"What did you say?" Hayley asked, her heart hamring in her chest.

"The chiras are here," Steve repeated grimly over the phone, his voice heavy with urgency. "And... Endrick is with them."

Crash!

The phone slipped from Rhea’s trembling hand, clattering onto the floor as her eyes widened in horror. Her composure shattered in an instant.

"We’re done for," she muttered, her voice weak and trembling. "We are so done for..." The fight and fire in her gaze were fading fast, replaced by raw despair.

Aaron, who had been silently observing, finally spoke. His tone was calm, steady, almost too controlled for the situation. "These chiras... why do you fear them so much?" His sharp eyes bore into Rhea. Thanks to his heightened senses, he had already heard every word exchanged over the phone.

"Now isn’t the ti for questions!" Rhea snapped, panic flashing in her eyes even as her voice shook. "The chiras are here, Aaron. This isn’t the mont to catch up on your lacking information. We need to move! I’ll contact the nearest shelter, see if they can help us or take us in. Leo, sound the alarm! We’re going into ergency protocol—"

"Stay still."

Aaron’s voice cut through the chaos, calm yet unyielding. A faint ripple of power carried in his words, seizing hold of Rhea’s frantic movents. "There will be no need for ergency protocols. What I need from you right now is to calmly explain why you’re so afraid of these chiras."

The command slipped past her defenses, and Rhea froze mid-motion. Her frantic breath steadied, her trembling hands stilled, and she lowered herself into a chair as though the earlier panic had never existed.

"What the hell just happened?" Draken muttered, confusion etched all over his face, mirrored by the others in the room.

Rhea’s expression smoothed unnaturally as she began to explain, her voice even. "Like I said before, chiras are humans who fused themselves with monsters and their cores. They beca sothing more than human... a twisted combination of all races. By rging their genes with those of monsters, their strength easily surpasses hunters of the sa rank. Endrick, however... Endrick is the worst of them. From the intelligence we gathered, he fused with multiple monsters—and even a dungeon core itself."

"I see," Aaron said, his tone unreadable. "Then here’s the next question. Leo once told that people carrying dungeon core energy can’t enter this underground city. If that’s the case, then shouldn’t chiras be harmless here?"

Rhea’s lips pressed into a thin line before she answered. "There’s a loophole. The chiras discovered that by sacrificing weaker monsters, they can gradually weaken the sanctuary’s barrier. Once it’s overloaded, it collapses completely. That’s what they’re doing now—breaking down our defenses piece by piece. And when the barrier falls..." Her words trailed into silence, leaving the weight of what ca next to everyone’s imagination.

"Rhea! Enough talk!" Draken burst out, panic rising in his voice. "Why are we still sitting here having a chat when our lives are hanging by a thread?"

Aaron rose smoothly to his feet, his presence suddenly heavier, commanding. "I’ve heard enough." His eyes swept across the room before settling on Alice. "Alice, take them all to the sanctuary. Flaborn, help her. I have unfinished business... with Endrick." He stepped out of Draken’s house, his calm steps echoing like the tolling of a bell.

"So, system," Aaron muttered under his breath as he walked. "How co I could enter this underground city without being rejected like the chiras? Any idea?"

[Because you don’t carry the raw, unrefined essence of a dungeon core. Your hybrid bloodline consud and converted it into a more usable energy. Think of it like converting chemical energy into chanical energy.]

Aaron chuckled softly. "While we’re at it... plot armor, luck accumulation." A wide grin stretched across his face.

[Tsk. I was hoping you’d forgotten about the system draw by now.]

"You bet I forgot my na, my past, and just about everything else. But my system draw?" Aaron’s grin widened further. "Never. Sure, I missed plenty of rewards while I was out cold, but that’s fine. Better late than never." His eyes glowed faintly with anticipation.
