need to feel so lancholy." Xu Feng suddenly comnted. "We're not in so sort of drama or movie. Just appreciate your victory and move on."
Carn pursed her lips, baffled by his words. "I wasn't trying to act lancholy."
"Okay good," he breathed a sigh of relief and proceeded to turn around to walk back to the exit.
Speechless, Carn could only quietly follow behind to the exit. With the Behemoths now slain, there was nothing else to do but return.
As the trio exited out of the lair and was walking, Xu Feng suddenly sensed danger. Almost instinctively, he held Carn's arm and dragged her to his side.
BANG!
A brief second later, Carn's original position was shot, with a bullet struck on the concrete.
"Oho, soone actually dodged your shot, Eagle Snipe."
"Tsk, she didn't dodge but got dragged away in the nick of ti. Get your facts right, Hundred Ghost!"
"Haha, whatever you say."
Added to the laughter, two n erged in the front from the corner, along with eight more behind them.
anwhile, Carn's expression quickly turned fierce as she recognized the two people who were chattering.
"Eagle Snipe and Hundred Ghost…" She gnashed her teeth, and anger filled her eyes. She could never forget these two people in her life. And it wasn't because of anything good, but just for the fact that they had hunted and killed her down.
"Are these two clowns the ones that you rejected?" Xu Feng suddenly inquired, putting his hand on her shoulder and patting it softly.
Despite the questions, Xu Feng already knew the answer. It would be more precise to say that he recognized these two individuals way more than Carn.
Hundred Ghost and Eagle Snipe were people who used to be his competitors during the ti he joined the Reaver Guild in his past tiline. Not only were these two ruthless with their thods to reach the top, but they were also a bunch of unscrupulous folks.
'How hilarious to encounter them here.' He thought. People often say enemies et on a narrow road, and they would be correct for saying so.
Although these people most likely tracked Carn, this problem was going to be his now.
"Be careful, Feng. They are the branch of the Reaver Guild that operated on RedEagle Town." Carn explained, once again warning Xu Feng where they originated from.
