"WHAT THE HELL?!"

Kael took a full step back, arms raised, his voice steady despite the storm brewing in his dark eyes. "Hold on—"

Tila wasn’t listening, her black eyes blazing with confusion and rage, her wild, dark hair a tangled halo around her flushed face.

"You pervert! What the hell did you do to us?!" she scread, her voice raw, jagged, as she clutched the silky blanket to her chest, her breasts hidden but her body trembling.

She hurled a pillow at him, the soft thud bouncing off his shoulder.

"I’ll fucking kill you, I swear to God—!"

Kael ducked as a bedside clock flew next, narrowly missing his head, clattering against the wall.

"Tila, calm down!" he barked, his tone sharp but controlled, his hands raised to fend off her fury.

"Don’t tell to calm down!" she shouted, her voice cracking, her fists clenching the blanket, her black eyes wild. "Why are we naked?! What did you—what did you—!"

Her hand shot out, instinctively reaching for her shadows, ready to spear Kael with tendrils of darkness.

Nothing ca.

She froze, her black eyes blinking in shock, her fingers trembling as she tried again, her breath hitching.

"The hell...?" she muttered, her voice faltering, her hand brushing her neck—no collar, no restraint, yet her shadows refused to answer.

Lila sat up fully, hugging the blanket to her chest, her breasts concealed, her curly black hair framing her pale, shaken face.

Her black eyes flicked between Tila and Kael, wide with uncertainty, her fingers hovering over her throat as if searching for a phantom wound.

"What’s going on...?" she whispered, her voice barely audible, her body trembling under the weight of fractured mories.

Kael exhaled, his voice rising, firm and commanding. "Will you shut up and listen?!"

Tila froze, her black eyes narrowing, her harsh breathing the only sound in the dim guest suite of Liss’s villa, perched high on the city’s hills.

The faint hum of power lines outside mingled with the pre-dawn stillness, Liss’s soft breathing echoing faintly from the master suite next door, where she slept after the night’s chaos.

Kael straightened, his torn coat swaying, his dark eyes steady.

"You can’t use your powers because Liss drugged you both. It was the only way to suppress your shadows temporarily—without stopping your healing."

Lila and Tila blinked, their black eyes eting in a shared glance heavy with confusion.

Tila’s fury wavered, her hand still on her neck, her breath slowing.

Lila’s gaze dropped, her curls hiding her face, her fingers tightening on the blanket.

"And the reason you’re naked," Kael continued, his voice steady but strained, "is because when we found you, you were already like that."

"What?" Lila’s voice was a whisper, her black eyes lifting, wide with dread.

"Don’t you rember?" Kael asked, his tone softening, his eyes searching theirs. "The Reaper. The fight."

Tila’s breath hitched, her black eyes flickering as mory surged—the scythe, the flash of steel, Lila’s neck under its edge.

"The scythe..." she whispered, her voice breaking, her gaze snapping to her sister’s throat. No mark, no scar, just smooth, pale skin, perfect and untouched.

Lila trembled, her hands clutching her neck, her black eyes fluttering shut, her voice barely audible.

"She... she was going to kill ..." Her fingers traced her throat, her breath ragged, the mory of oblivion sharp in her mind, her breasts hidden beneath the blanket, her curls bouncing as she shook her head.

Kael watched them closely, his dark eyes tracking their reactions.

They didn’t seem to recall the rge, the transformation into a shadow titan, or Tila’s blood-drenched vengeance against the Reaper.

That was good—it simplified things, kept their trauma contained.

So he lied, his voice calm, practiced, a shield for their fragile minds.

"We tracked the Reaper’s car," he said, his tone even, authoritative.

"Liss saw her leave with you two. We followed, and her S-Class team. They got there just in ti, saved your lives before she could finish you."

Lila’s lips parted, her black eyes wide, shimring with guilt and relief.

"You... saved us?" she whispered, her voice trembling, her blanket slipping slightly, her breasts briefly exposed before she tugged it back, her face flushing.

Kael nodded slowly, his expression softening. "She was strong. Too strong. If we hadn’t arrived when we did..."

He let the words hang, heavy in the air, the silence amplifying their weight. Lila’s gaze dropped, her curls hiding her face, her voice barely audible. "I’m sorry..."

Tila stayed silent, her black eyes fixed on Kael, mistrust flickering in their depths, but she had no counter, no mory to challenge him.

Her fingers tightened on the blanket, her breath steadying, her posture rigid.

Kael stepped closer, cautious, his voice softening, laced with hurt.

"I just want to know why. Why did you leave with her? Why trust her of all people? You knew who she is. You knew what she’s done. So why?"

Lila’s gaze dropped, her fingers twisting the blanket, her voice a whisper. "I’m sorry..."

Tila’s jaw clenched, her black eyes flashing with defiance, her voice low, bitter. "Because she offered us freedom. What else did you expect, Kael?"

His jaw tightened, a spark of anger in his dark eyes.

"So you’d go back to that life?" he asked, his voice low, cutting. "Killing for cash? Hurting people for kicks? That was your plan?"

Tila didn’t answer, her silence a heavy confession, her black eyes burning, her body tense under the blanket.

Lila’s breath hitched, her curls trembling, her hands gripping the silk.

"Then maybe I should’ve left you there," Kael said, his voice rising, anger boiling over, raw with frustration. "If that’s what you want, I’ll turn you both over to the authorities myself. I tried, damn it. I tried to give you a second chance."

He gestured to the room, Liss’s villa a fortress of safety—polished floors, high-tech security, a real haven from the chaos. "A safe place. Food. Shelter. Healing. I didn’t ask for shit in return."

His voice dropped, rough with fatigue, his eyes heavy. "But maybe I was wrong. Maybe so people can’t change."
