The Drone looked at , raising his fists defensively. I glared at it for another mont…

Then turned away and flew back to my guards.

I didn't want to touch this *dog* with a ten-foot-pole. Fighting him would be like fighting a turd instead of walking around it—I'd just sar shit all over myself!

He and the other Drones were too stupid to give information, anyway. I was just going to send so Commando Bees later to tail them to their nests.

For now, I returned to Pollenia and waited.

In ten minutes, she picked two dozen Drones, each of whom was ecstatic for a chance with the Queen, even as a part of her harem, and we could fly back.

I was going to insist she made them wear clothing. Even if they resisted.

With Pollenia and her harem settling in what I was calling Hive Hornet's Nest, I went to the main hive to give Bloodhero necessary orders.

Afterward, I went to speak for Ambrosia; however, her Attendants stopped before I could enter her chamber.

"The Queen is laying eggs, Father," they said.

Indeed—I saw Nurse Bees entering and leaving the royal chambers, carrying eggs with them. In the past, Ambrosia personally placed every egg in their honeycomb cell, but now she delegated this duty.

Each egg was the size of a quarter. It was hard to imagine bees growing to full size from them in just 22 days. Even fewer with the 'Faster Youth Developnt' gene.

"Yeeeeah, not the best ti. I guess I will co later, girls. The miracle of childbirth is not for the weak of heart!"

"Nectus?" Ambrosia's voice ca from inside, sounding not strained at all. "Did you want sothing? I can talk with you."

"Uh, it can *really* wait, Amby! I was just leaving!"

"Nectus, your words only convince that it's important to hear you out *now*. Co here—or stay outside, if you want—and tell what it is. Did sothing go wrong with Pollenia and her Drones?"

Queen Attendants that were hanging from the outer walls of the royal chambers politely gave so space. I clung to the wall, too, letting my wings rest.

"No, not at all! She found herself a nice little harem… Amby, Amby, tell !" I even pressed myself closer to the wax flap that divided us, "Be honest, I won't be angry… Did you have a harem before , too?"

There was a pause.

"Why would you be angry, Nectus? Of course, I had a harem. Many, many Drones—they don't live long, after all. But after the last cold season, all the Drones I found suddenly went ill and died at once. The drone congregations areas were empty, too—I think Drones there got ill as well. You were the only one who survived. I thought that the illness was why you were so strange—but it was alright if it all went in your head."

I listened to this with wide eyes.

What a turn of events…

It explained why I was alone in the hive, and why Ambrosia was so intent on having back then. I wondered whether the Goddess of Bees put here by accident, or because this was a good starting opportunity.

And if it was the second, then did mysterious sickness happen on its own, or thanks to the bee-bitch?

"Did Drones at the Drone congregation area look healthy, Nectus? There had to have been new generations of them. I also think I'll lay several Drone eggs…"

Drone eggs would be those unfertilized by my sperm. Queen Bees could just decide if they wanted to fertilize an egg, and the hatched Drones would be their genetic clones. While being male.

I had no idea how it worked.

"They were healthy enough to bash each other's faces, sure. And no, don't lay Drone eggs, Amby! That's actually what I wanted to talk with you about. Instead of Drone eggs, we must make more Queens! Two dozen Queens!"

"*What*? You… Do you want them to fight to death, after all? I don't like this idea. Not to ntion, our hive doesn't have even enough bees for *one* more new Queen to build her own colony!"

"Well, first, why shouldn't Queens lay their eggs in *our* colony? So ants do that with their Queens, and they live just fine! But actually, I had an even better plan. The first stage is already being executed, but this will be… the first and a half stage."

Ambrosia stayed silent for a mont.

"When I finish laying eggs, you will gather the Council and tell us everything."

I grinned.

"Yes, great idea. This will require all my Advisers to prepare. Let's have the Council gather tomorrow."

But fate didn't let just rest until then.

Last evening, after turning off the extra smarts for a good night's sleep, I laid in a makeshift bed with my—now not pregnant again—wife. This morning, I was woken up by voices outside our chambers.

"Soone, wake up! Father, Queen Ambrosia, should we *not* have let him in?"

"Of course you should have!"

My eyes shot open.

The last voice was *male*.

Ambrosia stirred next to . Unlike myself, she looked only more beautiful with drowsy eyes and hair tangled from sleep.

"Mmm… What's going on? I sll… I sll another Drone…"

"I'm going to look, Amby. Just stay here!" I said, hurriedly putting on my clothing.

Not naked, I flew out of the royal chambers—and stopped right there. Despite what I told, Ambrosia—also not naked—followed close behind.

Two ters in front of us hovered a Drone Bee, whose way was blocked only by a couple of Queen Attendants.

An ordinary—*absolutely* naked—Drone Bee, just like the ones Pollenia brought ho.

"Aha!" he shouted, noticing us. "Queen! Queen, you should have ! Mate with ! I am very strong and virile!"

Then, despite his stamina being at 〔2/10〕, that idiot even tried to do the awful hip-thrusting move at Ambrosia.

I saw red.
