Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Are the Fireworks Green?

The mont Holly Winslow heard that, she knew what that rascal Mortir Quincy must have said. He definitely called her "honey."

She giggled mischievously. "Serves you right. Always being so extra. Careful, or Dad will blacklist you."

Mortir, who received no comfort from his girlfriend: "..."

He was about to say sothing when he noticed people on the living room sofa frequently glancing his way. He got up, went out, and leaned against the doorfra, lazily asking, "Who were you hanging out with just now?"

’Was that Lester guy there?’

He swallowed the latter half of his question.

His question was so sudden that Holly answered without thinking, "I was setting off fireworks with Brother Lester and the others."

Hearing the na "Brother Lester," Quincy the Vinegar King ca online. His voice dropped, and he asked ominously, "Were the fireworks green?"

Green fireworks?

’What’s with the green?’

When it dawned on her, Holly was speechless. "..."

She blinked, a grin stretching from ear to ear. "So green. They were gorgeous."

"Honey, you’re testing my limits. Believe it or not..." Before Mortir could finish his nacing threat, the line went dead with a BEEP BEEP BEEP.

’Great. His girl has gotten bold enough to hang up on him now.’

’Brother Lester?’

’Brother my ass!’

’Ever since she ca back, his girl’s admirers have been popping up one after another. He hadn’t even dealt with one before the next one showed up.’

After hanging up, Holly let out a couple of "Ha-ha"s. She didn’t need to guess to know that rascal Mortir was losing his mind.

A mont later, her phone pinged. It was a ssage from "Mr. Losing-His-Mind." She wasn’t foolish enough to read his threats, so she tossed her phone aside, left her bedroom, and went to watch the Spring Festival Gala with Walter Winslow and the others.

At midnight, Joan Sawyer gave Holly two red envelopes, smiling. "One of these is for Moira. It’s not much. When you two get married, Grandma will give you a big one."

Hearing this, Wyatt Winslow frowned in disapproval. "Mom, Holly is still young. Don’t say things like that."

Walter Winslow shot him a look. "Your mother and I were married at eighteen! Besides, your mom isn’t telling Holly to get married right now. She couldn’t even if she wanted to."

"Wyatt, you’re such a fuddy-duddy. I can’t even be bothered to lecture you."

Having been scolded, Wyatt didn’t dare say another word. He just handed Holly a red envelope.

Holly could tell by its thickness that it was a hefty sum. She bead and wished them a happy new year. "Thank you, Dad. Thank you, Grandpa and Grandma. Happy New Year! I wish you all good health and for all your wishes to co true."

"You’re so much more lively than before, dear. It’s good to be lively. Grandma wishes you happiness every day," Joan Sawyer said, patting her head.

Walter Winslow glanced at Wyatt. ’Did you hear that, you old fuddy-duddy?’

Back in her bedroom, Holly picked up her phone and saw over a hundred ssages. The first few were Mortir’s frantic ramblings, followed by a stream of "Happy New Year" texts. She counted ninety-nine of them.

She hugged her blanket and smiled, then sent a reply: Happy New Year, Hubby! Wishing you prosperity! Now, where’s my red envelope?

Mortir replied instantly: Hubby is not happy. Don’t feel like giving a red envelope.

Holly: "..."

She tried to soothe him: I was just kidding. The fireworks were yellow and blue.

Mortir: Mixed together, that’s still green.

Seeing he wouldn’t let it go, Holly huffed: Quincy the Vinegar King, go look at yourself in the bathroom mirror.

Mortir: I did. Still handso.

Holly: "..."

She had underestimated Mortir’s thick skin.

She yawned: I’m not talking anymore, I’m going to sleep. Happy New Year, my jealous hubby. I’ll love you every day in the future.

Seeing those words, Mortir raised an eyebrow, very pleased. His long, slender fingers tapped the screen a few tis.

Holly received a text notification for a 5,200 yuan transfer.

Just then, another ssage ca from Mortir: Honey, I love you. I love you every day. I loved you in my past life, I love you in this life, and I’ll love you in the next.

Reading the sweet nothings from Scholar Quincy, Holly hugged her blanket and chuckled aloud.

