In the end, after I maxed out the shootable stinger gene, I had so points left to buy ’Heat Vision’, ’Attribute Inheritance’ (of course!) and even the ’Reduced Sleep V’ genes.
As much as I liked to sleep a lot and relax properly, with how large the Bee Empire beca, my attention was needed sowhere all the ti! Although I could delegate things to my subordinates, being present would make the Empire run smoother.
And I still had a single point left. I could put into several things... But I felt like it’d be better to save it for the future, when I will get so gene that I would *really* want to max out as soon as possible.
I confird the changes and felt tingles wash all over my body as its genetic composition was rearranged by the system. My vision got blurry for a mont and blinked furiously.
When I opened my eyes again, the world shone with new colors! It was like soone put a filter over my vision, covering it in faint warm hues.
The heat vision looked similar to the photos from heat caras I’ve seen before, except the reds and blues were much paler and overlapped with the regular colors. It was easy to dismiss if one wanted to, but looked brighter when I looked at less bright areas of the room.
The new genes sat nicely in my status, too. And the new "Hardbee" morphotype.

"So you bought the heat vision gene, right, Father?" Tabletina asked, watching with hungry interest. "How does it feel? How does it *work*?"
I grinned.
"Tina-Tabletina, are you afraid that I won’t give you so of my blood so you’d inherit the new genes? You shouldn’t. Of course I would!"
"I’m not afraid of this, but the next scheduled Blood Communion will only happen in the next week. You still haven’t fully recovered from the last one. And moving the date will be a cri against you and your help, which I refuse to do," Tabletina said seriously. "So until the next generation of my sisters becos adults, I have nobody else to ask."
I couldn’t even argue with that. Just as I knew that when so of the new generation dies and Tabletina gets their bodies for autopsy, eyes will be one of the first things she will go for.
She still was curious about the secret of the "system sight" I had...
"Be patient, sister," Researchina said. "We have other things to work on—things that are much more important for the Empire than this."
Tabletina pressed her lips together unhappily.
"Oh, Tabletina, I will answer all your questions—but later. We are on the Council, after all." I clicked my tongue.
"Which can be ended for now," Ambrosia said. "The new genes must be used as soon as possible."
"No, wait-wait! While we are all here, we must talk about the division of the future Hardbees to their jobs!" Things-Things spoke up, almost jumping out of her seat in panic. "Before Workharder takes them all, yes-yes!"
"Why shouldn’t I? They were made for !"
"But Craftsn work for **, and they are the key people in every forge and manufactory, sister!"
Ambrosia scowled at them both, releasing a small cloud of pheromones a single whiff of which made the hairs on my neck stand up. Workharder and Things-Things went silent imdiately, but kept staring at each other and exchanging intense thoughts.
I let out a long breath.
"Both of you, and many other people, will get Hardbees. Even Bloodhero will benefit from soone who can step into fires her soldiers created. And just so you won’t fight for them behind my back, let’s decide where the Hardbees will go."
