Chapter 289: Chapter 289: Killer Instinct

"Diane is getting stronger," Olivia said. Her eyes shone with excitent seeing her pride sister show improvents.

"It seems so," Kael nodded, also pleased with what he was seeing.

Diane wasn’t bothered by the fact that her fist had missed its mark. She turned around imdiately as soon as he got rid of the inertia.

Katari had already teleported to a safe distance, observing Diane for her next move.

"Your power causes you to be dependent on close combat. How do you plan to deal with soone like ?" Katari asked, genuinely curious.

She could end this fight quickly but that wasn’t the purpose of the spar. Kael had specifically pleaded with her to tone down her actions as much as she could.

The whole point was to help the lionesses get stronger, not kill them.

Diane didn’t answer Katari’s question. Her ponytail swerved from the small breeze, giving her a valiant visage.

Her lion ears twitched as she picked up the sound of sothing flying through the air fast.

And if she could hear it, so could Katari.

Katari didn’t show any facial reactions but a spatial barrier had already appeared behind her.

*BAM BAM BAM...*

Multiple small pieces of tal struck the spatial barrier at this ti, causing ripples to spread and disappear almost instantly.

Those pieces of tal had been moving at an incredibly high speed, the damage they could do was no joke.

The scattered pieces of refined tal flew around and gathered around Zabita who was running toward Katari at this mont.

’Reckless,’ Kael thought, ntally facepalming. ’If she’s not taught a lesson, how would she learn? Does she think she’s Diane?’

Olivia frowned at Zabita’s actions. Going close to Katari should be the last thing on her mind, yet she was directly running toward the danger.

This was the sa thing she did with the elephants.

Katari, not caring about whatever was going on in Zabita’s mind, ruthlessly sent out an attack.

She waved her hand, sending out a blunt spatial arc. The ground split in front of her as the spatial arc tore through the void to get to Zabita instantly.

As expected, Zabita was hit point blank and the sound of tal colliding against sothing hard reached everyone’s ears.

Zabita flew back and fell to the floor, digging a shallow ravine as she rolled in the dirt. The tal pieces rushed to her side, orbiting around her fallen body.

anwhile, Katari was ’distracted’ with Zabita. Diane had already activated her War State.

Her humanoid body grew taller, reaching ten feet in height, her muscles bulged, shoulders expanded, thighs beca thicker.

Her ears shot up and her tail grew longer. The claws on her fingers and toes grew curved and longer, taking in a jagged edge.

The hair of her ponytail beca stiffer and spiky, extending down until it reached her lower waist.

The tips of two fangs poked out of her upper lip, giving her a savage appearance.

Thankfully, her clothes were durable and could withstand this transformation without tearing apart.

With pupils that had dilated to black saucers, Diane crouched down slightly before taking a massive leap.

*WHOOM!*

The cracks spread imdiately as soon she shot up into the sky.

Katari sensed the disturbance in her spatial field and looked up just to see a hulking figure descending on her.

This was also sowhat reckless as Katari quickly judged that she could attack Diane while she was in mid-air. Diane would have no way of dodging.

Katari could also just teleport out of the way. But for the sake of keeping things a bit interesting and teaching them how to do combat, Katari refrained from all those fatal options.

She stretched her dainty hand up, condensing a spatial barrier on her palm.

While coming down, Diane put her hands together and positioned them for a terrifying swing downward.

*BAM!*

The arms collided with the spatial barrier on Katari’s palm, and the resulting shockwave was incredible.

Katari’s feet sank two inches deep into the soil and a crater was ford around her. Her following reaction was no different from unnaturally fast.

Her leg, coated in its own layer of spatial distortions, shot up and delivered a kick directly to Diane’s abdon.

However, Katari didn’t allow Diane’s body to get knocked back. Her wrist almost snapped as she took hold of Diane’s elbow, locking her fingers to have a firm hold.

