Chapter 603: Are you blackmaling US?
This pitch, this slight buzzing… The Goddess of Bees herself appeared out of thin air and was hovering near and Precio-Us. She still used the appearance of an oversized Earth bee scaled up to the size of a human.
All around , the Precio-Us bees stood up at once. At the sa ti, the air around us rippled from the energy they were concentrating on. All these bees turned their eyes to the Goddess of Bees, but their state of deep focus didn’t even let them scowl at her.
Which I knew Precio-Us really wanted to do. I felt their sharp alarm, which they had to suppress because they couldn’t afford to be distracted.
‘What are you doing here?!’ I asked, moving my projection between the Goddess of Bees and the Precio-Us bee nearest to her.
It was a silly attempt to protect them, but I just wanted to stall for ti with anything I could, starting with stupid questions. I had no idea what I could do in this situation, but at least while there was just a mont of extra ti, I wasn’t dead yet.
“Are YOU asking , mortal?” the Goddess of Bee sneered. “It’s too late for you to try and protect your precious little girls. I could allow you a lot of things, but not to continue with whatever you are doing.”
She raised a front leg, and I knew that my attempt to stall had failed. The Bitch Goddess wasn’t in the talkative mood.
My will flickered for a mont, and I had a cowardly and pointless urge to teleport away, return to my body. Where the Goddess of Bees would find and kill anyway.
Before I could either run away or try to take the last stand without a body, she paused.
Two more familiar figures appeared next to the Goddess of Bees: the God of Humanity and Dalmanrach.
The God of Humanity was red-faced with anger, all of which was pointed at . Dalmanrach was harder to read because of his bird head, and I just hoped it ant that he was on my side still.
And could pull out of this sohow.
“Wait! Don’t be so rash,” Dalmanrach told the Goddess of Bees.
The music to my ears!
“What?” she hissed. “These mortals have tried to tap into divine powers, and you want to let them get away with it?”
“Indeed!” the God of Humanity shouted. “This is an affront to the world order. Richard, I didn’t expect such a betrayal from you!”
There was so anxious movent among Precio-Us bees, and the power of the Divinity Sound rippled again, making my bones itch and so dust fall from the ceiling.
The gods looked slightly uneasy about it, too. At least as far as I could tell—their thoughts and emotions were hidden from my telepathic abilities.
I suddenly had an idea how to get out of this (if I was very lucky), or at least stall for more ti.
‘My esteed patrons! Please, yes, don’t be rash. Look, this is a very delicate situation. I kept it secret until now, from you and from other gods… But if you keep distracting Precio-Us, surely soone else besides you will notice these disturbances. Do you really want to deal with another court case about cheating?’
The Goddess of Bee gasped.
“You!.. Are you blackmailing US? We will kill you, and this will clear our trails!”
“If you do, I will make a court case against you,” Dalmanrach said imdiately. “Nectus is the shared champion for all three of us, and none of us has the right to end his life without agreent from all other sides.”
“That’s right,” God of Humanity agreed. “And I don’t think that I agree with this. So punishnt is certainly necessary, but I suppose we can decide on it elsewhere. Since bringing Richard with us to another dinsion would be too noticeable and against the rules, let’s simply move to another location.”
This got nods from two other gods. Then, before I could add sothing to the conversation, the God of Humanity snapped his fingers and we all teleported away.
The “away” was simply the guest bedroom in which my body was sleeping. It was originally a dormitory, so after bees removed the extra beds, it beca very spacious and appropriately luxurious for their Father.
I thought it was a bit of an overkill, but now this ant that the room didn’t feel crowded with three gods inside of it.
I reflexively tried to return to my body, but found my astral projection unable to move. Nothing was visibly holding , but when I lifted my gaze, I saw the way the Goddess of Bees was staring at and knew that it was her doing.
‘Father? Father?!’ I heard a distant ntal call. I didn’t belong to Precio-Us… She must’ve roped in so signaller to act on her behalf.
‘I’m fine,’ I lied, eyeing the gods in front of .
Since I had no mouth (it, and the rest of my body, were lying just a few ters away, but out of reach), my words, like all before, were transmitted telepathically. But those direct ssages weren’t like the ordinary thoughts running in my head.
If the gods worked together, they could probably read all my thoughts, even with whatever defences other gods might’ve placed on them. But would they?
“Now we aren’t creating any more disruptions. And neither do you, mortal,” the Goddess of Bees said with satisfaction. “Well, my allies, what do you think we have here? I see another ambitious human who tries to use divine powers. Except, unlike all others, he got dangerously close.”
The God of Humanity scowled at her for this mockery.
“Humans know innately that I have created them in the perfect visage—mine! Even their religions always reflect that in the end. Of course, they would try to beco more like —they love with all their being and want to be close!”
