Chapter 188: 188 is not this face
By the ti Shi Lan returned to the film set, word of Gu Chengyu’s mother’s antics had already spread far and wide, and it was clear to hear that they were no laughing matter.
Just after eight o’clock, Shi Lan stepped out of the dressing room and upon entering the studio, she imdiately saw a middle-aged woman dressed in a black chiffon dress, her hair in flowing waves, radiating with jewelry, laughing it up with Director Tang.
“An Lan,” Sun Ling called out as he approached the mogul, “that’s Gu Chengyu’s…”
“I know,” Shi Lan had already experienced the power of this woman in the dressing room.
“An Lan, co over here and et Gu Chengyu’s mother,” Director Tang, playing the peacemaker this ti, wondered if he could diate, considering Gu Chengyu’s mother was known for being formidable within the circle. An Lan might not co out on top dealing with her.
Shi Lan’s lips curled slightly, with just a glance discerning what sort of person Gu’s mother was, her influence, and how challenging she would be. At that mont, she roughly understood where Gu Chengyu got all his scum from.
Shi Lan walked over to them nonchalantly when she heard Gu’s mother say, “You’re the An Lan who reported my son’s fan club, causing unrest in the entire film crew.”
“Lady, you flatter , I’m far from your son,” Shi Lan replied sharply.
“What a sharp tongue you have, An Lan. When you used to chase after my son, you didn’t look like this.”
“The face is mine to wear as I please. I don’t think I need to ask for a lady’s permission,” Shi Lan retorted unyieldingly. “Also, I must clarify that it wasn’t chasing your son; it was him leading on while pursuing soone else at the sa ti. I’ve always wondered why Gu Chengyu never realized how despicable he is. Today, after seeing you, I get it. Like mother, like son.”
Gu’s mother’s complexion instantly turned the color of liver.
“An Lan.” Director Tang reminded her to keep her comnts in check.
“If this lady wants to co and pull rank on , I think she can save it. If you have the skills, leak my secrets; if you’re even more capable, take my place—I don’t care.” Having said that, Shi Lan returned to her seat.
At that mont, Chen Beini also joined in, “You’re the boss. When I first heard of the existence of such a harpy, I hesitated for quite a while. Luckily, I never t her. Otherwise, I wouldn’t even have half of your ability and would be at a huge disadvantage.”
Shi Lan snorted coldly and did not take Gu’s mother seriously.
“That trash Gu Chengyu can’t beat you, so he ran crying to his mommy. It’s downright childish. Plus, if we have to face off against this harpy for the next two months, it’s going to be too miserable,” Chen Beini said, pouting unhappily.
“Bring it on,”
Having seen her fair share of the Shi Family’s overt and covert attacks, she was curious to see what tactics a low-life could muster.
Gu Chengyu arrived fashionably late just after nine, and his mother imdiately started haranguing him about An Lan, making insidious remarks.
She occasionally cast strange glances, “I told you not to ss with this type of woman. Now you see how formidable she is, right? She doesn’t like you; she’s just trying to ensnare you to pay off her brother’s usurious debts. She’s neck-deep in debt, after all. How else would she get by without tricking so man out of his money?”
“Mom… it’s not like that…”
Gu Chengyu tried to explain but was silenced by a look from his mother.
She wanted to air this dirty laundry, to let everyone know just what kind of a lowly woman An Lan really was.
