"Indeed old friend, we have other matters to attend to, sothing that has been going on for far too long already." With a calr serious face portraying a much older and confident demon warrior woman, the demon stands up only to almost fall again, and Ethan holding her on reflex, each with one arm.
"Ah, seems that I have not gotten used to this body yet, but still we cannot stay for long otherwise..."
"Otherwise what? Stop beating around the bush and say it already." Says Ethan, starting to get impatient, but his choice of words earns a raised eyebrow on my part.
We start walking at a very slow pace with her stumbling over her feet all the ti, like a child learning how to walk again in her case, and we end up helping her move.
"Geez how embarrassing, from Demon Lord to slave to this state, pretty pathetic." She half laughs half sighs that sentence, exhausted with the situation even before it began.
"Don’t be so hard on yourself, this body has just lost a lot of blood and went through a tough transformation, give it ti." I say, adjusting her arm over mine.
Still the damage is so strong that at so point we have to carry her on our backs as we walk where the giant yet stuck tree mushroom point us to, but with Natasha as our guide there was no need to begin with.
"Where are we going?" I ask when we are a few steps away down the path behind the huge mushroom in the central plaza underneath the main crystal.
"We are going to the source of all this disaster, and do what should have been done a long ti ago. We are going to put an end to this ss."
Well that is sothing, if not vague at all still, and I can say that it wasn’t on my plans today to resolve the millennial problem of this area by getting rid of the Ghost City and unraveling its mysteries before lunch, but I guess that’s what we are doing now.
Plus, the crystal around my neck seems to be getting brighter and brighter, so we are still on the right track.
As we keep moving forward a real normal fog starts surronding us, humid and stagnate, wetting our eyelids and clothes, and as soon as we enter a cave entrance at the back of the city, an oval huge passage, we co to discover where all the water around the city has ended up at.
"What in the..." We stop for a mont to have a better look and to rest a little from carrying the lady around, and what we see is a very big opening that leads to a huge lake where stones from various shapes and sizes open a path on the water and peek part of their stone edges out were detailed scribbles sculpted all over them appeared, so with distinct shapes and forms, and so others with round stones places inside them, all gushing out water in so sort of way ad feeding more water into the huge lake, pouring the stone, from holes in them, many small waterfalls feeding the water that was evaporated and absorbed by the strange forces at place, creating a thick fog that, at least, is going up and above, not putting down all its pressure on us, creating an effect of a cloudy day inside the cave.
It was a strange effect to see underground, a river of clouds covering the ceiling up, but what worried the most is the unexpected lake in our path.
"What is this?" Ethan finally gets to ask, and Natasha, with a gloomy lost gaze, says:
"I was the one who had this made, to stop her, ancient magic, cast on the stones, can’t rember how... but the water works as a conduit, the island, yes, she has been isolated by the water, and yet the fog manage to escape... Let’s go, what we need to do to end this ss is right at the center of this lake."
I do not advance even after she says so, and I can feel Ethan’s intense gaze on when he says next:
"Seraph, how about you scout ahead and see if you can find this sneaky fox of ours? We will work our way to the center, we can et up there." Aware of the fear that makes stop on my track against such huge pool of water and, worst of it, the perspective of having to cross it, he elegantly worked around it without addressing my fear directly as he passes a task befitting .
I nod. "Sounds like a plan."
And since my senses are stronger in my owl leopard griffin form than in my human one I see fit to change back, especially when the chances of doing so are far in between, and am t if an interesting surprise.
Because, after all, I still hadn’t seen myself after my evolution.
My white fluffy mix of fur and feathers seed thicker and prettier, the blueish spots and long feathers in my head mismatching in a harmonic way from the white.
But until then is no news, what has strongly changed is that, not only have my claws turned a bluish gemstone, looking very sharp and deadly as if made of diamond itself, but the blue feathers in my back and head turned into the sa substance, and yet such piercing looking gemstone diamond long horn feather would look like flowing feathers if I did not consciously turn then sharp edged, almost like a hedgehog is able to do, the crystal beautifully creating a pattern on my body and around my face, almost as a glass armor.
"Wow, looking good my king." Says Ethan, looking up and down, which makes unconsciously open my wings a little further and puff my chest a little wider.
"Focus on the mission, I’ll be off now." I say, beating my huge wings once without making a sound as I lift off in the air, but lingering a little bit longer than necessary around to show off my new fierce look.
