Chapter 600: The echo before the sound

Although it didn’t sound much like a call.

More like an echo of one. An echo of a sound that could only be heard with your mind…

This ti, it was quiet enough not to stun , although it was still impossible to ignore. I knew that Ramwill heard it too—he was staring into space with wide eyes.

My bodyguards were shocked as well, but still able to bring out their rifles; I hoped that this ant that other bees wouldn’t be hard as much as they were the last ti Precio-Us lost control of the Divinity Sound. If this was what was happening right now, because Precio-Us were too far from right now to reach this place with their telepathy

But what else could this be?

The sound didn’t disappear imdiately from my head. But after the first shocking mont, I noticed another thing going on.

Mine and my bodyguards’ hair, tiny threads on Ramwill’s clothing and various other small objects rose in the air unbound by gravity, as if we were swimming underwater.

Then, before I could think twice about this phenonon, it and the sound in my head ended as abruptly as they began.

‘What… what evil sorcery was that?!’ Ramwill thought as soon as he snapped back to himself. He was patting his head and shoulders, as if checking if they were still there. ‘Did the Bee Emperor do it?’

‘I didn’t. Now wait a bit,’ I told him imdiately.

The man was so spooked that he jolted just from this brief ssage. Sadly for him, he just stopped being my first imdiate priority.

Instead of explanations, I focused on contacting my girls outside this room and finding out the scale and the consequences of this event.

The scale reached the entire city we were in, and so areas around it, but nothing else as far as my worried wife could tell. It was like the centre of the affected area was inside or near the city, which was extrely strange by itself.

The effect was also weaker, but the sa thing happened everywhere where the Divinity Sound was heard this ti—small objects acted as if the gravity didn’t apply to them.

To my relief, nobody died this ti as a result of this effect.

The sound was too weak to override the basic instincts of bees, which included the instincts to beat their wings and slow down their fall. There were so collisions, but nobody got more than a few bruises.

The entire process of getting answers took a few minutes—telepathy worked quickly, and several hive minds that were in the city right now were able to organise the information extrely quickly.

All this ti, I watched from a corner of my mind how Ramwill paced around the hall, shaking the table under with vibrations of his footsteps.

When I finished gathering reports, I also found that he was loudly thinking about questions all this ti. The main ones seed to be ‘What had just happened?!’ and ‘Who did this?!’

I eyed Ramwill and read his deeper thoughts and emotions.

There was a deep fear inside him right now, and its reason was obvious. He was afraid that this event was a sign of another “Age of Plagues” coming to this world.

But, digging deeper, I found that he was also thinking about plans in case it was.

How to prepare, where to place people he cared the most about, how to ensure there was less panic among ordinary people and that more of them survived…

When there was a threat in front of him, Ramwill suddenly grew a lot of spine and motivation! It made smile.

‘Ramwill, I will tell you honestly—I’m unsure what this event was, either. But there are many god who want us both dead, and I doubt they will fully abandon their ploys even after being defeated a few tis. There are always more enemies behind the corner,’ I told him telepathically. ‘Will you help fight them? For both bees and humans. And yourself.’

‘Yes,’ this ti, Ramwill didn’t hesitate a bit. ‘These “gods”—are they the sa evil gods locals curse all the ti? The pagan stuff?’

‘Sort of,’ I lied because it was easier than explaining the difference between the local pantheon of gods and the real asshole gods from real life. ‘They send disasters our way, and we fight them the best we can. But sothing like what we felt is a new one… and isn’t much of a disaster.’

Ramwill shuddered.

‘It felt like soone tried to make my brain into a ball of yarn. Did many people feel it? I should calm down my servants…’

Yeah, he definitely lacked ntal fortitude. But at least now he was focused and locked in. He even forgot his fear of and bees in general for a mont! At least partially—he was still throwing clearly uncomfortable glances at my bodyguards.

‘Just hope that this doesn’t repeat. And, yes. Go out, help other humans.’ I told him. ‘I will also ask Explanatory not to hover near you as much as she does, but you will need her to translate for you when you speak with Naregan people, anyway.’

Ramwill clicked sothing that felt like an agreent. His thoughts were elsewhere already.

So were mine, so I let him leave to his people and did the sa to mine. I had to check on Ambrosia personally!

And I was halfway there when a ssage from a distant telepathic signaller reached .

‘Father, this is a ssage marked as “ergency”. Hive mind Precio-Us says, ‘We have achieved a breakthrough. Accidents are possible, but were minimised and localised. We suspect one at your location because we were thinking about you. Please, speak with us—the truth is incredible and you must know it. We will wait until you have ti and focus on control in the anti.’ End of ssage.’

I paused mid-flight while humans and bees moved past the street below .

Now I wasn’t sure where to go first…
