Chapter 429: Chapter 429: Kael Watches

Kael’s arkship, inside the Command Chamber.

Kael had just entered the command chamber, teleporting into the space with his arms behind his back.

All the lions and lionesses who noticed him paid their respects and bowed.

With his white suit that was free of any blemish, Kael nodded at them indifferently, watching as they went back to their work which was mostly monitoring the other chamber worlds.

There was a select group of pride leaders who were new frequenters in the command chamber.

These pride leaders were all Lion Lords under Prince Burdo. About twenty of them were stationed here and their job was to monitor Planet Kareem and make reports on what was happening.

With the help of the still-mysterious technology of warp signals, observing the events happening on Planet Kareem from the comfort of the command chamber was very much possible.

For now, these assigned Lion Lords were not allowed to monitor the movents of Kael’s direct family mbers.

But the other creatures like the wolves, foxes, bears, and vultures, were to be constantly monitored.

Dozens of screens popped up in front of the Lion Lords, showing the activities of the different squads searching different cities for the Primordial Wolf.

By now, besides the King’s family, all the other creatures had moved to other cities and began their searches there, hoping to cover more ground.

Two screens had sothing interesting happening on them. On one of the screens, it showed a bear, now in the form of a large man, having an encounter with so n inside a bar.

From the looks of it, things were about to spiral into a fight.

On the other screen, it showed three human figures standing in front of a gate as a human ran towards them from the other side.

The lion who was paying attention to this particular screen frowned. He read the details about the inhabitants of this world and knew that they were all very weak. None of them should technically be able to run that fast.

Although there had been ntions of certain strange people on their internet, no one had paid much attention to it...yet.

And then there was the jump. The running human on the holographic screen jumped high, crossing the five-ter-tall gate in a single leap.

The man landed on the bonnet of that machine which they used to move around. The vehicle shook and the tal surface was severely dented.

The lion’s eyes widened, this was definitely an extraordinary human. And seeing the three figures present, he knew that this was sothing that should be attended to.

He looked around, trying to decide if he should alert anyone about this or just continue watching and keeping a record.

That was when he saw a pair of golden eyes staring straight at him. The lion’s body shook, his mane vibrating like a clown’s toy.

Kael’s vision was like a powerful sensor machine, anything that moved would automatically get his attention. Naturally, this particular lionlord moving his head around caused him to look over.

"Your Majesty," The Lion called. If Kael had rely glanced at him before because of his movents, now he was focused.

"What is it?" Kael asked, his face indifferent.

"It’s one of the wolf squads, your Majesty, they seem to have encountered sothing," The lion lord declared out loud.

The other lion lords nearby, curious, looked over at his screen and they saw it. What looked like a regular human running at unnatural speeds.

The young man shown on the screen was practically going almost ten ters per second.

Ordinary humans shouldn’t be able to run like this.

"Hmm," Kael nodded. He was just about to go over to his pillow throne to continue working on his new feature for the lion system and the matter of those traitors.

Since this has co up, he could spare so ti.

Kael flicked his fingers and a hard light ford around him. The warp signals transferred the images, allowing the hard-light screen to show the king what was happening.

Kael narrowed his eyes, observing what was happening on Planet Kareem with cunning light in his eyes.

"Interesting."

//////

Planet Kareem.

Nightti.

The moon hung high in the sky, casting a silver ominous glow on the city.

This residential district of the city was ho to the above-average rungs of society. Here, they had their houses, away from the average and low-class ’others’ of the city.

It was peaceful here, no one was allowed to make a lot of noise here without permission from the community council.

By now, a lot of families should be preparing to go to bed, resting so that they have energy for their activities the next day, like they always have.

It was mundane.

*SWOOSH!*

A grey-haired young man rushed past the houses, taking less than a single second to cross the front of any house.

He was like a spirit of the wind and night, his glowing eyes leaving yellow after-images for a brief millisecond behind him.

*BA DUM!*

The sound of sothing heavy striking the ground was heard.

Ralph, the man who was running incredibly fast, didn’t look back. He already expected that he would be chased.

What he didn’t expect was for his pursuers to be so...different.

A heavy sound was heard, and the ground trembled. It sounded like sothing heavy was pounding the floor and there was also the sound of tal scraping against concrete.

This loud noise alard the residents of this community, Ralph could see the inner lights of the houses he passed by being turned on.

By the ti the curtains were pushed aside, he was already gone. The hoowners could only see those who were pursuing him.

Ralph’s legs did not stop moving. His body was lowered and his eyes were focused. It wasn’t his first ti being chased before so he knew how to keep his calm.

Just ahead, he would be leaving the confines of this residential district and heading into the busier side of the city.

He wanted to bet that his pursuers would not dare to follow him into a place with so many eyes, lights, and caras.

How wrong he was.

Ralph’s ears twitched and his senses scread at him to look back imdiately.

Suppressing his panic, Ralph gave in and looked back.

Thank goodness he did because a truck was flying through the air and heading right at him.

Ralph’s eyes widened in shock but his legs did not stop moving. That was the sa truck he had landed on.

How was it dragged here so fast?

Thinking fast, Ralph stomped his booted feet and slid to a halt. Almost imdiately, the truck flew over his head and crashed into the ground in front of him.

As the truck rolled away, Ralph’s eyes landed on a palm-shaped dent on top of the car.

Whoever had hurled the truck at him didn’t expect him to suddenly stop.

"Why are you running?!" Ben’s voice ca from far away. Ben was still so distance away, he wasn’t even running, just walking fast. If other sounds did not wake the neighbors up, his voice definitely did.

Ralph’s eyebrows scrunched up due to a mixture of fury and worry.

The glow in Ralph’s eyes grew brighter and brighter. He shivered, his heart beat against his chest.

Strangely he found the chase and the threat these people had on his life very exciting.

The danger was real, he couldn’t deny that. He had to get out of here.

His body was already transforming, he was trying hard to keep it together. Transforming was the last thing he wanted to do right now, he needed his mind sharp.

Bursting to the side with speed, Ralph rushed into small woods on the other side of the road, taking a shortcut to the main part of the city.

"You don’t even want to know why we’re chasing you?" Ben asked, shaking his head with a wry smile.

Right after, a figure bathed in blue electricity flashed past him and dived into the woods also.

"Jocelyn will chase him directly, let’s circle him," Zion said as he walked over.

"There will be casualties," Ben said, noticing that Ralph was running toward the main part of the city that was bustling with humans.

"I doubt any would care about that if we catch him," Zion said then walked away.

/////

Ralph weaved past the trees, the city lights becoming more visible to him as he ran.

The sound of crackling electricity was heard along with the sound of rapid footsteps.

It was getting closer.

The chase was about to end?

End?

Ralph’s pupils shook, shrank, and dilated repeatedly. The closer the danger, the more his body desired to change.

How could he hunt if he couldn’t survive, how would he hunt if he was still being hunted?

The glow in Ralph’s eyes had reached a frightening peak.

The city lights were just a few ters ahead. All he needed to do was jump off the ridge and he would be bathed in the artificial lights.

So he did, he jumped.

But that didn’t change anything.

His pursuer was fast, and she was determined.

Everything seed to move extrely slowly for Ralph. The adrenaline that pumped through his veins mixed with other mind-enhancing substances.

He turned mid-air just as his body began to swell. His clothes tightened around his expanding body and his skin started to get covered in shiny grey fur.

Just as Ralph was in the mid air, in the midst of transformation, Jocelyn’s electricity-coated figure, also in mid air, bashed into him.

*GROWL!*
