She pointed her sword toward the horizon. "Out there, beyond the veil between worlds, the Veilwalker awaits rescue. Warrior Viva awaits rescue. And the future of our elents hangs in the balance."

Her voice dropped, forcing the warriors to lean forward to catch her next words. "When your grandchildren ask where you were when the elents themselves were threatened, what will you tell them? That you stood aside? That you refused to fight alongside forr enemies?"

Maria sheathed her sword with a decisive motion. "Or that you stood with us—ALL of us—and saved the world they would inherit?"

The silence that followed was deafening. Then, near the back of the crowd, a Thornvale warrior slamd the butt of her spear against the ground. The sound—a sharp, hollow *thunk* that echoed across the clearing—was joined by another, then another, until the rhythmic pounding created a heartbeat that pulsed through the gathered army. *Thunk. Thunk. Thunk.* The steady cadence grew louder as more warriors joined, transforming individual acts into a single voice of solidarity.

Maria stepped back, nodding to Lyra who moved forward to take her place at the platform’s edge. The pounding ceased as she raised her hand, the assembled warriors waiting expectantly for the princess’s words.

"Moonlight and Thornvale have gone to war before," Lyra began, her voice clear and strong despite her youth. "Our blades have crossed, our elents clashed, our blood stained the sa earth. I will not pretend those conflicts never happened."

She paused, her gaze sweeping across the silent warriors. "But I will tell you sothing many of you don’t know—sothing kept from the histories, sothing your commanders and queens never shared."

Lyra’s expression hardened, her silver eyes flashing with intensity. "Those wars were never our choice. They were orchestrated, manipulated from the shadows by the one called Kaida—the First Eternal—the sa being who now holds our Veilwalker captive."

Shocked murmurs spread through the crowd as warriors turned to one another in disbelief.

"For centuries, she has worked to divide us, to weaken us through conflict," Lyra continued, her voice rising with passionate fury. "While we battled each other, she plotted to steal what makes us who we are—our connection to the elents themselves."

She drew one of her water blades, the liquid tal flowing and reshaping in her hand. "This is no longer about kingdom against kingdom. This is about preserving the very essence of who we are."

Lyra raised the blade high, water droplets catching the light as they fell. "When we enter the Fea realm, we do not enter as Moonlight warriors or Thornvale soldiers. We enter as defenders of the elents—water, air, earth, and illusion united against a common threat."

Her voice rang out across the assembly, fierce with determination. "I say to the one behind the wars, to the one called Kaida, known as the First Eternal, the one who made us turn blade against each other—your ti of manipulation ends today!"

The warriors roared their approval, Thornvale and Moonlight voices blending into a single sound of defiance.

"Tonightwe march!" Lyra declared, her blade tracing an arc through the air. "Tonightwe reclaim our Veilwalker! Tonightwe ensure that our children and their children after them will know the touch of the elents!"

As the assembled forces erupted in cheers, weapons raised in salute, Lyra allowed herself a small, fierce smile.

’This is for you, Lady Aria,’ she thought, rembering the woman who had first taught her to wield water as more than just a weapon. ’Your sacrifice will not be in vain.’

Maria and Lyra exchanged nods of satisfaction as they viewed the transford army before them. Where once two separate forces had stood, now a unified front had ford, Thornvale earth-wielders standing shoulder to shoulder with Moonlight water-benders, illusion-casters and air-shapers mingling freely as they discussed battle tactics.

Deep within the chambers designated for Thornvale’s elite warriors, Naia found Mika ticulously adjusting the straps of her battle armor. The room was sparse, functional, with weapons laid out in precise order on the narrow bed. Mika didn’t look up as Naia entered, her focus entirely on ensuring each buckle and clasp was secure.

"I thought I might find you here," Naia said softly, closing the door behind her.

Mika’s hands stilled montarily before resuming their work. "Co to make sure I don’t run off on my own?" she asked, her voice deliberately light despite the tension evident in her shoulders.

Naia moved deeper into the room, sitting on the edge of the bed beside Mika’s laid-out weapons. "No. I ca because I know what she ans to you."

At the unspoken ntion of Viva, Mika’s composure cracked slightly. She exhaled sharply, her hands falling to her sides. "Three days," she whispered, the words barely audible. "Three days she’s been in that place."

"Viva is strong," Naia reminded her, reaching out to touch Mika’s arm. "Stronger than most give her credit for."

Mika nodded, swallowing hard. "I know. But the things Nari described..." She picked up her favorite blade, testing its edge with practiced precision. "That place—the Fea realm—it’s not like our world. The rules are different there."

"All the more reason she needs you fighting at your best," Naia replied. "Not distracted by fear."

Mika’s eyes flashed with montary anger. "I’m not afraid."

"Aren’t you?" Naia challenged gently. "I would be. To lose soone I—" She hesitated, searching for the right word.

"Love," Mika finished for her, the admission hanging in the air between them. "You can say it. I love her. I have for years." She secured her blade to her hip with sharp, efficient movents. "And I failed to protect her."

"No," Naia countered firmly. "You didn’t fail. None of us could have predicted what happened."

"I should have been with her," Mika insisted, guilt evident in every line of her body as she reached for her chest plate. "Instead, I was halfway across the kingdom when they took her."

Naia stood, moving to help Mika with the complex fastenings of her armor. "And now you’ll help bring her ho," she said, her voice filled with quiet certainty. "We all will."

For a long mont, they worked in silence, the only sound the soft click of tal clasps securing into place. When Mika finally spoke again, her voice had regained its familiar edge of determination.

"When we find Viva," she said, "I’m not leaving her side again. Not for any mission, not for any queen."

Naia smiled faintly. "I believe you. And I believe we’ll find both her and the Veilwalker."

"We have to," Mika replied, her eyes hard with purpose as she reached for her helm. "The alternative is unacceptable."

As she settled the helm over her head, Mika’s expression disappeared behind the featureless front plate, transforming her into what she needed to be—not a woman afraid for the one she loved, but a warrior prepared to tear through anything that stood between her and her goal.

"For Viva," she said, her voice muffled but resolute behind the helm.

"For Viva," Naia echoed. "And for us all."

Outside, the combined forces of two kingdoms continued their preparations, united by speeches that had awakened sothing greater than loyalty to crown or kingdom—the primal desire to protect what made them who they were. Tonight, they would march into the unknown, following their commanders into the heart of the Fea realm itself.

The First Eternal’s plans, centuries in the making, were about to face their greatest challenge.
