"You don’t think it would be best for you to leave and rest mother? You have been through a lot already..." I say, but knowing her and the look she gives I can tell this is a lost battle before it even starts.
"No my son, you are the ones who have already done enough. I, on the other hand, stayed crying and sobbing all this ti instead of fighting back and having the sa faith you had in in you, I should have believed that we, my strong boy, was still alive, and not stay as I did...but, well, I, my son." She says while resting her hand on my cheek, brushing the words of sorrow away now that there is no more reason for them. "Am the one who will end this now." At the sa ti that her face went from sadness to calmness, now her words were heavy and her eyes sharp when she says decisively: "Heavenclaw is mine."
Her least words are so serious and cold that I’m at lost for words, so I shut my mouth and start working on the chain, a magical enchanted item that stops the flow of mana, or rather, not only interferes with the flow but keeps her MP reserves at the lowest, giving her the weak appearance she has now, and before we can talk about her getting her strength back we must take this thing off, otherwise it will be a no go.
The good thing is that the runes are actually quiet weak when pushed with enough magic from outsides while flowing in the opposite path they were carved, so once I have it in control is a matter of getting the tal off the way which is easily done when I froze it into a fragile ice and then Ethan swings his sword down in an arc.
She falls down on my arms the mont she is freed, taking a deep breath like soone who has been kept on the verge of drowning for years, and a deep sigh of relief leaves her lips as she deflates her lungs and grabs my arms to get back on her feet, a simple matter of ti and rest now before she gets her strength back.
We each pass an arm around our shoulder, helping her stand and walk side by side, but sothing in this endeavor of breaking her free seems to have activated an alarm, perhaps the violation of the spell on the chains, but now that we have her safe and sound there is no need to hide our presence anymore, so the winged creatures coming our way do not bother anymore, nor the barrier around turning red.
Ethan, in par with my thoughts, takes his obsidian black sword and with expertise throws it up like a dagger in the air straight up as the blade sinks deep into the barrier, getting stuck for a mont before the veins along the blade shine red as if the inside is made of boiling lava, expanding the blade and crisscrossing along the tal, cracking the spell right up only to break it next as if it made of nothing, chattering like glass as the pieces start falling over our heads, being washed away by the snow and wind that now are free to blast away inside the castle, taking the remains of magic with it.
"Co on, you two hop on my back, we need to get out of here." I say while changing back to my owl griffin form and waiting for them to move, glad to see that mother is getting better by the second without the chains, rather fast if you think that she had all that energy suppressed for years, ready to burst.
She will undoubtedly be top notch in no ti I’m sure.
With so many around and mother with us I intended to flee as fast as possible and avoid confrontation but the re seconds it takes us to bring her out and about are enough that they surround us in three directions of the sky already and made unsure if I could outrun them now, carrying two on my back while fleeing three battalions of young and fit flying creatures.
This could prove to be a challenge, especially since I am unsure what is their level of training at this point, appraisal proving that most were not as basic fighters as the ones taking care of the slaves.
I don’t know what to think when the best guards are put to diverge and co here instead of dealing with the slaves riot and the uproar, of how the lion put his best troops to watch over mother in case of a breakout.
I flare my nostrils at the idea, digging my claws into the wood until they dented as I beca dead serious and about to give them a run for their money, pumped for the challenge ahead and focusing on the only acceptable result, discarding the difficulties, or rather, stop thinking about them or giving voice to the errors as I simply stare the danger in the eye and start cracking my back and spreading my wings, flexing my muscles and pumping adrenaline into my system.
Being on edge all this ti has not dulled years of training from my mind and body, and a smile curves my beak when a gust of very strong and unnatural wind cos forth, knowing full well the source of the magic.
"I guess the reinforcents have arrived." I hoot in response, relaxing my body a little when the wind stream goes strong enough that the creatures are played around like leaves in the wind.
"Let’s go."
I jump over the walls, which are not very high while they had the runes to protect them, and jump back down on the other side, my wide leopard snow pads finding comfort in the soft cold snow as I start to trot away from the castle, ignoring the screams and confusion over our heads caused by Lily’s magic.
Such powerful magic was held in such a tiny body... but I guess I should have expected it since it already holds as big of a personality as she has anyway.
"Oi, you, gentleman, keep this lady company will you?" Her answer are their screams as she manages to push them all to one side and move them about like ragdolls, pushing them against the walls and huge trees as their backs bent.
But who am I to get in the way of her fun?
Or in the middle of her crazy attacks for that matter, I think while sneaking away at the sound of her laughter and their screams.
