Chapter 596: The Sound Web
The way this ability worked had similarities with the Divinity Sound. I couldn’t comprehend the Divinity Sound on my own, but this mind control ability had a small shard of the sa mystic power.
I felt that if I had never heard the Divinity Sound before, I’d be unable to use the mind control ability at all; at the sa ti, I knew that Precio-Us would be ecstatic to learn all they could about it and add it to their research.
This was incredible. The re fact that Dalmanrach gave this ability ant that he and the Usnea God really spoke to each other.
This was good, I supposed. At least it ant that they really were allies against the God of Humanity and the Goddess of Bees. However, I wasn’t sure they would be my allies forever.
I trusted Dalmanrach earlier, but this was more out of desperation than out of genuine belief that he had my interests in mind. By now, I was thoroughly convinced that gods were self-serving to the extre by their nature. How could they not be?
The only people I could truly rely on were my girls.
‘Father, are you alright? I see that the god-creature is gone,’ Whisper asked. ‘I know that we can’t attack him, but the Council and your Attendants are ready to… do sothing.’
I smiled.
Yeah. I could depend on them, even when they couldn’t REALLY do anything.
“Thanks. I’m fine—but I won’t mind a cup of tea. And so ti to think, alone. We can talk about Ramwill later.”
‘Alright, Father. The Attendants will be here in a minute. Just call for , and I will return.’
I heard the echo of her passing thought—she was wondering about the mind control ability just as I was, although more in the vein of whether it did sothing to my head. However, she didn’t direct these thoughts at and instead waited patiently for to speak with her again.

An hour and an entire teapot later, I felt calr and also understood the new ability better.
I decided to call it Sound Web, since the way it worked was similar to a web made out of the tiniest strands of Divine Sound (none of which were actually sounds you could hear with your ears). This web tied up so parts of the person’s mind, while also pulling forward others.
If there was the smallest urge for sothing within a person, the Sound Web could amplify it and turn it into an unshakable desire. And since it was incredibly easy to find or awaken these tiny urges, this ability allowed almost perfect control over another person.
All you had to do was give soone an order. If they had the slightest urge to follow it—even if they would refuse in the end—you could amplify this urge and force them to obey. And these urges were essentially a reflex, impossible to escape.
However, many creatures had minds too simple for these fine manipulations. Their brains were so small-capacity that the Sound Web would just overwhelm them instead of controlling them. This was useful on its own, but wouldn’t allow us to control anything less intelligent than a dog or a crow-dragon.
It was also possible to make the Sound Web subtle enough that the target won’t realise that its desires were affected. All I had to do was make the effects gradual and make them appear more “natural”. After all, people change their beliefs every day.
The main downside of using the Sound Web—besides its morals—was the effort it would take. Using the Sound Web would take most of a bee’s concentration, and it required continuous channeling.
Only a hive mind could do sothing like this, since they didn’t even need to sleep all the sa ti. The Sound Web could also be set aside while the target was asleep.
Despite all these downsides, yes. I could easily control Ramwill into doing my bidding—I just had to give so hive mind a new long-term job as an Agent.
While this was an incredible solution to all Ramwill-related problems (and most of human-related problems in general), just thinking about it left a sour taste in my mouth.
I was hoping to give humans a little more freedom and power, even if they were going to be mostly fictional—not less of it… But I knew that my girls wouldn’t understand my doubts.
So instead of calling Whisper back to my office, I reached out with my telepathy as far as only bees with limit broken telepathy could and contacted hive mind Precio-Us.
‘Hi, my Precio-Us. I have incredible news for you…’ I told them all about the Sound Web and added, ‘Can you analyse if this ability is really as usable as it seems, and are there no more downsides?’
‘We need to understand it better first, Father, ‘ the reply was sent to through a signaller bee on the way. Precio-Us were too far to reply to directly. ‘Co to us, we must speak closer. You will share your mind with us, and we will listen to yours. Perhaps we will even find ways to improve this ability. We doubt that a god-creature would give it to us without a trick behind it. You might be in danger yourself, so we need to listen for divine interventions around you. In person, to be sure.’
This was a great idea. I could easily imagine Dalmanrach putting not only the knowledge of this ability in my head, but also so mind worm.
So I put everything else I had in today’s schedule away until tomorrow, cald down my worried wife and flew toward Precio-Us’ laboratory on our fastest dragon.
Even so, the journey took several hours. Precio-Us’ laboratory was put at a safe distance, away in the mountains. I landed near it and flew inside past so Beemarine guards.
There were no people in this research camp besides these Beemarines that weren’t a part of Precio-Us.
What would Precio-Us hear in ?
