"I’ve always been like this." Shi Lan raised her eyebrow.
"At least you’re straightforward. I hate those who proclaim themselves as just but are hypocrites at heart, outwardly gold but rotten inside," Deng Cong huffed.
"That’s where you misunderstand , Director Deng. I tailor my words to the audience; however, what you see is genuinely who I am."
This ti, Deng Cong also raised his eyebrow. The girl seed unafraid of his displeasure.
"Since you’ve shown your true colors, I’ll show my cards too. I’m willing to take on your movie, but there’s one condition," Deng Cong shifted to a more comfortable position and ordered so tea for Shi Lan. "Since you’ve already stabbed with my son’s issue, it’s only fair that you solve the lingering problem."
"You an, your wife?" Shi Lan guessed.
"If you can persuade her to forgive , it’s not just one movie, but I can beco an exclusive director for Peak. If you can’t, then I might have to question your ability to ’beguile others’. Since you’ve gone through so much trouble to find , you must believe that only I can direct your movie properly. If you can et my condition, I will definitely deliver a satisfactory result."
The young lady knew dealing with people like Deng Cong was never easy.
Mundane matters could no longer shake this renowned director who commanded the winds and waves of his industry.
Only the lack of emotions could truly bring him to his knees.
However, it’s rare for anyone to openly show their wounds. Deng Cong being so forthcoming probably ant he had no hope left.
"So? Can’t do it?" Deng Cong asked. "If not, just go back. I’m not lacking your movie."
"Fine, but I also have a condition, whatever thod I use, you must cooperate unconditionally."
...
Deng Cong and his wife were in the sa profession, both originally having a son and a daughter. But in order to take care of the children, Deng Cong’s wife had to step back and give up her career, spending her days at ho.
Their son was their pride, not only excelling academically but also being very talented in the arts.
Deng Cong had planned to send his son abroad for college after high school graduation, but an affair with an actress five years ago led to unprecedented school bullying, culminating in the son’s suicide from depression.
After their son’s death, Deng Cong’s family fell apart.
His wife took their daughter and left the ho filled with laughter, refusing to forgive Deng Cong ever since.
He was innocent, but he arrogantly believed that ti would reveal the truth, and there was no need to clarify the sordid ss. His wife had called him multiple tis to sort things out earlier, but he was too caught up in his work to notice anything unusual with his son, leading to the tragic event.
It was from that ti on that Deng Cong’s personality drastically changed.
He had wanted to make ands, but his wife gave him no chance.
So, he didn’t know why he was pinning his hopes on a stranger, knowing it was an irreconcilable issue, perhaps it was just his reluctance. He always felt that An Lan, this extraordinary person, might have so clever tricks.
...
Shi Lan and Deng Cong reached an agreent, and as a ’deposit,’ Deng Cong recomnded two actors to her.
"With these two actors, your script will be unparalleled," he said.
Shi Lan accepted this favor and set a deadline for Deng Cong: "One month, I’ll show you hope."
"You cheeky girl, don’t talk big," he retorted.
"If we don’t make haste, how will we compete with Zhou Yi next year?" Shi Lan raised her eyebrow, the confidence emanating from her pupils spreading to the corners of her eyes, as if there was nothing in the world she couldn’t handle.
Although Deng Cong hated people who boasted, for so reason, the promise Shi Lan made really sparked hope in his heart.
The eting had ended, and it was nearing dusk.
Deng Cong invited Shi Lan to stay for dinner, but she politely declined.
"Did you think I really wanted to keep you for dinner?" Deng Cong laughed heartily as if he had discovered Shi Lan’s naivety. "Isn’t there a rumor that I disdain you from Peak? Inviting you to dinner was just to break that rumor. Since you have other plans, let’s go for a drive then."
Shi Lan was aware of Deng Cong’s intention, but she had already made plans with Uncle Yan to watch the sunset and didn’t want to be late.
The two left the hotel together, and then, Deng Cong took away the assistant Shi Lan had brought.
The kid seed quiet but clever; he indeed liked him.
...
Not far from the hotel, an SUV was parked on the steps.
Mr. Yan, dressed in a brown trench coat and wearing sunglasses, leaned against the car door as if he had been waiting for a long ti.
Shi Lan’s heart skipped a few beats; she hastened her steps but noticed that pedestrians on the street were casting focused glances at them.
"Let’s go." Mr. Yan, ever so generous and straightforward, led Shi Lan into the car.
The young miss proudly observed her exceedingly excellent Uncle Yan, suddenly feeling a strong sense of possessiveness.
Facing the setting sun, they once again parked the car in the desert.
"Last ti was the trial boyfriend; this ti..."
"This ti is kissy husband," Mr. Yan teased, tipping Shi Lan’s chin and kissing her, not stopping there; he even took out his phone to capture the mont of their kiss.
Shi Lan turned her head, frowning at his actions. "Uncle Yan, female celebrities need to consider angles when taking photos."
Yan Shixiu bit her lower lip playfully, murmuring deeply, "Not focusing."
Only the sound of the wind and their passionate kisses resonated in the desert, until the sun set and Yan Shixiu took Shi Lan back to the simple hotel.
Upon entering the room, Shi Lan wanted to continue, but Yan Shixiu stopped her. "Eat first."
"At this point, eating you is more important," the young miss said, devoid of rationality.
Mr. Yan, retaining a sliver of sanity, fastened his clothes to prevent her from stirring further. "Once I start, you won’t get the chance to eat..."
...
That night, social dia went crazy.
Because many had captured photos of Mr. Yan picking up his wife at the hotel entrance.
