Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Principles Follow Looks

Anna Willow and Iris Kensington quickly lost their composure. The genius ’cousin’ picked up a pork rib for Holly, carefully brushing the few scallions off the top and into his own bowl.

Now *that* was so serious boyfriend energy.

Iris Kensington couldn’t help but whisper to Anna Willow, "Am I crazy, or is there sothing going on between Holly and her ’cousin’? My moral compass must be totally broken."

"It’s normal, totally normal. Your principles are just following his pretty face. Now, picture Clark York’s face on him instead. Still feel the sa way?" Anna Willow licked her spoon and blinked.

Iris Kensington shuddered. The thought of Clark York sent a wave of revulsion through her, and she frantically shook her head.

’Feel the sa way? I’d be lucky if I didn’t throw up.’

The two of them thought they were whispering, but Holly Winslow and Mortir Quincy heard every single word.

Holly Winslow: "..."

Mortir Quincy raised an eyebrow, quite pleased with Iris Kensington’s "misconception."

...

Iris Kensington walked out of the school store carrying a huge bag of snacks, feeling like she was in a dream.

She couldn’t resist pulling Holly Winslow aside. "Holly, is your ’cousin’s’ family new money or sothing?"

Holly Winslow: "..."

"No. He’s a human ATM."

She had never once heard Mortir Quincy complain about money. That’s why, when he worked as a lawyer, he basically only took on cases according to his own whims.

Iris Kensington: "..."

Anna Willow: "..."

Anna Willow suddenly blurted out, "Holly, are there any more premium human ATMs like your ’cousin’? If so, hook

up with one. I don’t want to struggle anymore."

Holly Winslow couldn’t help but grin, patting her friend’s back consolingly. "Girl, you can dream on."

’A premium human ATM like him... In my past life, he was the only one I ever saw.’

...

After seeing them back to their classroom, it was ti for Mortir Quincy to return to Jarton High. He would be taking a shuttle provided by Jarton Second High and had refused the principal’s offer to see him off personally.

Holly Winslow, reluctant to see him go, walked him to the school gate to wait for his ride.

"Hey, kid, hold on. My stomach’s acting up. I need to use the restroom."

The middle-aged driver grabbed a wad of tissues from the van and hurried back into the school.

The black van was parked just inside the school gate. The two of them were standing on the side of it, hidden in a blind spot. Besides, by this ti, most students had returned to their classrooms for their afternoon nap, so there was hardly anyone around.

Alone at last, Mortir Quincy wasted no ti wrapping his arm around Holly Winslow’s waist. He pressed her against the van door, lowered his head, and gave her a peck on the lips. "Wife."

It wasn’t their first kiss, but it was the first ti they’d kissed at the school gate. Holly Winslow glanced around nervously, pushing against his shoulders. "Mortir Quincy, let go of ."

"Call

Hubby." Dissatisfied with her form of address, Mortir Quincy bent down slightly, using one hand to lift her flushed face, which looked just like a tempting peach.

’For a second there, I really just wanted to strip off this uniform and take her.’

Forced to tilt her head back, Holly Winslow subconsciously gripped his uniform. "Hubby."

A tingling warmth spread through his chest. Mortir Quincy cursed under his breath, "Fuck." He pulled her in tighter and lowered his head to kiss her again.

A few minutes later, hearing the sound of hurried footsteps, Mortir Quincy quickly buttoned up Holly Winslow’s slightly open collar.

By now, Holly Winslow’s face was so red it felt like it could start bleeding.

"Sorry about that, my stomach bug kept

a little longer than expected."

The driver noticed the female student had her head buried in her chest. "What’s wrong, miss? You’re not feeling well?"

"N-nothing’s wrong. I’ll be going now." Holly Winslow didn’t dare to look up, terrified that he would notice sothing was off.

Mortir Quincy grabbed her arm. She shot him a glare, and he just chuckled softly. He quickly pulled a bank card from his pocket and slipped it into hers. "The PIN is your birthday. Be good at school, alright? Buy whatever you want to eat. You don’t need to be frugal."

"I don’t want it." Holly Winslow imdiately tried to pull it out and give it back.

Mortir Quincy held her hand down, whispering in her ear, "If my wife doesn’t take it, I’ll just have to kiss you."

Clutching the card, Holly Winslow scrambled away in a panic.

...

「Jarton High」

It was already 1:12 p.m., with only eight minutes until class started.

After the lunch nap, the hallways were quiet, as most students were still sleeping.

The Rocket Class’s classroom was right next to the sophomore teachers’ office.

Just as Mortir Quincy was about to enter the classroom, Gabe Chaucer walked out of the office, ready to wake his students up.

"Mortir Quincy, you’re back?"

Mortir Quincy stopped in his tracks. "Yeah."

"Wait on the veranda for a mont, I want to have a word with you." Gabe Chaucer stood at the classroom entrance and knocked on the green iron door. "Alright everyone, up on your feet. Shake off the sleep."

Only when he saw the students lifting their heads did he turn to speak with Mortir Quincy.

Gabe Chaucer glanced at Mortir Quincy, looking like he wanted to say sothing but was hesitating. Finally, he asked in a roundabout way, "Mortir Quincy, how was giving the speech at Jarton Second High?"

"It was fine."

