Chapter 1041: Cartographer Guild
A few minutes had gone by since Xu Feng began retracting his footsteps.
“Sure enough, the paths are ever-changing.” Xu Feng murmured.
He was now situated in a different dinsion, similar to the ti when he was exploring deep into the Chasm alongside Carn and Crimson Heart.
Still within the Divine World, but functioned in a different law and ti.
He reckoned the paths were changed because of Chao Shen’s manipulation.
As for why?
Xu Feng bet that Chao Shen wanted to mimic what was like on the sea.
The water in the sea could constantly alter and change its direction depending on the ti and environntal effects.
Thanks to such unpredictable factors, Sea Navigation was vital and necessary for anyone who wished to travel in sea whether it was through a boat or a ship.
So right now, Xu Feng was being tested in a similar theory and he welcod it.
After all, he wanted to see how rusty he had beco or how stable his navigation skills remained.
Ti quickly went by, and Xu Feng managed to co back out to the small shipyard in under 15 minutes.
‘Damn that Handso Chao.’ He cursed silently. He could have co out sooner if the latter didn’t keep changing the paths to throw him off.
Finally seeing the daylight, Xu Feng understood the intention behind Chao Shen’s action.
Nevertheless, he didn’t like this series of tests. He found it redundant to be tested on the sa subject over and over again.
Soti later, he followed the map and walked toward the Cartographer Guild.
Unlike the other popular organizations such as the Adventure Association, rcenary Association, Town Hall, etc, the Cartographer Guild appeared desolate. There was no player traffic whatsoever. It was only NPCs entering and exiting the guild.
“As expected… it’s still too early for players to dabble into this kind of guild.” Xu Feng murmured. He knew why the guild was unpopular with players.
In the current state, where players couldn’t even rent a ship out to travel by sea alone and were forced to board the NPC ship to do so simple sea traveling.
There was legit no need for them to co to this type of guild.
As Xu Feng approached the guild, so of the guards outside were dumbfounded by his appearance.
“Are you lost by any chance?” One of the NPC guards raised the question. “The Adventure Association is toward the northwest and not over here.”
“No, I’m in the right place. Thanks for your advice.” Xu Feng smiled lightly and responded.
“You want to enter the Cartographer Guild?” Surprises colored the guard’s eyes as he explained, “No offense, but do you own any ships?”
The guard wasn’t trying to block Xu Feng but rely wanted to warn him out of kindness.
There have been instances when players co here thinking that having a map, enabled them to rent a ship.
However, that was only a pipe dream. So so resentful players reported their guild to the Town Hall, which had caused quite the irritation among Cartographers who outright banned those who falsely reported them.
“I was sent here by Handso Chao to seek soone nad Lao Shu.” Xu Feng didn’t plan on wasting too much of his saliva so he quickly brought up Chao Shen’s na.
To further prove his credibility, he retrieved the folding fan and flashed it to the guard.
As soon as the guard laid their eyes on the folding fan, their expression quickly changed.
They saluted and put on a respectful expression. “Apologies, I didn’t know you were sent here by Sir Chao.”
“It’s alright,” he waved his hand casually.
Soti later, the guard personally guided Xu Feng inside the guild and explained every part of the interior.
When the nearby NPCs noticed the guard’s behavior, they beca curious regarding Xu Feng’s identity.
“Why are you guiding a player here, Joseph?” A receptionist questioned when the guard was about to lead soone to a restricted area.
The guard nad Joseph only glanced at the receptionist for a brief mont.
He approached her and whispered softly. “This person is soone sent by Sir Chao to seek Mister Lao Shu. Do you wish to block him?”
Almost imdiately, the receptionist’s eyes widened in horror and disbelief. She swallowed a mouthful of saliva and hurriedly inford Joseph about Lao Shu’s current whereabouts.
“Mister Lao Shu is currently discussing cartography with other cartographers on the third floor.”
“Thanks,” Joseph nodded and proceeded to guide Xu Feng to the upper floors.
Their actions soon caught the eyes of many other NPC businessn. They all knew the upper floors were restricted and only those who were recomnded or reputed in the cartography could ascend.
This was why so many of them gathered here today. They had learned that many cartographers ca today to discuss a new discovery with Lao Shu.
“Who was that person that the guard is guiding?”
“No clue, the person looks foreign. Never seen him in Evershade City before.”
“It’s definitely one of those Immortals, but they don’t even qualify to rent a ship yet.”
When one of them revealed the person’s identity was that of an Immortal, many businessn beca more confused.
They scratched their heads and appeared visibly confused. Who didn’t know about the incident of Immortals being a sore eye in the eyes of Cartographers?
It reached the point where Immortals were practically sent away politely by the guards outside, mainly because violence was strictly forbidden in Evershade City. The patrol in the city was also very efficient, so nobody dared to break the laws.
While they remained dumbfounded by the situation, Xu Feng arrived at the third floor.
“Mister Lao Shu is just right over here. Please excuse
and allow
to inform them in advance.” Joseph pointed at a door and suggested entering the room first.
He was afraid that the other cartographers might be displeased by the sudden arrival of an Immortal, but he couldn’t afford to have either party clash due to a misunderstanding.
After all, this particular Immortal was sent by the legendary Sir Chao.
