Three days have passed since sending off the first batch of slis. It’s a sunny day at the Maple Forest Clearing.
Due to the limited space at the Maple Forest Clearing, Shami stopped Jelly from continuing to split sli cubs.
Jelly joyfully bounced around.
"If I catch you trying to gather sli cubs again for a public birthing performance in mid-air, I’ll record it and play it for you when you et a sli you like."
Shami patted Jelly’s belly.
The latter quieted down.
Shami lay under a tree and used a map to check the locations of the sli nests he had set up outside.
The nearest nest is 10 kiloters from Yili Village, while the farthest is about 200 kiloters away.
When the slis were all at the clearing, he could clearly know their condition. But now, after setting them up, he had no way of knowing how they’re doing.
Although he agreed to check them in a month, Shami couldn’t resist wanting to see how they’re doing.
Opened the teleportation gate.
Shami arrived in front of the Sli Cave 10 kiloters outside of Yili Village. As soon as he stepped through the gate, he sensed sothing amiss.
On the clearing before the cave, several lumps of tree sap lay quietly. Shami approached and touched one with his hand.
[Sli Corpse]
[Status: Dead]
This is not right.
Has an adventurer group co to hunt slis just three days in?
Shami furrowed his brows.
In confusion, he quickly ca to the cave entrance, retrieving a crudely-made diamond-shaped crystal from a stone above the entrance using a tool.
When building each cave, he had specifically placed a cheap recording crystal at the entrance. It really proved useful now.
The recording crystal flashed.
[Regular Sli Cave Recording day1]
[Dayti, no movent. Night, no movent. Early morning, no movent.]
"Isn’t this perfectly normal?"
[Regular Sli Cave Recording day2]
[Dayti, no movent.]
[Late night, the thin layer of soil at the cave entrance was slowly pushed away by a sli, and a blue sli jumped out, coming to a clearing with no tree cover under the moonlit night and starting a moonbath.]
"...Though I don’t understand why a sli would want a moonbath, it stands to reason it would want to get so air after a long ti in a confined space."
[The sli looked at the moon and suddenly started bumping into trees, making excited strange calls.]
"Why the sudden urge to bump into trees? Is it similar to a person acting bizarre when no one’s around at ho, doing things not usually done?"
[In the quiet woods, the sounds made by the sli were exceptionally loud. A silver-haired girl erged from the depths of the forest. ’I didn’t expect to et slis here. Could these be part of the sli group invading the village?’ The silver-haired girl raised her sword and struck down. Then she headed in another direction.]
[The sli perished.]
"I have an inkling of who it is..."
The recording crystal finally recorded the tired little face of Lina.
"It was you, wasn’t it, white-haired one! Why were you here in the middle of the night? Why weren’t you sleeping, running outside the village?"
Shami drew a few black lines across his forehead, gradually realizing sothing seed amiss, and quickly checked the remaining nine sli nests.
Sure enough, through the crystal recordings, Shami saw the familiar figure of the white-haired one several tis.
The four sli nests close to the village were all passed by the lost white-haired one once.
Though only the sli from the first nest went out at night, didn’t sleep, went crazy, and got killed.
"What is this? An auto-navigation system for the hero’s mystical creature nests?"
Shami returned to the clearing with concern.
Because the white-haired one had been busy with errands at the Newbie Village recently, he rarely saw her. But whenever he saw the white-haired one, it was always when things were dire.
Either during an invasion of the village or outside a sli nest.
Though she hasn’t caused him serious losses yet, Shami must pay attention to this white-haired hero.
As evening ca, Shami returned to the village and went to Lina’s room at the inn to find her.
"Shami? Do you need sothing?"
Lina opened the door, naturally leaving a path for Shami to enter the room.
Shami pondered and chose to enter the white-haired one’s room.
It was similarly arranged to the flat-haired gold one’s room, with a faint fragrance in the air.
"Did you go out last night? I knocked on your door wanting to give you so fruits I grew, but found no one around."
Shami lied righteously.
"Oh... Sorry... I wasn’t in the village all day yesterday."
The white-haired one embarrassedly scratched her face, closed the door, and followed Shami inside.
"Where did you go?" Shami inquired.
He saw a wooden barrel in front of the large bed, with steaming water inside.
"Oh, I went to the adventurer guild in the city... Because I felt earning money in the village wasn’t possible, I wanted to take so commissions from the guild..."
Lina returned to the bedside, sat down, supported with her hands at her sides. She wore light white shorts, revealing four-fifths of her long, white legs, and her bare feet seed to have moisture on them.
"It was quite late by the ti I returned, so I got lost for a long ti, looking for the road around before getting back to the village. Shami, I ran into a nearly 1.5 ter sli on the way back."
I know, you casually killed it.
"Did you get lost deliberately, or was it accidental?"
"Eh. Of course it was accidental. I didn’t want to get lost. I took many unnecessary routes... I could have brought things back earlier for you; now I don’t know if it’s still fresh... Oh, right, I brought sothing for you."
The white-haired one pouted, suddenly her eyes glead with light, quickly stood up, and used her storage ring to produce a packed al box wrapped with ice cubes on an empty table.
"What did you bring ?"
"This. A super crepe from Royal Capital Rikamai. Didn’t we see adventurers eating them when the adventure group ca to the village?"
The white-haired one cheerily handed the crepe to Shami.
"I thought it slled so good. I figured you hadn’t tried it, so I bought one to bring back for you."
Shami accepted it.
"I bought one for Lureya as well. I’ll deliver it later. Yours has the most ingredients, Shami."
Lina returned to the bed, sat, and gently swung her legs, looking expectantly at Shami.
Shami could only take a bite and give a positive review of the taste.
"That’s great~"
Lina happily lifted the corners of her mouth.
Though it’s a very heartwarming scene, Shami couldn’t help but worry, furrowing his brows slightly.
Perhaps it’s from being around the flat-haired gold for too long, but why does this daily conversation style feel so out of place? Isn’t it too normal!
