The bosses from the deeper floors of the underground tower began to emerge.

"At long last, we possess not only intelligence but true freedom! Our power is immense and superior. Let us feast on these pitiful humans and raise an indestructible army of the dead!"

From Floor 12, the Bone Catabs, the Ossified Dragon Lich Valthorak emerged. He rumbled with nether aura, spreading waves of darkness and flames of death with every heavy footstep. The massive creature was a wild dragon monster skeleton fused with thousands of bones from other beasts, forming additional wings and heads. Purple crystals glowed within his ribcage, constantly radiating curses. This beast had once been a wild dragon monster, not an intelligent or divine kind like Ignatius, his brother, or the Dragon King.

"Heheh... Eehehehe... Huh? Where’s Mal’thir?! And... everyone else?! T-They’re gone?! Oh no, no, no, no, no, no!!! What did you do to them?!"

From Floor 13, the Void Mirror Chamber, the Mirror Abomination Elyra’thul warped into existence. She gazed frantically in all directions while distorting space itself, several mirrors orbiting around her. She was a shapeshifting entity made of living reflective crystal and shadow, capable of copying the appearance and abilities of her opponents.

"So they lost. But it won’t be the same for us. Now that we have gained intelligence and power, we will govern this world on our own! We monsters, born with immense strength, are superior to all other lifeforms. We will bee the ultimate beings of this world."

From Floor 14, the Crimson Hellforge, the Demon Forgemaster Xul’gash stepped forward. A hulking four-armed demon blacksmith fused with molten purple crystal armor and giant spider legs, he carried a massive hammer-anvil hybrid weapon.

"Give me... the tender flesh of children... I need nourishment... Give them to me...! I need them to make my own children... I shall create the largest nest... from your corpses..."

From Floor 15, the Parasite Nest, the Broodmother N’glatha emerged. A gigantic, bloated spider-worm hybrid with hundreds of pulsating egg sacs, her face still vaguely resembled a beautiful woman, though now stretched and monstrous. She was the most aberrant boss Arafunn could remember.

"It appears you are late by three seconds, Thal’vorr."

From Floor 16, the Eternal Labyrinth, the Time-Weaver Arachnos appeared out of nowhere. A tall, elegant spider-centaur abomination with clock-like purple crystals embedded throughout his body, he could manipulate time in localized areas. He had once been incredibly tricky to fight, but not impossible to defeat. Now he was warped even further, his power greatly strengthened.

"Silence, Arachnos. We are now a group, allies. Let us dispatch these pitiful humans so we can return to philosophizing and discovering the truth of magic later."

From Floor 17, the Abyss Throne Room, the Void King Thal’vorr shifted into the scene through the void of darkness itself. A towering shadowy tyrant clad in regal armor made of crystallized void energy, he wore a crown of writhing spider legs and possessed three glowing eyes. He was a master of gravity and shadows.

"Heheheh! I love the fresh air... and the smell of blood!"

From Floor 18, the Necrotic Bloom Garden, Florah the Corrupted Dryad appeared. Once a beautiful nature spirit, she was now a towering plant-spider hybrid covered in black flowers that screamed constantly as they bloomed. Corrupted flora surged endlessly around her.

"It is time for us to finally battle for our ideals, for what we believe is right. At long last, we are people just like you, humans!"

From Floor 19, the Thunderous Abyss Arena, the Storm Breaker Behemoth Gorgorath advanced, his steps making the ground tremble constantly. He was a colossal minotaur-cyclops fused with lightning crystal and draconic features, wielding a giant axe capable of cutting through entire mountains.

"Mal’thir is dead... I see. It seems he could not defeat the heroes. But that does not matter. We will put forth extra effort in his place. For Lady Lolth, and the freedom of all sentient monsters!"

And lastly, from Floor 20, the Fallen Guardian Sanctum, the Divine Sentinel Zerathiel led the monsters. The strongest boss so far, he was a fallen angelic knight golem whose armor was almost entirely overtaken by Lolth’s purple crystals. Immensely tough, he had bee the new leader of this group.

As Zerathiel raised his divine golden sword, all the other monsters roared in unison, acpanied by hundreds of monstrous aberrations at their side.

"I suppose there’s no going back now," Ninhursag sighed. "It’s us or them, as they say."

"Indeed," Arafunn nodded, his eyes growing sharper. "Zack and Luck are gathering all the survivors... we cannot bother them."

"Let’s do this on our own!" Ninhursag roared.

"We’ll hold the front! You will not pass, monsters!" Arafunn roared.

The two stepped forward and charged against the horde. Armies of smaller monsters surged to stop them: knight-like golems, giant spiders, monstrous demonic trees, and more.

But Arafunn and Ninhursag moved as one, striking at lightning speed. Feral claws, beastly roars, symphonies of sound, and slashes made of pure melody decimated hundreds of giant monsters, preventing them from causing further deaths.

"You damn humans...! Who do you think you are?! Perish this instant!" Florah the Corrupted Dryad roared. She spread her garden of nightmares everywhere, blocking their path.

However, Ninhursag broke through forcefully, grabbed her, and tore her apart with her bare hands.

"Gyaaaaaaahh— Kidding!"

The Dryad immediately reappeared from below. She had already spread her massive roots everywhere, emerging as a clone, then another, and another.

"Enough."

Arafunn spoke, and everything became still. In that instant, his sword struck once and then pierced hundreds of times. All twelve of Florah the Corrupted Dryad’s different cores underground shattered instantly as winds, melody, and vibrations tore her apart.

"W-What’s...! What is thisssssss?!"

As she agonized, her body exploded and burned away, shocking the other monsters. Yet they did not give up. They charged forward and clashed together, bining their powers as a team. Some warped gravity itself, others slowed the heroes while accelerating the monsters, some healed and maintained barriers, others launched full offensives, and one even forged weapons and armor for the monsters in real time.

Ninhursag and Arafunn fought with all their might, but they were already being overwhelmed once more, especially as ten additional bosses made their way toward them.

This was a hopeless fight. Without more heroes, they would ultimately die. They had to evacuate and get out of here once everyone was secured.

But could they really do that?

As they fought with tooth and nail, they remained pletely unaware of the powerful presences stepping into the city after emerging from a dungeon, guided by Nephilim.

Allan, Faylen, and Shade had entered the city and now gazed upon the chaos.

And they instantly stepped forward to help.