’Scholar Quincy was good at everything, but his sweet-talking skills could use so work.’

Having been "scorned" by his girl, Scholar Quincy took a screenshot of her text, pixelated the two words "jealous hubby," and posted it on his social dia with the caption: Happy New Year.

Zeke Zane, who clicked on it the second it was posted: "..."

’He knew that anyti Mortir posted sothing recently, it was just to show off his relationship. So why did he still click on it?’

’My hand just had to slip!’

’Mortir, can you just piss off?’

Sylvia: Emphasis! I want to see the two hidden words.

Mortir replied to Sylvia very cheekily: It’s too sweet. I’m afraid you couldn’t handle it, you single dog.

Sylvia: ...

...

From the first to the eighth day of the Lunar New Year, Holly Winslow accompanied Wyatt Winslow on daily visits to relatives, collecting quite a few red envelopes. This year, she received a total of 10,000 yuan in red envelopes. Besides the large one from Mortir, Wyatt gave her 2,000, and Joan Sawyer gave her 2,000, of which 1,000 was from Mortir.

She got to keep it all.

Now a little rich girl, Holly received her school start notice on the ninth day of the New Year.

Julian Carlton had called Wyatt Winslow to tell him that she should report to Jarton High on the eleventh to start classes. As for the tuition, it was still to be paid to Jarton Second High.

Wyatt transferred the tuition fee to Julian Carlton that very day. He also took Holly to Jarton Second High to move her things out of the dormitory.

That evening, when Iris Kensington and Anna Willow heard the news that Holly was transferring, their group chat exploded. They clamored to et up and hang out the next day.

Holly agreed.

She went out early the next morning to hang out.

Registration for Jarton High’s current students was on the tenth. Mortir, who had originally planned to take his girl with him to register and pay the fees, ca up empty and had to go to the school to register alone.

Anna Willow and Iris Kensington both wore new outfits that day. Their hair was down, and they wore identical hair clips.

They flanked Holly, each linking an arm with hers. Neither of them said anything about being sad to see her go or trying to make her stay. Anna pulled a hair clip from her bag and put it in Holly’s hair. "Holly, let

put this on you. I bought them when I was out during the New Year. There’s one for each of us."

"No matter where you go, Ellie and I will always be your best friends."

Iris Kensington chid in, raising a fist. "Holly, if anyone bullies you, you have to tell

and Anna. We’ll curse them out so bad they won’t be able to stand up straight."

Anna Willow nodded in agreent. "I’ll bring my brother to back you up, Holly."

Holly was very touched, but on the outside, she just laughed heartily. Squeezing their arms, she said teasingly, "Alright, since Anna and Ellie are being so loyal, I’ll give you each a complete set of college entrance exam practice tests. I’ve already bought them online, so be sure to watch for the delivery."

"You two have to work hard, okay? Try your best so we can all be at the sa university."

At the ntion of college entrance exam practice tests, Iris and Anna both looked completely overwheld. The howork they’d had over the winter break had already made them surrender.

Iris’s face fell. "I was so sad about you leaving, but after hearing that, all my sadness is gone! Holly, you’re so an! Anna, get her!"

Instantly, Anna and Iris ganged up to tickle her, and the three of them started roughhousing on the street.

They spent the whole day out, buying several new spring outfits. Two of them were gifts from Anna and Iris, and in return, Holly bought bracelets for them.

It was already very late when she got ho. Wyatt Winslow was in the living room reading the newspaper. He looked up at her. "Have you eaten?"

"I have. What about you, Dad?" Holly put her things down, sat next to Wyatt, and poured herself a glass of water.

Wyatt said, "I’ve eaten."

He pursed his lips, his tone suggesting a proposal. "Holly, I’d like you to board at the school. It’s not safe coming ho so late."

He had thought of this yesterday but had hesitated, worried about how Holly would react.

Hearing this, Holly didn’t object. She nodded obediently and smiled. "Dad, when I go off to school, you have to eat your als on ti, or your stomach will hurt." She linked her arm with his coaxingly.

Wyatt just grunted in response.
