In the middle of the arena, Prince Edward was on his knees with his head low, looking at the floor. He just committed a heinous cri early, and I found it strange that he had not moved since then.
Suddenly, after a few minutes of silence, Edward finally moved and stood up on his feet. He then slowly turned around and ca to face .
"So the biggest threat, the Raevender family, is finally here."
That was what he said. Even though those words ca out of Edward, I had a gut feeling that it was not him who said them.
It seed like my fears had co true and Edward had been mind-controlled by soone else. Edward was probably manipulated through either the armor or the sword, or might be both.
First, it was Edith; now him? What a couple goal.
"What happened to you, Prince Edward? Why did you kill the emperor, who is your father?"
"It's none of your business, young Raevender." A smug, creepy smile appeared on his face. "If you didn't want your queendom to get involved, I advise you not to bother us."
"I'm sorry, but I can't. This is an international-level issue that should be addressed as quickly as possible. The assassination of the emperor is not a small matter that should be ignored. Do you recognize that you just committed high treason, which could lead you to execution?"
"Kuh. Of course, I am well aware. But since you said that you want to deal with it, then I have to deal with you. He claid that these are enough to overwhelm a mber of your family."
After Edward pointed his sword forward, the great sword in his hands suddenly radiated a pale light for around a second. All of a sudden, a shockwave was then released from the sword that was powerful enough to move nearly bodies by a few feet.
From that mont on, the seemingly plain great sword from before had unsealed its hidden powers. Also, the sword also unmasked its concealnt, and now I was able to appraise it. And man, I was truly shocked by what I was seeing.

Description: One of the legendary 「Seven Weapons of Virtues」 series that recognizes its owner. The blade was made out of an alloy of violettite and celestium, harder than adamantite and has higher mana conductivity than mithrill. By wielding this weapon, the wielder will gain an additional five hundred levels. Can only be obtained from the reward chest of defeating a high-difficulty dungeon boss.
Effect: Largesse—the capability to turn a piece of equipnt into the physical material of the Great Sword of Charity as well as inheriting its effects (with the exception of Indestructible). The wielder also has the ability to lend the weapon and its paired equipnt to a single recipient.
Indestructible—This weapon cannot be destroyed unless it is against a mythical grade.

For the first ti, I finally saw a legendary weapon series other than the Demonic series. The great sword, whose tip was pointed at , apparently belonged to the opposite of the Demonic series, the Seven Weapons of Virtues.
Setting its hidden owner aside, I was intrigued by the weapon's abilities. First off, it was able to give its owner five hundred more levels, which was already overpowered for many people.
But with its power to turn any piece of equipnt into the sa kind, the owner of the Great Sword of Charity could easily gain a thousand levels. It was like transforming from a Level 1 crook to a mafia boss, which was actually an understatent, in a second. Or from an ordinary adventurer to a High Human level of shit.
The thing that balanced it out was that the upgraded equipnt did not possess the legendary weapon's Indestructible, which explained how Erik's adamantine rapier was able to scrape the armor. The user could probably reverse the effect at will if the equipnt was severely damaged and then find another one for replacent.
If I was not wrong, the Great Sword of Charity could be the counterpart of Mother's Demonic Rapier Mammon. If Mother's legendary weapon stole abilities, that weapon shared its abilities and itself with others. It might be that it was the only legendary weapon that could be wielded by multiple people.
"What the—?!" Surprised, Warren exclaid. "Why am I feeling that Edward is becoming more powerful?!"
"Francis!" Celeste looked at his friend. "Where the hell did your family get that thing?!"
"I don't think our family knows its origin. It had been kept in our vault unless my uncle brought it up!"
"Alright. I think it's not the right ti for that." I reminded them without turning myself. "For now, please move His Imperial Highness's body to a safer location."
"We understand. We will do it, Your Highness Raphael."
Following my words without hesitation, the young noblen and the dics carefully carried Emperor Alfred's body before safely getting out of the arena. The knights also dragged the bodies of their breathing companions, leaving only Edward, myself, and dead bodies in the arena.
Fighting against soone as equipped as him with my current daily driver sword would be challenging, considering the build quality and the weapon grade between our weapons. It was true that my blade had upgraded from blood steel to scarlettite, but mine was just between relic and legendary grade compared to his true legendary.
"Just the two of us here in the battlefield, young Raevender. You are probably aware of how powerful I have beco. Let's see who will be the last man standing."
"Who said I am alone?"
"Hm?"
"Don't forget that I am still here."
Hearing another voice, Edward turned his face left and saw a man in black under a mast, Erik, who just raised up from the crash. After brushing so dust off his shoulder, Erik stepped forward and joined my side.
"I can see that you survived that attack barely unhard. But realistically speaking, I was just testing my powers, so it was not that all-powerful. But this ti, I will show the whole empire—no, the whole world—what I am really worth by defeating the Sword Saint and the Great Sage's child."
"I know that it isn't actually Edward we are facing right now; it's pretty obvious from your sudden change of behavior. Whoever you are, I will find you and expose you."

Afterwards, our battle against this "Edward" finally started.
