Chapter 605: All are bad

“We can’t argue here forever! What if sobody notices our presence? We are already lucky that nobody fell on top of our heads yet, crying ‘Cheaters, cheaters’!” the Goddess of Bees exclaid, returning my attention to the conversation between the gods. “The way this goes, it will be much simpler, faster and more effective to clean our tracks by killing everybody who has this knowledge. We might even scour their minds for it while nobody sees…”
“We might as well let Nectus decide, since all the suggested ideas require his consent,” Dalmanrach interjected in a calm voice. He hid his hands in the sleeves of his cloak and turned to look at with his round, bird eyes. “Nectus, what would you prefer to do with the secret you discovered?”
At this, even the Goddess of Bees shut up. All the gods stared at with way too much intensity. Only the Goddess of Bees was really hostile, but it wasn’t helping a lot.
Although none of the gods went as low as sending private telepathic ssages to try and sway them toward their proposition, from the way they looked, I knew imdiately that no matter which option I chose… The gods whose options I didn’t agree with would beco my bitter enemies!
Well. More of enemies than they were already. Not class enemies, but personal enemies, so to speak. At least the Goddess of Bees definitely would hate my guts more than ever; as for others, I still hoped that they had more sympathy for .
As nanoseconds passed, my mind frantically searched for a way out of this trap, only to stumble into pits and roadblocks at every way it tried to take.
‘If I side with the God of Humanity, whether I’m sincere in it or not, neither he nor Dalmanrach will have anything to say against . But the Goddess of Bees won’t let it slide, and she has the right to kill any of my girls! If I side with her, at least she might be pleased, but… Siding with her is NEVER a good long-term option! She will backstab out of sheer spite at the first opportunity!’ I thought.
Next to this dilemma, the Champion Tree’s offer actually sounded desirable. If I assud that the Usnea God wasn’t lying. Because so scheming was definitely going on here, and nobody was polite enough to explain it to .
I was under the impression that the Usnea God and Dalmanrach were allies that shared a common goal of dismantling the Ga of Evolution, but now I had doubts.
Could this have been Usnea God’s trap for ? What would happen if my girls joined a hive mind with the usnea trees (if this was even actually possible)? Would they be alright after this?
‘Uh, my esteed patrons… This is such a monuntal decision, and it would change so many lives, including mine… I can’t really make it on the spot!’ I pleaded.
The pleas fell on deaf ears. Even the least hostile of them didn’t look like they would back off.
“Usually, mortals are swifter to act than gods, with how little ti they have to waste. And I know you aren’t slow, human. Make a choice, damn it,” the Goddess of Bees said.
The God of Humanity nodded in agreent. Dalmanrach just waited silently.
I could almost hear the sand falling in the hourglass of the life I had remaining…
‘Father!’ I suddenly got another telepathic ssage from Precio-Us. ‘We have stabilised ourselves and can expand more. What should we do?’
Inwardly, I let out a long breath… Then perked up as I realised sothing.
‘You are speaking to directly, although you should be out of range! How?… Did you move yourself closer to ?’
‘The Divinity Sound has let us strengthen our telepathic links. Now we don’t need for every bee of the hive mind to be in telepathic range of every other bee. Just one is enough. So we made a telepathic chain with Hardbees that goes all to your current location.’
So Precio-Us were speaking to from sowhere nearby! But this was wild.
Only a few minutes have passed, perhaps, since I gave them the order to get their wits together. The speed with which they have assimilated new minds into the gestalt consciousness was incredible. There was nothing like it before among the hive minds.
Although I didn’t have the precognition gene, I felt that if I gave them the order, Precio-Us could unite all Hardbees of the Bee Empire—except for those on the other continent—within the blink of an eye.
However, their presence didn’t stay unnoticed by the gods near .
“Ah! I sense the sa shard of divine power as earlier, but near here,” the God of Humanity declared, glancing around. “This little insect moved here so quickly? Or… One of her bodies? I can’t tell with these disgusting hive minds… Only an insect god would co up with sothing like this!”
“Oh, so it spreads,” the Goddess of Bees replied. She turned to again. “Mortal, you’ve been thinking for too long. If you don’t make a choice, we might as well go with my original idea.”
Her front legs moved as if she was sharpening her claws. Damn, she was so eager to return to murder!
Why, I would also love to murder her. If only I could—but this would’ve made my life so much simpler!
With this thought, I’ve decided which of the four gods that claid to be my allies with various degrees of sincerity deserved my trust more.
Perhaps the option I picked was as terrible as the others, perhaps my trust would end up misplaced, but I felt that it was the only choice possible.
‘Alright. Esteed gods, I’ve made my choice about what to do with this secret. And before I announce it, I just pray that those of you who disagree with my decision won’t pursue for it…’
