The police gave serious consideration to Shi Lan’s strategy because in the police station, Ding Hong confessed to many shocking things.

First, she admitted that she had poisoned Shi Mother, explaining all the details very clearly.

Second, she described why she had been persecuted and the process through which it occurred.

Lastly, she revealed that she had overheard that last year’s car accident involving Miss Shi was a plot concocted by the Shi brothers and Si Junlan.

Her own cris were irrefutable, and with Shi Lan keeping Huo Zhao guarding that suspicious "fixer", it was a piece of cake for the police to apprehend them.

However, although there were eyewitnesses and physical evidence confirming that she had been drugged and frad into the ntal institution, there was no direct evidence linking the Shi brothers and Si Junlan to these acts—and the investigation by the police was still necessary, not to ntion the car accident from a year ago.

Therefore, they had to set a trap to draw the snake out of its hole...

Once Doctor Yu and Ding Hong entered the police station, they were, of course, taken into custody imdiately.

When it was ti for them to play their part, the police would make arrangents.

Ding Hong cried bitterly inside the police station and, before Shi Lan left, she requested to see Shi Lan one last ti.

When the police inquired about Shi Lan’s wishes, she nodded her agreent.

The two were arranged to et in the interrogation room, with officers standing guard at the door.

Upon seeing Shi Lan, Ding Hong stared for a long while before finally wiping away her tears and saying, "Although I don’t know why you would help , I still have another impertinent request."

"Speak," Shi Lan replied succinctly.

"Please don’t let any mber of the Shi Family off, especially Shi Hongyu. If, one day, they really get caught, let know—it will make happy," Ding Hong said. "Also, you must know my sister-in-law, right?"

"Otherwise, why do you think I did all this?" Shi Lan retorted.

"Please tell her I’m sorry. I thought I might have a chance to apologize myself, but as you see, I probably won’t be able to leave here..." Ding Hong said with tears welling up in her eyes, "Lastly, I don’t know if you know Shi Lan, but I think you look a lot like her, and I’ve always wanted to tell her that, even though I was always against her and caused her trouble, I never really thought of taking her life. Even if the thought crossed my mind a thousand tis, but... I never actually intended to act on it."

"As a person, you shouldn’t covet what you don’t deserve; the price will tell you how terrifying this foolish fantasy can be," Shi Lan answered her. "As for the rest, on the day Shi Hongyu goes to prison, I’ll be sure to notify you. Prepare to celebrate."

The eting didn’t last long.

After Shi Lan left, Ding Hong cried her heart out in the interrogation room, full of regret.

If she had not married into the Shi Family, if... she had not gotten involved in the struggle for power and profit, she might now have the most ordinary yet happiest family.

Shi Lan heard her crying but did not feel she deserved sympathy.

On the other hand, the Shi family were still unaware that the clear skies above their heads had already undergone a trendous change...

Afterwards, Shi Lan went to the hospital and told Shi Mother about Ding Hong’s situation.

After listening, Shi Mother felt an inexplicable sympathy: "Even though that woman poisoned , she too suffered greatly at the hands of those three scoundrels. Moreover, she has confessed her guilt, so as far as I’m concerned, this matter is now closed. But those other three, they will not die a good death."

"Because, they killed Shi Lan!"
