I didn't have my armor, either, or my conducting spear—I reappeared the sa way I disappeared, in my casual clothing and weaponless. But at least my stinger was with .
I flew toward the man's neck through the swarm of soldiers trying to get to him. From a corner of my eye, I saw my girls gasping in shock and freezing in place when they realized who flew past them.
"Father?!"
"Is that…?"
"F-Father!"
"Let pass! LET PASS!" I shouted, making more bees dash out of my way.
The path was clear now, and I could see what gave my girls so much trouble.
The attacker ca prepared to be stung—his neck was covered by a scarf of so sort, and his head by a leather cap. Both were covered in nurous tears and scratches left by knives of attacking bees. Stench of sweat ca from underneath—the weather was too hot for this clothing.
I reached out for the scarf and clung to him—just in ti. The man made another step, and if I wasn't clutching to him, he would've moved a hundred ters away in an instant.
Now he was raising his torch. My ti was limited—but this was alright.
'Thank you, girls—you did a great job here!'
My eyes have already spotted a vulnerable spot nearby—soone has cut a hole in the scarf large enough to sting through, and it was only a few ters away. It was easy to get there.
The man was almost about to hit Hive Supremo with his torch when my stinger pierced his chitin.
〔You deal 87 damage.〕
〔The human dies!〕
He jerked, then froze on the spot, then began falling—already dead, thanks to the several health points of damage he suffered even before my arrival. I dashed away, leaving my stinger behind.
"Get away! Retreat, everybody!" I shouted to the bees still swarming nearby.
To my relief, they didn't hesitate to get out of harm's way.
Like a toppled mountain, the man crumpled to the ground together with his torch, raising clouds of dust.
Now, I could see the entrance to Hive Supremo—only a few dozen ters away. Hundreds of bees were flying there, carrying supplies and wounded, or preparing to join the fight—but I saw only one.
Ambrosia!
She was standing almost at the very entrance, staring at with wide eyes and mouth open in shock.
Then she blinked and pointed sowhere behind . A brilliant smile appeared on her face.
She shouted sothing I was too far to hear, but it must've been good. All the other bees nearby stopped in their movents and erupted with cheers.
Bees around were shouting praises even louder.
Then, I heard voices of humans, who were fewer in number, but always were the loudest thanks to their size. They sounded afraid.
When I turned around, I saw they looked afraid, too! All the previous determination I've seen disappeared in an instant. Those who weren't staring at the dead man on the ground in shock were already making the first steps back.
'I guess this ans we won this battle. Ti to find out what the hell was going on while I was away!'
With this thought, I flew to Hive Supremo.
If Ambrosia wasn't here, I swear—I'd be turned into a bee-ball in an instant. The bees smiled at my appearance like God himself ca to them; so began crying, and a few fell on their knees (although, perhaps that was their exhaustion speaking).
But Amby was the first who reached and imdiately pulled into a hug.
I returned it just as quickly. For , this separation wasn't as long as for her, but I could feel how much she worried for , and my heart bled for her.
'Fucking Goddess of Bees! And God of Humanity, too—and every other god there is! Except Dalmanrach, and even here I'm not entirely sure. How dare they?! No, that's a stupid question. But I hope they burn in hell!'
"Nectus! Necty," Ambrosia said, moving away from a little. She still looked at like she was unsure that I wasn't a dream or a ghost, but she was rapidly restoring her composure. "I wish we could stay alone in peace, but this mont is too important. You saved us and won this battle—but we must make sure as few humans as possible leave this place alive."
I choked on air.
"What are you talking about? What—what have you done while I was gone?! *How* long I as done?"
She closed her eyes for a mont.
"23 days."
"T-Twenty-three days?! That's it, I'm becoming a radical atheist!" I shook my fist in the air. "Anyway, weren't humans cowed into submission? We were supposed to keep humans alive and conquer them!"
Ambrosia's face darkened.
"It was not an option. I will explain later."
I nodded, groaning inwardly.
Sothing told I won't like her explanation. But then again, what did I like about this situation?
"Fine, fine. We can talk after this battle ends. Although…"
By now, humans were rapidly walking away, and the sa protection that saved their chitin before was helping them now.
A couple fell under the attacks of our soldiers (I fervently, fervently hoped that they cut out their stingers with knives and got away in ti), but most would definitely escape.
They moved several hundred ters away from Hive Supremo already.
"I see nothing we can do from here. They are too far away," I finished my thought.
Ambrosia smiled predatorily.
"That's alright. The humans like to run away—we were ready for this. Watch—Rulia should lead her force already."
I squinted and saw it—a distant, but large, swarm of bees moving to intercept the escaping humans.
"Wait, Rulia? Little princess Rulia? What is she doing there?"
"Getting revenge for her hive."
Before I could answer, Rulia's swarm reached the already battered and vulnerable humans.
Anguished screams filled the air.
Yes, that was a big revenge!
