Chapter 763: 761 Are you not afraid of death?

In the curtain of night, the sharp smacks of slapping sounded particularly loud and grating. Deng Lishan was after all a girl without much strength, so that her slaps grew weaker and weaker towards the end. However, for the three boys whose faces were already stinging, even a slight graze was painful enough.

After she had finished slapping, Deng Lishan knelt on the ground, gasping for air in great heaves.

Although her hands hurt, her heart’s grudge was released thoroughly. At that mont, she felt so exhilarated that she thought even if she died right then, it would have been worth it.

After a while, she stood up, straightened her hair and left the platform like a weightless ghost, ‘floating’ away.

Seeing this, the three boys covered their faces, wanting to flee, but then Shi Lan suddenly spoke, saying, “You bullied her many tis, she paid you back once, we’re even now. If you trouble her again…”

“We won’t… We won’t anymore,” the three boys waved their hands.

The young lady scoffed coldly, giving an address in the night.

One of the boys turned pale as soon as he heard it, because that was his ho address.

“The show’s over, let’s go,” the young lady led her people away. “Dealing with these little brats is a bit irritating.”

From beginning to end, Shi Lan had done nothing, yet it seed like she had done everything. This final touch was to make sure the three delinquents wouldn’t continue to trouble Deng Lishan at school, to give a little confidence to those willing to fight back. Otherwise, she might shrink back into her shell and never co out again.

When Deng Lishan returned ho, the door to the master bedroom was ajar, and the sounds of mahjong being played drifted out intermittently. Deng Lishan curled the corner of her mouth in a cold smile, turned around, and went back to her room, because she knew that no matter how much pain she was in, there would be no one to care.

Back in her room, she found a towel to clean the gri from her face, revealing an unnaturally pale complexion, then calmly took out her howork from the backpack. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t concentrate as usual because she kept thinking of the woman from the evening.

She too wanted that sort of confidence and dominance that seed to co naturally.

However, she wasn’t left in peace for long. The woman who had been playing cards in the house suddenly entered her room, threw so cash in front of her, and said, “Go buy dinner.”

Deng Lishan didn’t move, replying, “I have howork to do.”

“I’m just asking you to buy a dinner, don’t dawdle,” the woman snatched away her howork book, not intending to negotiate.

Thinking of the slaps she’d dealt earlier, Deng Lishan snatched her howork back, her tone unusually firm: “I said I’m not going, I’m not going. If you’re hungry, buy it yourself.”

“Deng Lishan! Can I not control you anymore?”

“Yes!” Deng Lishan countered, “Have you ever controlled ? Since the day my brother died, have you?”

The response to Deng Lishan was, of course, a slap.

As if she had anticipated this, Deng Lishan quickly stuffed her howork back into her bag and left ho without looking back.

No, that wasn’t a ho. It was just a cold hell.

After leaving, Deng Lishan went to a 24-hour convenience store, bought a cup of noodles, and then took out her howork at the counter.

But she hadn’t expected the woman in the hoodie would find her there.

The woman tapped on the outside glass before pushing the door open and sitting down beside Deng Lishan.

“Got hit?”

Deng Lishan was taken aback and looked at Shi Lan.

“Is that hard to guess? If there was soone who cared about you at ho, you wouldn’t have been bullied at school,” the young lady shrugged. “All those years of enduring, did they yield any result?”

Deng Lishan felt a warmth in her throat, her eyes reddened, but she was very stubborn and did not cry.

“Your mom doesn’t let you find your father, so you just never look for him? Isn’t being with your father better than with your mother?” Shi Lan asked, “Still not smart enough, huh?”

“I have no father!”

Shi Lan chuckled and said, “Fighting with money! Not rebelling in the right way, and in the end, you only hurt yourself and affect others, don’t you? Doesn’t your mother play mahjong three tis a day?”

“What exactly are you trying to say to ?” Deng Lishan didn’t understand Shi Lan’s intention.

Shi Lan took out Deng Cong’s contact information from her bag, placed it in front of Deng Lishan, and said, “Don’t take out the hatred your mother has for you on your father. You haven’t tried, so how do you know he doesn’t want to be a good father?”

“So, you are that person’s go-between,” Deng Lishan didn’t take it, just sneered coldly.

“Do you know? When I was your age, I was already preparing to take over the family business. On the night of my coming-of-age ceremony, soone tried to block on the road with a car, and I just crashed straight into them. Guess what happened?”

This ti, Deng Lishan turned her head and looked seriously at Shi Lan.

“The other side chickened out, made a U-turn, and crashed into a tree.”

“I’m not anyone’s go-between. Your experience is too similar to mine, but you cherish your life too much. If it had been , those three from earlier, today it would have been either dead or them crippled. That’s right, more people might challenge you to a fight, but you’ll also find that your punches beco smoother, and eventually people won’t be talking down to you but will discuss things with you with a smile…”

“Before you have the capability, you have no right to despise any resource at your disposal. Is it shaful to use your father’s money? It’s only natural.”

“You could be living in a princess room, sleeping in a princess bed, but you insist on living each day on edge. Isn’t that self-inflicted? Moreover, let tell you the best way to get back at your mother is to betray her.”

“If you still hope for your mother to change, this is truly the best way to do it.”

“As for how to do it, think about it yourself, and just imagine, what will be waiting for you at school tomorrow.”

Having said that, Shi Lan stood up, ready to leave the convenience store.

But at that mont, Deng Lishan stopped her: “Aren’t you afraid of dying?”

“You know better than I what is truly frightening.”

With those words, Shi Lan left the convenience store.

It really takes too much effort to persuade kids, so after getting in the car, Shi Lan gulped down a large bottle of water.

Deng Lishan watched Shi Lan leave, then looked at the contact information in her hand. Thinking of the gloomy atmosphere at ho, she knew no one would co to find her. Moreover, the mahjong ga would last all night.

Indeed, she was very clear that what was more terrifying than death was having no hope.

With that thought, she finally took out her cracked-screen phone and dialed Deng Cong’s number…

No matter what, Deng Cong never expected to receive a call from his daughter at night. He had been longing for so many years, and never had he felt such excitent.

He was still at a dinner party, where it was quite noisy. After answering the call, he hushed the crowd, signaling them to be quiet, then boasted like showing off a treasure: “My daughter!”

Hearing these three words, Deng Lishan paused for a mont.

Grievances surged like a flood, uncontrollable any longer…
