'And did Farini agree?'
It only took a few minutes for to get an answer—a direct, high-priority communication line was currently open between and Whisper, and the ssages were short.
'Yes, Father. Gladly! Please, wait for the rest of the report on the state of the capital city.'
I relaxed in my chair, sipped on my tea, and did just that. I had dozens of other reports to read, so there was plenty to do.
The reports were mostly compiled from ssages of Agents located closer to Hive Supremo—in the human province originally belonging to Farini, and the one with the highest population of bees.
The integration process was doing well there.
The preachers appointed by Farini were spreading the new myths about bees and "divine guardians" for a while now, and people were eager to believe whatever gave them hope for a better future.
First, this hope ca in the form of food Farini conquered from neighboring lords. Then in the form of new healers he invited and the impromptu hospitals he organized in many of the existing temples.
People were especially careful to not crush any bees out there, and to not attack dragons wearing harnesses.
Our borders were expanding rapidly toward this area, and construction of railroads toward them was under progress, made much faster because humans were helping us!
Not everybody, but so worshipers were doing it… for nothing. They didn't even need paynt, just to know that they were doing a "holy work".
Even my own girls found this eagerness distrustful, but Tamsha proved helpful—he organized the volunteers and gave architecture hints, although at first he complained I was sending him away from the heart of the Empire for this task.
Humans and bees already started to live alongside each other in several other areas, where the first hives were already built, too—near the temples. In ti, the bees will be able to take over the administrative tasks and such, while the humans will be our labor force.
At least, this was my vision. My plan!
The more reliant on our wisdom the humans beca, the better.
Researchina was already practicing the ways of mass-producing black gunpowder, while Explanatory sent her the data gathered from examining the muskets picked from the bodies of the High King's soldiers.
Ballistas were going to be old news in no ti.
"A year, perhaps, to integrate the Naregan Kingdom. On the surface level, at least," I muttered to myself, smiling. "And it's already fairly large compared to its neighbors. If I keep at this pace, how long will the world dominion take?"
"Ah, I wouldn't be so overconfident in your place, Nectus."
I gasped and almost dropped my tea. Instead of my own reflection in the liquid, I saw Dalmanrach's face again!
"D-dammit, Mr. Dalmanrach, what if I spilled this? How would we talk then? You could've at least waited until I put it down," I grumbled, carefully putting the cup on the table. "But I'm glad to see that you are doing well. I assu you wouldn't be here if you weren't."
Dalmanrach opened his beak and laughed—a very human sound.
"The tea is just there for so simplicity. I could project my image anywhere. It doesn't matter. What matters is that there are more dangers ahead of you. World conquest is a long and hard road. It might take decades."
I frowned.
"I've only lived in this world for two years now, and achieved a lot of progress already. Although I realize these things get only harder as the ti goes… Is this really what you appeared here for, Mr. Dalmanrach? This piece of advice?"
"Of course not," Dalmanrach said. "The God of Humanity and the Goddess of Bees have officially made a part of their alliance; they both think that I'm on their side, and use both as a semi-neutral party and to pull the blanket of their alliance toward themselves. They also use as their errand body, which ans I'm now carrying their ssengers to you."
I raised my eyebrows.
"Really? Usually the system did this. Although it was quiet as of late…"
Even the achievents I got were all minor stuff that awarded developnt points at most.
"The current rules forbid them from changing the system on the fly, even to put new ssages into it," Dalmanrach explained. "It's easier to send . Not that the ssages are very important—both gods want to be worshiped alongside . being worshiped when they aren't hurts their social standing a little… Yes, it's as stupid as it sounds."
I nodded.
"It will be easy to arrange. They aren't going to reward for this, by any chance? I bet no…"
"No, I'm afraid. They only demand, as they usually do. Good news, though—since you saved the dodo chicks, I could use the rest of my evolution points and give them a trait that makes them grow into adults faster."
I grinned and almost clapped my hands with joy.
"So you gave them the 'Faster youth developnt' gene?"
"Yes. The fourth tier, so they will grow five tis faster, so they will reach full maturity within a year."
This was amazing and disheartening at once. So it will take a year until these dodos will reproduce…
"On this, I will leave you, Nectus. Keep moving forward—step by step. Keep breeding dodos—the more the better. And now, I must leave you... Goodbye."
And he disappeared before I could ask him more about the genes the dodos had, or how to better take care of them, or how to contact him.
I sighed. Now I had to arrange more temples and more new legends amount made-up gods. I was sure that if I didn't appease them, they would co up with so way to punish out of pure spite.
Before I could start drafting plans, I was interrupted again—much more pleasantly this ti!
