Chapter 833: Chapter 833: Is This Still A Liberation?
"Power..." The deep, magnetic, and oppressive voice of the All-King echoed in the occupied void.
"Power is a funny, vague, and spiteful thing to play with, son."
Kael, tall and having a mind absent of hesitation, had his hands held behind his back. His legs were put together and the edges of his black and white robes jacket fluttered due to inertia.
The light of conquest illuminated his chest, shoulders, and back. His forehead, no longer covered by the locks of spicy blonde hair, faintly reflected his surroundings.
Next to him, a tall but much shorter young man struggled to stabilize himself on the invisible ground while keeping his eyes locked on the scenery ahead.
Around them, layers upon layers of beeswax and honeycombs were positioned in excess.
The hive chamber section they were in was so wide and vast that it was baffling.
But what made Silas so focused on his surroundings was not the vast amount of honeycombs or beeswax. It was the ungodly amount of bees surging from these honeycombs as though there was never going to be an end.
The bees ford a river of multicoloured carapaces, shooting toward the All-King and his son with malicious intent.
Despite the swarm of death that was heading his way, Kael was calm.
Very calm.
His golden eyes flashed with curiosity and viciousness. It was almost as if he could switch from his calm state to a ferocious roaring beast at any mont.
The way Kael looked at the countless bees coming at them, it was like he was looking at dust.
In his eyes, they were already dead. He would be rely fulfilling an inevitable prophecy.
"Rarely is power ever given, rarely," Kael said as he slowly raised his hand.
The world lost all its colour.
The golden light of the All-King suddenly overwheld everything.
A massive semi-transparent lion paw appeared behind Kael, as big as a planet, and it surged forth with might and crushing mass.
As big as it was, the semi-transparent colossal paw shot fast toward the swarm of bees.
How could they possibly dodge sothing so big moving so fast?
An unknown number of bees burst into clouds of insect innards and their numbers were drastically reduced.
The semi-transparent paw did not stop moving. It pierced through multiple walls, extending far beyond the vision of Silas before dissolving into nothing.
Kael’s arm was outstretched. He observed what he had just done. It was incredible, but there was no smile on his face.
He knew it wasn’t enough, he knew he could be better.
"And although it is rarely given," He continued, his face still calm, "When it is given, it should be received with the highest level of vigilance.
Others hardly let go of their power unless there is a valid reason.
There are usually two reasons why soone could offer you power, Silas."
Kael’s arms suddenly flashed and blurred. His hand ford claws and he slashed out a thousand tis within an instant.
Invisible arcs of power slashes zood into the walls and the rest of the swarm, cutting all that stood in their way.
Silas was silent, his long silver hair was brushed to his back and hung over his ears with a few strands hanging on the left side of his face.
Just like his father, he was very handso.
"When others give you powers, it can co in the form of an inheritance. In this situation, it is not usually their choice but sothing that is a necessity.
You spent so ti on Planet Kareem, and you saw it more clearly there. The wealthy n and powerful politicians did not give their children their fortune because they loved them, it was because they had no other choice.
Their lives are pitifully limited and filled with uncertainty. The only way they could die in peace was if they gave their fortune to a competent offspring.
It’s quite sad.
Such tales would not be the case if they could live a little longer."
Kael put his arm down and the wind died down. Silas glanced at his father for a second before turning back.
They had started moving again. Kael put his hands behind his back and the invisible ground they were standing on started moving them deeper into the Hive, toward the Central Coverage.
Kael’s words held a subtle ssage that would soon be understood by all his children.
The All-King had no intention of dying, and so he had no intention of transferring any inheritance to anyone.
Why should he?
If he died on his path or was killed by an enemy, that was considered, but even then, Kael had no intention of choosing a successor.
Silas was just the first to hear it. The other children may have to understand this the hard way if they ever get entitled.
After all, not all of Kael’s children were close enough to their father to understand a little bit of what he thought.
And no one may warn them until it’s too late. Burdo never told them...
"I understand, father," Silas said.
But Kael was not done.
"Another reason why soone may give you power is if it allows them to gain more power in the future.
We lions see ourselves as the ultimate rulers of the universe, the cosmic defiers. We define what heresy is, and we give it its right to be a sin.
And yet, our governance is culturally followed by our tradition of vassalage.
We give the head of our vassals power so that we can control the lesser races better, thereby, having more power for ourselves.
Why force all to obey when you can force the strongest and the rest will follow."
A magic barrier appeared around the father and sun duo as they tore through the walls of beeswax.
"However, just because we see ourselves as the rightful rulers of all that exists, doesn’t an everyone agrees with us on that logic.
And, they will try to use our own thod against us.
They will try to offer us the power we already have.
They will try to make us vassals so that they can manifest their control within our society.
They will try to corrupt us one at a ti simply because one of us did not know any better.
All they need is a pillar, just one Powerful lion, that’s all.
Betrayal is not always intentional, I have co to realise. But its consequences are impartial.
Silas, do you see yourself as a powerful lion?"
Silas, at this mont, noticed Kael seed to be way closer to him than normal.
Was this his judgnt? Silas knew he had not done anything wrong.
He wished Ozia were here, they had planned to talk to Kael together when the topic ca up.
They had known that there was no way a foreign power would co to Silas that the Lion System would not detect it.
That the All-King had been silent until this very mont was him just exercising patience with little consideration for Priya.
Just as Silas wanted to open his mouth to offer an explanation, they both stopped flying.
Kael, who had been controlling both of them using the Law of Speed, suddenly had to stop.
He definitely had to, with what lay ahead.
Silas shivered as he heard heart-wrenching screams of multiple females echoing in the vast distance.
The red flashes that he saw occasionally reminded him of the new lion that he had seen earlier.
The one they called Jordan in the chats. He and his crazy demonic friends were the ones who started all this.
They had charged into Hive Heaven with just one heavenly gate and Jordan leading from the front.
Silas did not know how powerful Jordan was but from what he heard, Jordan was very powerful.
Was this where he had reached? Silas asked himself as he looked around.
This place was in complete ruins. The bodies of close to a billion large bees floated silently in the low-gravity void of the hive.
All this ss, and only a hundred or so bodies of lions could be seen.
"Your Majesty, All-King!" A shout ca from the distance, drawing both Kael and Sila’s attention.
It was King Quin, one of the first immortals, who had been born after the last incident with Ibadon. He was a product of Kael’s luck.
Since he evolved and beca an immortal, this was the first ti he was seeing the All-King face-to-face.
"Quin," Kael nodded at him, the blow in his eyes dimming.
"Welco back, All-King," King Quin said and bowed his head slightly. He was in his lion form and was drenched in bug liquids from head to toe.
One could tell that he had a very fruitful battle alongside the others based on how his eyes shone with satisfaction.
"What’s the status?" Kael asked.
"Well, Jordan says that the blockade of the Central Coverage is too tight, even for him. He would be bombarded with the combined firepower of millions of Queen Bees, the countless other bees, their arkships and shuttles, and the possible support of their Queen Mother Primordial.
He suggests we should hold firm for now and set up an occupancy in Hive Heaven."
Kael nodded, he liked the plan. Hive Heaven did not need to be liberated at once, but it would be done before the end of the week.
After they were done, Quin shifted away, leaving Kael and Silas to bathe in the ever-reducing flashing lights.
Kael turned to Silas, and Silas braced himself for any question he would be asked. He had nothing to hide.
"Do you know why I called our campaign in Hive Heaven a Liberation?"
