Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
My eyes reluctantly opened at the sound of the banging door, making wince in discomfort. The world was blurred, and my head ached like crazy.
"Who the fuck?" I muttered as my room light nearly blinded .
I covered my eyes with one palm while I searched the bed with the other for my phone. My hand touched a book, and when I looked over, it was Lord Ravus’s diary laid next to .
"God damnit." I groaned as I picked it up, while a fist-sized spatial space tore open next to and I tossed it inside.
After owning a rcenary group and engaging in nurous missions, I wasn’t the type to sleep too deeply. Even though I felt groggy, I knew Lord Ravus’s diary was sothing no one else was allowed to see—or it may arouse suspicion.
After waving my hands across the bed and still not finding my phone, I abandoned it and dragged my feet to the door. I unlocked it and yanked it open, only to see the short devil standing at my doorstep with a deep frown.
"What do you want?" I asked Pala while rubbing my eyes.
I was too tired to be mad at her for disturbing my peace.
"You didn’t attend the funeral rites of our comrades," Pala snapped in a loud voice, but I wasn’t moved.
After wiping my eyes, my vision beca clearer, revealing Pala’s summarized figure dressed in an oversized black tuxedo that made her look stupid.
Wait... I noticed a difference.
In the past, I considered her cute—but after I had regained my mory, what was once cute just looked stupid.
Was the cuteness an effect from her [talent], which I had surpassed due to my high intelligence stat?
"Well, what do you have to say for yourself?" Pala’s annoying voice shattered my train of thought, causing my brows to knit.
"Are we talking about the sa comrades you watched die and did nothing?" I asked with a raised eyebrow, and Pala shrank.
Her eyes evaded mine, darting around as if she was looking for a response written on the ground.
Without saying another word, I slamd the door shut and locked it. However, as I turned to my bed, I saw Pala standing behind with her hands on her waist and a an frown on her face.
I raised an eyebrow but still said nothing. Her [Child’s Play] talent was a mystery. One I would uncover when I beca strong enough to take her life and take her power for myself.
I walked past her, acting as if she wasn’t there, and threw myself on the bed. The funeral service was ant to be held by 10 p.m. If she was here, it ant it should be sowhere around midnight. I should be asleep—not talking to an old woman impersonating little girls.
For a mont there was peace, but the bitch just had to open her damn mouth.
"I have a task for you," she said. "To help you gain so extra contribution points and stay ahead of the class."
"I’m not interested," I responded dryly, not bothering to open my eyes.
Then I felt the bed sink beside as if soone was stepping on it. Begrudgingly, I opened my eyes, only to see Pala standing beside and looking down at my face while dirtying my white sheet with her filthy shoes.
’With my [Might of Man] talent and Lord Ravus’s help, will we be able to kill her?’
I was sincerely considering taking her back to my territory and giving it a chance. But I soon pushed the thought aside because it was no different from suicide.
If I could see her stats like that of Lord Ravus, I would’ve been able to determine what step to take—but since I couldn’t, I could only endure until she revealed her true strength.
"My God, I can’t believe you. Many students would die to have a chance to get extra contribution points!" she yelled, and droplets of saliva fell on my face.
Bitch!
I glared at her before facing the opposite direction and shutting my eyes tight.
"Then get one of them to help you." I gave a simple response, yet it was t by a hysterical scream.
I felt Pala fall on the bed, kicking the air and punching the board while repeating the word.
"You..."
For so reason, she could never speak beyond that word.
___
Tired of her tantrums, I slowly sat up and turned my gaze to her. She paused upon sensing my gaze and sheepishly turned to et my eyes.
"What do you want?" I conceded.
I would rather help her out and not have to see her again for a while than endure another minute of this. Since I wasn’t strong enough to create a permanent solution, I had no other choice but to succumb.
A mischievous smile blood on Pala’s face, as if she expected this to be the outco. She hopped to her feet with great enthusiasm before speaking.
"A rift opened a month ago in Louisiana. Last night, one of the support units erged from the rift badly wounded...."
Slowly, my eyes widened a bit with interest, and Pala seed to notice because her smile spread wider and her voice gained confidence.
"According to him, the situation is hopeless. It’s only a matter of ti before they enter our world," she said.
My surprise was replaced with a frown.
"Who are they?" I asked, my interest piqued.
But Pala slowly shook her head, and her smile faded.
"She succumbed to her injuries before she could tell," Pala sighed heavily. "It’s a code red. The governor of Louisiana is requesting help to secure the periter and make sure anything that steps out of that gate dies—or Arica will end up losing another state to these monsters."
