507 Another Day In The Arena

The next day, the second day of the tournant, we ca back to the sa VIP seats of the coliseum to watch the remaining matches of the competition. By the way, I had a lovely threeso last night with Iris and Sophia, and so my sister with Christine had their own. As expected, since this was the last day, the number of audiences present in the coliseum was larger than yesterday. The seats were almost full. The sa went for the number of influential people coming here to watch today's matches. Speculating that the insurgents would make their move today, I had deployed a few of my remote visions to observe the coliseum and the major parts of the Imperial Capital as well. My eyes had detected so suspicious activities around the city and began eyeing them to keep them in check.

Nevertheless, I was pretty excited for the fights in the arena today. Yesterday, thirty-two fighters had fought for the top sixteen. Today, the top eight, quarter finals, semifinals, and the grand finals would be held today with a total of fifteen matches, which was a fight less than yesterday's. The matches started in the morning, and seven matches had been concluded before noon. This morning, I witnessed how the reigning champion, Boris the Terror, pulverized his opponent, literally. Thankfully, his opponent's body was fully restored by the Resurrection Bracelet. Boris was indeed as strong as they said, and many had expected him to beco the champion again. Other than Boris, there were a few who stood out in the competition, such as Sten, one of the top adventurers of the Kingdom of Boulder. Earlier, he showed the audience how good he was with his sword and how he easily defeated his around Level 300 opponent. Those two were the top contenders of the tournant, but there were so underdogs and unknown warriors who were impressive on their own. One of them was Azrael's mask, Erik the Phantom Fencer, whose fight was about to start right now. "Based on his match yesterday, what can you say about the Phantom Fencer, Sister?"

"The one with the mask? I think he was kind of impressive. His movents are remarkably refined, and his technique vocabulary is broad. In addition to his level, he is probably going to end high later."

"I see."

"Why did you suddenly get interested in him, Raphael?"

"Nothing. I just want to hear your opinions."

Well, I was just checking on the reactions they had on Erik. You know, I wanted to see the results of how effective this act was. But it seed like Erik was being overshadowed by the other fighters. "But honestly, I am feeling sothing weird about him for so reason. I could not pinpoint what it is." My sister uttered those words in a low tone. "Maybe I was just imagining things."

"You might have probably encountered him before, Louise," Christine said. "Or maybe he is reminding you of soone or sothing?"

"I don't know. But maybe I should forget it. It doesn't really matter right now."

It seed like my sister was having a feeling of familiarity toward Erik, but, thankfully, she imdiately got over it. Relatedly, my mothers were having the sa feeling toward Gabrielle. But let us hope they would never know. Anyway, the fight of Erik was about to start now. His opponent was playing in a different style, which was generally disadvantageous against lees, but we did not know. That said, the announcer just started calling out the nas of the next fighters. ◆◇◆◇◆◇

"The fight between Erik the Phantom Fencer and Harry the Myriad Battlemage begins!"

When the announcer officially started the match between Erik and Harry, both of them were in unison and did not imdiately make a move. They were just brandishing their weapons and walked slowly in a circle around the arena. Even though a swordsman had disadvantages over a magic caster in close combat, Erik decided not to take action as he was aware that his opponent this ti was a famous adventurer known for his proficient talent in both magic and close quarter combat. Harry was a man in his early thirties who had blonde hair and purple eyes. He was equipped with a robe made out of the silk and threads of a Vermin Kaiser, a sheathed sword hanging on his waist, and he wielded a Black Treant staff in his grip. Just as his nickna implied, Harry was specialized in both magical and physical combat. In spite of mastering two roles, Harry was still considered one of the most skillful mages in the empire. With a strength of around Level 500 strong, almost no one could match him in close and ranged combat. For that reason, Harry was still undefeated since he joined the tournant last year, sohow. He knew what his limits were and was often choosy with his opponents. So last year, he imdiately forfeited knowing he would fight Boris, who he had no match for. With the Extra Skill: Analysis, as his secret weapon, he could see the stats and abilities of his opponents. Based on the skills and the performances of Erik so far, Harry was confident that he could win against him. In addition, he had found out what Erik's weaknesses were.

(It will be a tough fight, but I'll win.)

Fueled by confidence, Harry tapped his staff on the floor, and his magic show began. Not to ntion that he was a silent caster. (Level 9... Winterlake.)

Whoosh.

In an instant, faster than Erik could react, the entire floor was now covered with six-inch-thick ice, which caught Erik's feet. Erik looked down, but then the ice quickly climbed up to his legs that eventually covered his legs. In order to free himself, Erik used his rapier to break the ice. The mont he was freed, Erik vanished before Harry's eyes, but Harry had expected him to do that. (I see. So he could make dozens of them, huh?)

On his radar, Erik's presence was everywhere around the arena, solidifying his assumptions about Erik using countless Afterimages. Harry waited for a few more seconds until the mont he waited for ca.
