"Edogawa-sensei, your sli looks like it’s about to die..."

The staff opened the pet box and saw the jelly-like sli barely clinging to life.

"Oh, the sli was just taking an afternoon nap. Even the principal had a dead expression on his face when he woke up from afternoon naps during his student days, right?"

Shami slowly gazed up at the sky.

The staff mber’s doubts were smoothly dispelled.

Shami couldn’t enter the lab and had to wait outside for the results.

However, he could see everything happening inside the lab through the glass window.

The jelly was asured for height, weight, vision, and so on, in sequence.

When it ca to the final blood drawing step, as the staff took out a syringe to draw blood, the jelly had already absorbed all of what it had just drunk into its body.

The staff gradually drew out a strange liquid. It started as a bright blue liquid and gradually turned into various colors.

"Wait a minute, isn’t sli blood usually a bluish liquid? Why are there so many colors? It even slls good..."

"I even caught a whiff of tomato sauce, did you? Is there sothing wrong with my nose?"

"Why not give it a taste? I’ve slled this aroma while eating hotpot."

"Don’t make such a low-level laboratory mistake, you fools!"

The mont the blood drawing was complete, the jelly jumped out of the lab and dove back into the pet box.

Shami quickly took it to the bathroom, where in a stall, the jelly vomited out all the strange liquid Shami had fed it, preserving the sli leader’s body’s purity.

——

After the collection was done, there was still quite a bit of ti left.

The staff took Shami for a tour around the Biological Garden, while also letting Shami release the sli to allow it to move freely and make it easier for them to observe the sli’s natural habits.

The environnt in the Biological Garden was very diverse.

It even featured artificial glaciers, deserts, and swamps.

At the sa ti, there were many creatures kept in giant wire sh cages.

At the sight of unfamiliar people, many creatures imdiately let out expelling roars.

"Be careful, this is the beast zone."

The staff kindly reminded.

"There are a lot of creatures here; even Kato Taka, who ran away before, is here."

Shami noticed that the surroundings were obviously a bit chaotic.

"That’s because there are many birds here. Usually, there are also many foreign birds gathering here, and many seeds stick to the bird feathers and drop to the ground, then various plants grow. They used to clear them, but later they got lazy."

Shami understandingly nodded and started observing with interest.

As they walked down a path, the now-improved jelly looked excitedly at the surrounding creatures, its eyes constantly shining.

The accompanying staff quietly recorded the jelly’s behavior.

Soon, the path narrowed into a pebble-paved lane flanked by shrubs.

The jelly, which had been peering around, suddenly stopped, silently gazing at a small part in the middle of the shrub, and adorably jumped over, rubbing itself against a bush.

It looked very enjoying.

The staff quickly docunted this sli behavior.

"It seems the sli also likes using bushes to scratch itself, sothing we hadn’t seen before."

Shami had several black lines across his forehead.

Could it be that those young girls always pet the jelly, causing it to develop such a peculiar habit?

But after a while, the jelly still showed no sign of leaving, continuously rubbing against the bush, casting a hopeful glance at Shami.

Shami furrowed his brows slightly, unclear about what jelly ant by this.

"It seems like this sli really likes scratching itself with this kind of thing. Why don’t you take so back with you, Edogawa-sensei, as a thank-you gift for helping us this ti?"

But isn’t that just a roadside bush that nobody wants! Who takes this kind of thing as a gift!

Shami slowly walked to the sli’s side, crouched down, and curiously touched the seemingly ordinary bush made of intertwined brambles and thorns.

Just at this mont, the thorns seed to tremble slightly.

Shami sensed sothing.

"Alright, then I’ll graciously accept."

Shami followed jelly’s gaze, looking toward the base of the cluster of bramble bushes.

Looking like a knee-high cluster of several tens of brambles, it had just one root.

Shami uprooted the whole bramble.

Evening.

The living room.

A few girls returned from school.

"Shami, is this tonight’s dinner?"

A white-haired girl glanced at the bramble bush on the coffee table.

"Isn’t it more likely to scratch our throats?"

"Exactly. If you were to use it as a potted plant, it would hurt your hands too much. You might bleed every ti you touch it."

"It would be nice on the balcony; it could ward off burglars."

"But then I wouldn’t be able to get in."

"Can’t Saili enter normally? Why always co in through the balcony? Are you trying to let the readers recognize this entrance style, so every ti soone enters from the balcony, they think of Saili?"

"What on earth are you talking about? I can’t understand a word anymore!"

The girls gathered around, chattering incessantly.

Shami smiled proudly.

"This is no ordinary bramble; it’s alive. It was just validated by the Demon King as a new kind of demon creature."

"Huh?!"

The chatting girls all showed expressions of surprise and obediently sat down.

——

The ti returned to not long ago.

Shami was astonished as he looked at the bramble in front of him.

But it was true, back then when jelly lingered expectantly, refusing to leave, wanting him to bring this plant back, it was alive.

He touched the bramble.

[Na: Bramble]

[Status: Alive]

[Remark: Very tenacious vitality]

A living bramble imdiately made Shami think of the demon tree spirit.

"Could it be a tree spirit?"

Shami curiously flipped through the Demons Atlas but found no relevant information.

"But this bramble’s condition is almost the sa as a tree spirit. Very good at hiding. But in crucial monts, it can act on its own."

Shami reached this conclusion because, when he brought it back and placed it on the table, jelly jumped up and started rubbing against the bramble.

Just during the short ti he changed his shoes,

the bramble had grown three to four tis larger, with jelly happily suspended in midair, wrapped by bramble strands.

"What are you two playing at!"

Shami exclaid.

The bramble instantly reverted to its original form.

Finally, Shami found so reliable information on the blank pages of the Demons Atlas.

The demons currently listed in the Demons Atlas were not all demons from the beginning.

Many of the demons now recorded in the Demons Atlas originally were natural beings that appeared on the Aireland Continent.

After the Demon King collected these creatures, he endowed them with magic power, gradually turning them into demons, and finally included them in the Demons Atlas.

The most amazing thing about the Aireland Continent is its creativity; it can create countless living beings.

"So the bramble before my eyes is also a naturally appearing creature on the Aireland Continent."

He looked at the Demons Atlas again.

On the last few pages of the Demons Atlas, there’s a detailed account added by each reigning Demon King about the demon species included.

[1st Demon King: 45 types]

[15th Demon King: 5 types]

[... ...]

[71st Demon King: -1 type.]

"Only Luwaka has a negative number! It must be about that debacle where he almost let all the tree spirits go! What a complete failure!"

[Adding new demons to the Demons Atlas will permanently record your achievents and provide generous rewards based on the nature of the newly added demons.]

Shami looked at the bramble before him, deciding to add this unprecedented creature to the Demons Atlas.

Shami followed the steps to add a new demon to the Demons Atlas.

The central point of whether a creature can beco a demon lies in whether it can accept magic power and trust the Demon King.

Shami observed the bramble, attempting to give it so magic power.

The bramble resisted a bit, with dozens of bramble strands flailing like a soft sword on the table, causing Shami to dodge quickly.

But at that mont, the natural affinity from the Elf Race within the magic power took effect.

The wildly swinging bramble strands gradually turned into gentle dancing.

Shami breathed a sigh of relief.

Arigato, flat golden-headed friend.

As far as magic power was concerned, the bramble posed no issues.
