With one last glance at my stats I nodded in satisfaction before focusing back on the landscape before .

"So, what exactly are we doing here again?" I asked with a slight frown, and Nadia glanced my way. She was wearing a netted blouse — I could see her bra if I looked too closely — and a huge black jacket that hung from her shoulders down to her knees, a leather skirt wrapped tightly against her hips extending just below her thighs, black socks stretching from her knees down to the slick black covered shoes she had on.

She was on fire today.

There was also that cold expression fixed on her face. I didn’t know why she was acting this way — probably related to yesterday — but I decided not to comnt on it. Sotis it’s better not to antagonize a sleeping beast. You might just make the whole situation far worse than it needs to be.

"Today you will be scaling this mountain."

"What?" I blurted, eyes wide. She stared at for a mont, then turned back and gestured with a tilt of her chin toward a mountain so ridiculously huge I unconsciously gulped.

It was worth ntioning that we were still a long distance from the mountain itself, and it was still absurdly massive.

"Today we will be working on your stamina and your mana capacity," she explained, then added, "Try not to waste all your mana before you make it to the top. Unlike last ti, I will not save you if things get out of hand, so you are completely on your own." Her hands remained folded as she spoke.

"...I don’t think I’ll make it," I muttered, staring up at the unrealistic objective looming before .

"That’s for you to worry about, not . I an it when I say you’re alone here, so try your best not to die," she said. Then slowly, she began to levitate into the air.

"HOLD UP! JUST LIKE THAT?! AREN’T YOU GOING TO GIVE SOTHING — ANYTHING?!" I asked, but she only sent a cold look before stretching her hand forward. A magic circle appeared, and she was whisked away.

...Okay.

She really, really left here alone.

"Shit." I cursed and turned back to the humongous rock of a mounting looming far ahead of .

’Is she crazy or what?’

I an, I know she’s mad about sothing I must have done but just can’t rember — but this is taking it too far. She’s literally trying to kill .

’Stem, can you tell what her problem is?’ I just had to ask since it made no damn sense to .

[I can’t. Her sudden shift in attitude is a surprise to as well. But looking back, it happened right after the incident with the incident with the bite... perhaps there’s sothing more to it. Sothing only the original Leo would understand.]

That’s right. She bit when things got intense.

...Wait. She didn’t actually suck my blood, did she?

That thought had instinctively reaching for my neck.

"Huh?"

I could feel a depression right at that spot — a clear indication that her teeth had forcefully sunk into my skin.

Why didn’t I feel the pain though?

Did the pleasure overshadow even sothing like that?

[Welp. I think she did.]

"...She did."

[It appears so.]

"But why would she suck my blood? Is she so kind of... vampire?" I frowned, a creeping unease settling over .

[No. Such beings aren’t recorded anywhere in the history of this world.]

Right. It’s just elves, humans, and those creatures from the past.

There was no ntion of vampires anywhere — not in the records, not in my own knowledge of this world. And since Stem didn’t know either, the chances of them existing here should be zero. Or close enough to it.

"Then why did she do that?"

[Perhaps a kink?] Stem suggested, and I was just about to wave it off — but then I actually thought about it.

Could that be it?

So kind of weird kink?

I an... it wasn’t impossible.

"Then why is she acting out? It’s not my fault she went all freaky on ," I mused.

Just then, my eyes shifted — and landed on a humanoid figure standing right beside . Bald head, white skin, no eyes, two indents where a nose should be, and enormous fangs.

"KREAAAGGGGGGGGH!" it bellowed.

I stumbled back several steps, petrified. How long had the damn thing been standing there? Why hadn’t it attacked? More importantly — why hadn’t Stem said anything?!

[SOTHING IS.... %^&()_ .... THERE APPEARS TO BE ^&()_@ ]

[System consciousness has been suspended.]

Wait — WHAT?!

The monster, which had been standing in place, suddenly lurched forward in staggered, unstable steps — but so fast I barely managed to raise the veil of darkness before it struck.

"Argh—"

[After nurous intense scrutiny, it has been deduced that the system consciousness has deviated from intended purpose.]

"No — THIS CAN’T BE FUCKING HAPPENING! NOT RIGHT NOW!"

Was this a coincidence, or what?!

"Stem!" I shouted, but to no avail. No response.

BOOM.

The veil of darkness shattered on the next strike. The monster’s arm descended, its claws ripping flesh from my abdon.

Oh no.

Instinctively, I manifested a dark object — imagining sothing with an insane edge — and swung down, chopping the creature’s arm clean off. Gooey grey blood gushed from the stump. I kicked it back with a mana-enhanced leg and staggered away, stumbling and retreating until I found my footing. I clutched my abdon and looked down.

Blood was pouring out profusely.

I was royally fucked.
