Chapter 742: He doesn’t owe anyone.

When Tang Ze was telling his story, Cao Yixuan had already left, missing the chance to understand Tang Ze’s life experiences. Of course, had Cao Yixuan not left, Tang Ze might not have so readily opened up about his wounds—because he cared, he had reservations.

Even though the main subject wasn’t there to hear it, deep down, Tang Ze hoped that Cao Yixuan would know. While he didn’t wish to receive sympathy or pity, deep in his heart, he yearned for Cao Yixuan’s response.

In truth, if you care enough about soone, you naturally beco a collector of information about them.

Even though Cao Yixuan wasn’t present at the ti, soone had already inford her of this “gossip” at the earliest opportunity afterward.

Everyone has their story, as if a life isn’t complete without so incident with one’s family of origin. But Cao Yixuan couldn’t express her concern, just as she didn’t want the person she liked to discover her darkest and most unbearable side. She wanted to leave so dignity for the other party.

Although the big shot had taken the burden of dealing with Yu Wei off of Tang Ze’s shoulders, Tang Ze always felt that it was sothing he should face himself—he couldn’t just run away because he was tired.

Everyone confronts their own life. That’s why the big shot is still standing up to the keyboard warriors. It’s why Sun Ling accepted an interview with the reporters after severing ties with his father. It’s why Cao Yixuan went on a radio show after her suicide attempt. And what had he done?

The events of the past had already occurred, and he didn’t possess the power to change everything, but at least for now, he could try to change his own life.

So, even though Shi Lan had already arranged everything for him, he still declined the big shot’s good intentions.

“I want to try and excise the rotten flesh from my body,” Tang Ze told Shi Lan in his exact words.

Everyone is growing, and he couldn’t remain stagnant like a child.

At dusk, the twilight sky interwove colors like a painter’s palette.

After leaving the engagent party, Tang Ze went straight to Ruilin, planning to pick up Yu Wei and take her to his house.

Yu Wei, of course, was only too happy, but she suddenly beca very surprised at Tang Ze’s transformation; after all, she could feel Tang Ze’s deep-seated aversion to her.

“Brother… you…”

“One can’t live in a hotel forever,” Tang Ze said while packing up Yu Wei’s belongings. “I have an extra room at my place. You can stay there until you find a job.”

After hearing this, Yu Wei couldn’t help but laugh: “You’ve had a change of heart.”

“I haven’t had a change of heart,” Tang Ze responded, his back to Yu Wei. “It baffles why I owe you, what makes in your debt.”

“My dad…”

“My mother is my mother, and I am ,” Tang Ze said, turning around to look Yu Wei in the eyes. “I haven’t forgotten who begged my mother to give up on sending to university, directly causing years of separation between mother and son.”

Upon hearing Tang Ze’s words, Yu Wei’s eyes widened in shock: “How could you…”

“I know about all those shady things you’d rather keep hidden. I know them, and Shi Hongyu knows them too,” Tang Ze said. “So, from today on, I’ll take care of you as my sister in the eyes of the law, but that’s it. If you do anything else to overstep your bounds or hurt , I won’t be so polite. Being dragged down by you is like living in hell anyway. I might as well pull you down with to taste the tornt in the frying pan.”

When her hidden ugliness was exposed this way, Yu Wei, of course, went crazy, lunging forward to bite Tang Ze’s arm: “You just want to live a carefree and happy life without , right? Well, I’m telling you, Tang Ze, that’s impossible. If I beco a ghost, I’ll still haunt you, and we’ll go to hell together.”

Tang Ze pushed Yu Wei away with all his might, then, holding his injured arm, said, “Give it a try.”

Tang Ze dragged her from the hotel to the parking lot and then brought Yu Wei back to his own ho.

After all this turmoil, both were sowhat exhausted.

Once ho, Tang Ze locked Yu Wei in the guest room and then returned to his room. Sotis, he felt aggrieved too. He hadn’t done anything wrong, so why should he be tornted and treated this way?

Was it his fault that his stepfather had died?

Tang Ze sat on the floor of the room, not turning on the light from evening until it was night.

The silence inside was sowhat terrifying, making the entire space feel very oppressive and suffocating.

And just at that mont, Tang Ze’s phone rang. Turning on the screen, he received a WeChat ssage from Cao Yixuan, “Believe , no matter how difficult, it will pass.”

Behind the ssage, was a smiling face.

Tang Ze silently pounded his arm, then, as if mustering up new courage, opened the door of the room and walked out.

Deep into the night, fierce winds caused the lights inside the house to flicker.

At this mont, Shi Lan, with one hand on the Maybach, was looking over psychological materials. But after a short while, she disdainfully put them down, tossing them aside, “They’re all deceitful tricks.”

After taking a shower, Yan Shixiu walked up behind her, leaned over to embrace her, and said, “Encountered any tough problems?”

“I’m trying to figure out the psychology of soone like Yu Wei, and what things would make her feel fearful.” Shi Lan said, “As expected, all good people are the sa—boring and monotonous—whereas evil ones each have their own vile traits. President Yan, do you have any insights?”

“To deal with such a shaless person, of course you expose all her vile deeds publicly and make her recall her dark and dirty history over and over again.”

“She seems like she wouldn’t regret.”

“Of course, she won’t regret, but she will beco infuriated and feel humiliated. People like her don’t have the courage to face themselves. Especially when exposed in public, that sense of sha would drive her spirit toward collapse.”

After listening to Uncle Yan’s words, Shi Lan nodded, turned around, and pulled President Yan’s handso face closer to herself, “President Yan, you’ve changed, tainted by Ms. Shi Lan.”

“I have never claid to be kind-hearted.”

Yan Shixiu never bowed his head and always revenged his enemies.

“I get it, Iron-blooded Uncle Yan can do anything except dare to have children.”

Yan Shixiu: “…”

Late at night, Shi Lan and Tang Ze had a phone call.

Since Tang Ze declined her direct help, so things he still needed to know.

He couldn’t be kind-hearted any longer.

He didn’t owe anybody.

Yu Wei was so arrogant precisely because she knew Tang Ze had boundaries.

If she was that confident, then he must not disappoint her.

With the support and concern of so many good friends, Tang Ze quickly adjusted his mood. Although he was sotis a bit naive, he was by no ans a fool; a hint from a big-shot was all it took for him to get the point.

He felt better just like that.

And also because before going to sleep, he received a WeChat ssage from Cao Yixuan, “I bought you so sweets, to sweeten your mouth when you feel bitterness in your heart.”

This ti, Tang Ze still didn’t reply, because he felt he didn’t have the right to do so just yet.

But the plan was already quietly forming in his mind.
