Chapter 1316: Film Festival Part 9
"What? So Edgar had long planned to target the Vanguard Guild?" Carn exclaid in shock. She leaned on his shoulder in bed and clicked her tongue.
"Hmph, we really let him off easily then."
"Easy?" Amused, Xu Feng held his phone and showed it to Carn.
A few seconds later, Carn widened her eyes in disbelief.
On the screen, it was the surveillance recording of Edgar’s confrontation with them, alongside the soiled pants mont.
"How did you get the recording?" She asked in an alard tone.
There was no way the Twilight Star Hotel would be willing to hand over a recording like this to anyone.
In fact, it was more appropriate to say that the hotel would imdiately delete the recording and any possible recovery attempts.
As hateful as Edgar might be, he was also soone of high standing in the real world. It would be a major scandal and a reputation hit for the hotel if they were to allow this kind of incident to spread to the public.
"Naturally, I’ve hacked it." Xu Feng responded in a nonchalant tone. Hacking was easy when he had personally upgraded his AI system, Vera, to a higher version.
Little did Xu Feng know. His nonchalant tone of hacking a top-tier hotel like Twilight Star was mind-boggling to Carn.
’Hah, the man I love is just too much.’ Carn felt her heart beating rapidly. The more Xu Feng displayed his prowess, the more she found herself falling deeper.
Still, she couldn’t afford to allow herself to be consud in romance. These past days were indeed sweet, but she knew she couldn’t beco an obstacle that delayed his goal.
"So what do you plan on doing with the recording?" Carn raised the question. "If you post it online, then it will definitely spread for a few hours before it gets taken down. The consequences later on also wouldn’t be clean."
"I’m not going to publish it." Xu Feng smiled lightly. "This is my leverage to ensure our short drama would win at least 2 categories in the actual film festival. If posted online, then it would have been a total loss."
Realization quickly dawned upon Carn.
So there was indeed a reason for Xu Feng’s action.
She had truly thought he had gotten jealous and humiliated Edgar on purpose as punishnt.
"Tsk." She clicked her tongue and scooted to the side of the bed. She was disappointed that he didn’t lose his composure because of her.
Looking at Carn’s behavior, Xu Feng was rendered speechless.
He shook his head and proceeded to send a threatening text to Edgar.
Needless to say, the threat was traceless and could not be linked to him at all.
Even if Edgar were to use the authority, nothing could incriminate him.
Moreover, Xu Feng highly doubted Edgar would be willing to call the authorities over such an embarrassing and humiliating event.
People of his status refused to let any dirt stain their family na.
This is why people shouldn’t be jealous of wealthy families too much. Their constraint and shackles were not for the weak-hearted to dabble in.
Zhao Kai was one such example. If he hadn’t shown much talent or had his back, then he would have been another discarded piece or disposal pawn.
Just like that, another few days went by, and the official Film Festival comnced.
Green Fla City Annual Film Festival.
Xu Feng had his arm held by Carn as they walked through the red carpet.
"Actor Feng, this is your first nomination for the contention of best actor. How do you feel?" A reporter quickly raised their question.
"Actor Feng, it’s said that your Vanguard Guild is trying to set a foothold in the real world. Could we perhaps learn what other plans your guild has in mind?" Another reporter asked.
In total, Xu Feng was bombarded by multiple questions.
"Apologies, but Actor Feng isn’t here to answer questions." Carn intervened and smiled politely at the reporters. "The Vanguard Guild will post an official announcent and a public hearing soon with Wei Xing. By then, you’re free to ask your questions."
When the reporters heard Carn’s words, they tried to shift the attention to her.
Unfortunately, Carn was used to such a scene and promptly dragged Xu Feng to the venue inside, preventing the reporters from harassing them further.
"These reporters all want to fabricate things by editing words out. So make sure to keep quiet at all tis." Carn whispered to Xu Feng and warned him of the danger of speaking one wrong word.
Although editing the wording wasn’t illegal, it was immoral, and only those who harbor grudges would deliberately edit maliciously to bring down a person.
"Thanks for being my voice." Xu Feng thanked her.
"Hmph, I just don’t want the Vanguard Guild to have bad rumors." Carn snorted and tilted her head sideways. It was apparent that she still seed quite mad from the previous event.
Toward this, Xu Feng could only smile bitterly.
He wasn’t going to deceive her just to gain her favor. Lying in a romantic relationship often resulted in a terrible end.
Soti later, the two of them were guided to their respective seats.
"Hmm, haven’t seen you two for a few days, and you already seed quite distant." Whether it was by coincidence or not, Kara was seated at the sa table as them. She looked at the anthem with amusent, having sensed their sowhat awkward atmosphere.
"Bla it on the wooden man." Carn crossed her arms and pouted. "He knew what I was thinking and wanted but refused to coax ."
’Is this what they call love brain people are unreasonable?’ Kara furrowed her brows. She decided to stay silent about the aspect and avoid being dragged into their farce.
As for Xu Feng’s pleading look, she feigned blindness.
’Ugh, how did Kai survive for so long having a girlfriend?’ Xu Feng was starting to wonder if he should take so advice from him. However, that thought only lasted for no more than 3 seconds.
’Forget it, that man is a simp and henpecked through and through.’
