In the living room, the surroundings were dim, lit only by flickering candlelight casting orange halos.
Yan Shixiu entered the house from the rainy night, and before even taking off his coat, he saw the candlelit dinner set up in the middle of the living room. Additionally, a brand-new suit was hanging by the stairs.
Yan Shixiu set down his umbrella and walked over. Before he could touch the suit, he saw Shi Lan, dressed in a white cheongsam and wearing a veil, coming down from the second floor. This was a version of Shi Lan he had never seen before—her gaze was tender like water, seemingly coated in a layer of soft, warm sunlight.
Outside, it was distinctly cold, but the sight of her seed to dispel the chill, and even began to feel scorching hot.
"Yan Shixiu, let’s get married. Before the child is born, I want to repay what I owe you."
Yan Shixiu gazed at Shi Lan, motionless for a long ti, and after a while, nearly choked up, he said, "Okay."
The two took the suit back to the bedroom, where Shi Lan personally dressed him, managing with great effort to resist the urge to cling to him. All for another look at the man she married four years ago, and to see what was different about him today.
"What’s wrong?" Yan Shixiu, adjusting his sleeves, asked Shi Lan.
Shi Lan chuckled lightly, shook her head, and said, "Nothing much—just realized that when we got married four years ago, you didn’t seem reluctant. And today is no different. You’re just more mature and even more stunning."
"As long as it’s you, I’ve always been willing. And tonight..." Yan Shixiu leaned closer to Shi Lan and kissed her ear before continuing, "you’re so beautiful, you make spellbound."
"Uncle Yan, could you respect the candlelight dinner downstairs a bit?"
Hand in hand, they returned to the living room, but could hardly focus on eating—Shi Lan wanted to dance.
Thinking of that ball, thinking of their first encounter, Shi Lan only wanted to grasp those hands tightly and hold that lean waist closely.
Now that the Missy was pregnant, Yan Shixiu was especially gentle, as if, in this mont, the whole world was in his embrace.
What an incredible fortune it was, to have her still by his side.
It’s unclear who initiated it, but as they kissed, the mood in the living room slowly changed.
Just as the boss was about to make his next move, Shi Lan tily halted him: "I, Shi Lan, have always been strong-willed, never placing anyone before . Even today, in dealing with others, you know, I am still the sa , lacking passion for life, lacking reverence for existence. But it’s because I t you that I’ve felt the difference in life. Yan Shixiu, living in this world, my only love and commitnt is you. So, no matter how many tis, I am still willing to marry you, to be the one who walks through life hand in hand with you."
"Staying by your side forever is my promise to you, unchanging till death."
When had the Missy ever spoken such heartfelt words?
Yan Shixiu’s heart felt like it lted instantly from her fervor. So he could no longer hold back and hugged her tightly, "If I could, I’d tell the whole world that not even death can split us apart."
"Uncle Yan, happy birthday, I love you so much."

The couple embraced each other for a long ti, kissing intermittently, until the photographer that Shi Lan had arranged arrived at Jinlan No.1 Courtyard, making them compose themselves.
Since it’s a wedding, how could there be no wedding photos?
Shi Lan had requested the best photographer from Mr. Zhong’s team.
The photographer was initially reluctant to co because she usually favored natural landscapes and wildlife over taking wedding photos, especially late at night.
But when the old master spoke, knowing the couple’s exceptional relationship, she agreed, sure there would be sothing to gain.
The photographer thought, all ordinary folks, what could be so exceptional?
But the mont she set up her cara, she realized how shallow it was to try to capture a couple’s overflowing emotions in a re photo.
How deeply must they love each other? Love that filled their eyes, seeing only each other.
Not many photos were taken, just one set, but for the first ti, the photographer felt her appetite for taking human portraits was unsated.
"Sister Lu, I think their souls are stuck together," the photographer’s assistant whispered while looking at the photos in the cara, "turns out rumors can’t be believed."
"What rumor?" the photographer asked.
"Rumors have it they married for various reasons, none of which included love. Many people mock An Lan behind her back, predicting she’ll be exposed sooner or later,"
The photographer chuckled aningfully, finding those gossips utterly ridiculous.
Before leaving, he discussed sothing in private with Yan Shixiu, who agreed to it.
...
On a night filled with exhaustion and happiness, as the couple cleaned up and returned to bed, Yan Shixiu reached out, hooked Miss Shi Lan’s chin, and asked, "Tired?"
How could Shi Lan not know what was on his mind?
So, she tilted her head up and planted a kiss on Yan Shixiu’s Adam’s apple, "I’ve been waiting for now all day."
"Waiting for what?" Yan Shixiu asked, pretending not to know.
"For you."
"Yours," he said, as his kiss fell...
...
anwhile, after the photographer returned ho, he couldn’t contain his excitent and stayed up all night editing photos.
Especially his favorite one, although Shi Lan and Yan Shixiu were facing away, the expressions as they held hands and looked at each other truly embodied the phrase "souls intertwined," deep into their very bones.
By early next morning, he couldn’t help but post on Weibo.
@Yu Lu: "Was invited yesterday to photograph a couple, and was utterly shocked. I’ve always been phobic of marriage, rejecting my partner’s proposals multiple tis, but after last night, I actually feel that marriage is wonderful, having soone by your side is truly great."
The post was accompanied by the photo of the Shuangshi couple.
...
Yu Lu has won nurous national photography awards and has even served as an official royal photographer.
His fans all know that he never photographs people because he deems capturing such worldly subjects beneath him.
So, the fans were deeply shocked when they found out he had photographed the Shuangshi couple, let alone when they saw the content of the photo.
Love, it turns out, isn’t as distant as it appears.
Can love be seen?
Of course, it can.
How much love is needed to instantly cure even a phobia of marriage?
@Can’tBeatThemJoinThem: "Ah, damn! This is... this is Yan Shixiu and An Lan, right?"
@Random1993: "It’s the Shi Lan couple for sure, I’m willing to deem this photo legendary, how can two people love each other so much?"
@IHaveAnAirFryer: "Cried looking at it, really, my goose loves her husband so much."
@Xiaoyukt: "I don’t know why, but this photo gives goosebumps. Just a picture and yet it evokes such strong emotions. Shi Lan and her husband truly, truly love each other."
This sugar, initially not in showbiz, beca wildly popular and spread across the internet in just one morning.
Yan Shixiu also reposted it the first thing after getting up.
@Yan Shixiu: My life. //@Yu Lu: ..."