And then, taking advantage of Diane’s lack of a firm footing, she swung Diane around before throwing her toward Zabita who was still making her way over.

Zabita, seeing the hulking figure flying toward her, opened her usually drowsy eyes wide in shock. The refined tal pieces assembled in front of her, forming a rough shield.

The ugly shield had not finished forming before Diane’s body smashed through the structure and his Zabita.

Once again, Zabita was sent flying. She felt all the air in her lungs being forced out against her will.

The two of them rolled on the floor for so ti before stopping. Diane stood up with a red mark on her chiseled abdon. That was where Katari had kicked her.

Zabita got up with a dark expression, this ti, she wasn’t quick to make a move again. Her cloud of tal pieces revolved around both of them as they stared at their opponent.

Katari looked at them from where she stood, waiting for them to make a move.

"Katari really knows how to fight," Olivia said, clearly stunned at how efficient Katari was with dismissing all their attacks.

Kael narrowed his eyes at Olivia’s words. He had better senses and could tell that things weren’t so simple.

Katari had moved so fast just now because all her actions had been instinctive and filled with killing intent.

If she hadn’t held back at the last mont, her kick would have pierced through Diane’s abdon and would have probably killed her.

It may look like Katari knew how to fight but the truth is that she didn’t. Diane knew how to fight, Kael knew how to fight.

Katari did not know how to fight, but she knew how to kill. That is how it has been for her.

Every conflict she got into was usually her trying to kill soone, hence the killing intent that she kept on expressing without knowing.

It was why she was so effective in dealing with enemies and gave the illusion that she knew how to fight.

It was now part of her instincts.

Katari even spent a lot of her ti trying to stop herself from killing soone. She had almost crushed Baba’s neck that ti because that’s what her instincts were telling her.

She had tried to bite Chloe’s head off, not even trying to beat the air lioness down at all.

She always went for the kill, or stopped herself from killing.

This was sothing many did not understand. Diane and Zabita did not know just how dangerous what they were doing was.

Katari had been serious when she implied that she could accidentally kill them. Kael realized that if any accident happened, he might not be fast enough to stop it.

Still, he didn’t call off the fight. He continued observing with his arms behind him. One of the rules of this spar was that no one would use their lioness form, for the sake of safety.

Zabita had a lot to learn and Diane had not yet shown her full might. He would trust Katari, if she could stop herself from killing once, she could do it again.

*WHOOSH! WHOOSH!*

Zabita and Diane finally moved, seemingly having co to an agreent. Zabita sped toward the left while Diane went right.

Diane was faster, she curved over the land as she ran, approaching the waiting Katari.

She threw her massive fist at Katari’s head just as a swarm of tal pieces dived at them from the left side.

Katari raised her left hand, using a spatial barrier to block Diane’s punch. She waved her right hand viciously at the incoming swarm of refined tal pieces.

A blade of transparent void sliced through the swarm of tal pieces, splitting the swarm into two massive portions.

Another fist descended on Katari’s face, this one way closer than the last one. For a second, the look Katari gave Diane was very terrifying. Diane, in her War State, felt, for a fleeting mont, that Katari actually wanted to kill her.

The two portions of tal pieces arrived at this ti, striking Katari’s back but stopping a few inches away, blocked by another thin spatial barrier.

*RATATATATATATA!*

More pieces of tal hit Katari, surrounding her and covering her from Kael and Olivia’s view.

All they could see was a mass of tal pieces that ford a deadly cloud.

*BAM!*

Sothing happened.

Diane’s body suddenly shot into the sky, leaving a string of blood that she spat from her mouth.

So tal pieces were blasted away, allowing Kael and Olivia to see what was inside.

Nothing, Katari was no longer there.

That was when they heard a crashing sound as the land shook slightly.

Zabita, who had been operating the tal pieces from a distance, had not seen it coming. Katari grabbed her hair from behind and smashed her head into the ground.