Mortir Quincy knew what he wanted to ask. Without waiting for the question, he stood ramrod straight and said, "Mr. Chaucer, I’m in a relationship. It won’t affect my studies."

’In their past life, his wife had always held a grudge about the fact that she was the one who pursued him. While they lived together, they would occasionally bicker over little things.’

’She would always repeat the sa line: "Mortir Quincy, you only treat

like this because you know I was the one who fell for you first."’

’And every ti, he’d be the one to back down first.’

’But whether he replied or stayed silent, his wife was never satisfied.’

’Eventually, he got smart and learned to resolve their fights in bed.’

’Now it was his turn to take the initiative. Let’s see what his wife could say about that.’

Gabe Chaucer: "..."

’One trip to Jarton Second High, and his prize student was already dating?’

"Alright, then bring her by so other day..." ’Wait, no!’

He imdiately changed his tune, putting on the air of a strict teacher. "Ahem. Mortir Quincy, you need to focus on your studies. Dating at this age will affect your grades."

"Mr. Chaucer, it won’t affect my studies."

Mortir Quincy was firm. A mont later, the corners of his lips quirked up. "Mr. Chaucer, I’ll bring her to see you after graduation."

Gabe Chaucer: "..."

He cleared his throat, feeling like this conversation was going nowhere. He waved a hand dismissively. "Just get to class. We can talk about introductions after you graduate."

It was only after watching Mortir Quincy walk into the classroom that he realized what had just happened. ’What do I an, "talk about introductions after you graduate"? I should have been sternly forbidding him from dating!’

After a mont’s thought, he decided to call Mortir Quincy’s parents. When the call connected, he said amiably, "Hello, is this Mortir Quincy’s father? I’m his horoom teacher, Gabe Chaucer."

On the other end of the line, Andre Quincy heard this and waved for the others in the room to be quiet. "Yes, hello, Mr. Chaucer. Is sothing the matter?"

"Well, it’s like this. Mortir Quincy is doing very well in his studies, it’s just that... he might have recently started dating."

Gabe Chaucer was worried Andre Quincy would be angry to hear his son was dating, so he praised Mortir first before breaking the news, hoping it would soften the blow.

However, Andre Quincy didn’t sound angry at all. "Mr. Chaucer, I’ve t the girl. She’s quite sweet."

Gabe Chaucer: "???"

He was starting to get flustered.

He said sternly, "Mr. Quincy, dating at this age can affect his studies. Many students have had their academic careers ruined because of it."

On the other end of the line, Andre Quincy asked while signing a docunt, "Have Mortir’s grades slipped?"

"No, in fact, they’ve gone up a few points." Despite his stern tone, Gabe Chaucer’s voice held a note of pride.

’He’d taught so many classes over the years, but Mortir’s grades were the best he’d ever seen.’

"Then you can rest assured, Mr. Chaucer. There won’t be any impact."

The calm voice of the middle-aged man on the other end of the line left Gabe Chaucer speechless.

...

The weather grew colder, and soon everyone had switched to thick, padded jackets.

The classroom doors and windows were shut tight, but it was still so cold that everyone’s hands and feet were stiff.

Holly Winslow blew a puff of warm air into her palms before starting her English pop quiz. Two hours felt especially long and grueling on a winter day.

After Clara Zane finished collecting the papers, the students below all started murmuring about how cold it was. She said, "If you’re cold, stand up and move around a bit, but keep your voices down. Class isn’t over yet."

She then sat down at the teacher’s desk, picked up a red pen, and started grading. The first paper was Holly Winslow’s. Three or four minutes later, she had a score: one hundred and thirty-eight.

On the last test, she had only scored one hundred. Now she had improved by over thirty points. Clara Zane looked on with gratification at Holly Winslow, who was already bent over her next assignnt.

After class, she returned to the teachers’ office with the tests. Seeing Julian Carlton walk in, she praised, "Mr. Carlton, Holly Winslow has made huge progress. She scored a one hundred and thirty-eight on the English test this ti."

Hearing this, Julian Carlton added his own praise. "That kid, Holly Winslow, it’s like sothing just clicked for her. I’m going to make a point of praising her at the upcoming parent-teacher conference."

It wasn’t just English, either. Holly Winslow was improving in all her subjects. Her teachers tallied up her scores from the recent pop quizzes, and her total was already close to five hundred and fifty.

The real test, however, would be the midterms.

Soon, the math teacher, David Lewis, walked in from outside, his voice filled with unconcealed excitent. "The results for the National Mathematical Olympiad are out! Mortir Quincy took first place! The prize is ten thousand yuan, and I heard Jarton High is giving him another five thousand as a bonus."

Julian Carlton couldn’t help but click his tongue in admiration. "Tsk, tsk. If I had a student like that, I’d probably wake up laughing in my sleep."

Then he added, "But Holly Winslow is doing great, too."

...

When Wyatt Winslow received the call from Julian Carlton, he was in the middle of directing workers, with machines ROARING all around him.

He quickly moved to a slightly quieter spot. "Mr. Carlton."

"Hello, Mr. Winslow. The school is holding a parent-teacher conference for all grades. We’d like to understand our students’ situations at ho to better tailor our teaching thods."

"It’s this Friday, starting at 1:00 p.m. Will you be able to make it?"

"Yes," Wyatt Winslow confird.
