"Lewis, I will need a favor from you, take mother with you and get her as far as possible from here." I say, already dreading to part so fast when we finally co back together after all these years, so much to talk about and share, but I supposed it would be too much to ask that things go as planned and, even more, that my mother would go away peacefully and let everything in our hands.
"Oh no you don’t, you are not getting out of this Seraph." Using my na shows just how much mother is serious and dead on about it.
"Mother, this is hardly the ti for-"
"Oh no no no, I’m going to put my tail between my legs and run away, if I leave now that coward lion will flee and I won’t be able to find him again for a long ti, if at all, and I’m not feeling like tracking down a prey that is already in my reach."
She has a point, but still...
"You are still weak mother, do not risk yourself like this." At that point we had already landed, both getting off my back as we speak, away from prying eyes, so at that mont she walks in front of , cupping my face with her hands and giving that mother serious look that is not open for debate.
"Love, I know you are worried about just as much as I am with you, but there are things in this world that demand sacrifices, and even though all I wanted to do is to be with you right now, to learn how your life has been, to see the man you have beco, but I cannot let the man to stole your childhood escape from , I simply cannot, do you understand ?"
I do, as much as I wish I didn’t.
I don’t like it, it is quite a bad idea, to get her back in his reach, from fighting so many years to have her back only to let her go like this, into danger once more no less.
"Mother, as much as I like and respect you, last ti the lion was able to beat us both, now you will be alone after being caged for so long, what makes you think things changed for better now and you can win against him?" I know my words are harsh but they are needed if I want to put an end to this idea of hers, I would rather hunt the lion down my entire life than have to look for her once more, not knowing where she may be, which would be even worse than before.
I don’t know if I could take going through this all again, and I guess she sees that in my owl eyes for her expression dims as she, too, seems to realize the cost this revenge of hers may have.
"But she is not alone on this one." I do not know what would have happened there, who of us would have given in, but I do not need to when a white tiger cos down from the sky as he talks. "She is not alone anymore, it was my mistake to leave her in the first place."
"Camillo! You-" Is strange to see mother at lost for words, or worse, embarrassed even, she had never partaken in having other partners after him, probably because of and my young age but still, seeing her like this... makes want to punch that tiger again, give him a deeper peak.
But mother does that for and goes towards him only to smack him in the face, hitting him as hard as a woman’s hand can do against a tiger’s face.
"Want any help?" I say, ready to break so bones of his, but end up getting a disapproving yet mischievous look from Ethan.
"Seraph..."
I shrugged, flickering my fluffy tail around.
But it seems that my own outburst is hereditary, because next she is hugging him as his tiger chin goes around her shoulder, his black wings unfolding, hugging back.
I turn my head away from the scene, buffing and wanting to give him a piece of mind about how he did not have the right to worry about her after all he did, but at least I manage to keep quiet about all of that for now.
I was not about to take this mont away from my mother, as much as it infuriated .
"Ohh, look look! They are so cute together." Says Ethan as he half hugs my furry shoulder, trying to make look at the scene in front of us.
"I refuse." I say, deadpan.
"Ugh, so cold."
I shoulder him back, but he chuckles and half hugs .
Out of nowhere an explosion sounds not far from where we are, breaking the nostalgic ersion mother was having and making us all look at the horizon and the cloud of smoke quickly advancing its way towards us and taking the skies.
"You should be used to it by now." I say,a nswering Ethan’s response, raising my beak at him, only for his cheeky smirk to co back to his face.
"Yeah, but you are quite fiery in bed my cold king that sotis I forget."
It is my parent’s turn to be embarrassed then because even though Ethan whispered just for to hear both are beasts like myself and have a very keen hearing.
Father coughs the embarrassnt away, avoiding eye contact, but mother gives Ethan a thumbs up that makes sigh.
"So that’s settled, we are going on different paths for now."
"Wait wait what is settled? Nothing is settled, I still think that-"
"Seraph, my son." Mother says, and I can tell she won’t back down out of this when she goes back to the don’t question motherly tone of voice. "Let have this."
And that was it, that’s all it took, a request from mother, for to simply back down from it.
A simple and genuine request from her...And that was it.
