Chapter 128: Chapter 128: The Fatal Blow of a Rich Kid’s Puppy Love

As everyone watched, Holly Winslow blew out the candles, cut the first piece of cake, and gave it to Gabe Chaucer at the back of the classroom. "Teacher Chaucer, this is for you."

Gabe Chaucer accepted it graciously, taking the cake with a smile. "Happy eighteenth birthday. I hope you’ll always be happy."

"Thank you, Teacher." Holly Winslow smiled genuinely.

Gabe Chaucer knew the students wouldn’t be able to relax with him around, so he picked up his cake and headed back to his office. Before leaving, he added, "Make sure you clean up the classroom before evening self-study starts."

The implication was that they could have their fun for now, but they had to get serious when it was ti to study.

Senior year was tough, after all. He might as well let them have their fun for once.

As soon as the back door closed, the boys went wild and started a cake fight.

Paul Powell dipped his finger in so frosting and slowly sidled up to Luna Lynch. "Can I sar a little on you? I hear it brings happiness."

Luna Lynch pushed up her glasses. "Mhm," she mumbled, her ears turning red.

Paul Powell grinned, reached out, and dabbed a bit of cream on her face. Taking advantage of the surrounding chaos, he confessed, "Luna Lynch, I like you."

With that, he bolted.

Luna Lynch’s face turned completely red.

Pantheon, a fellow single guy, had just been force-fed a dose of public affection. He scooped up a handful of cream and went after Paul Powell. "Zeke Zane, let’s get him!"

The classroom had beco a brutal battlefield.

Laughing, Holly Winslow pulled Mortir Quincy out of the classroom to escape.

「On the balcony」

Mortir Quincy watched his wife’s happy, toothy grin and raised an eyebrow. He took sothing out of his pocket, clenched it in his fist, and brought it to her lips. "Wife, I’ll do a magic trick for you. Blow a little magic on it, and your birthday present will appear."

"Don’t try to fool . I’m not a kid."

Despite her words, Holly Winslow still blew on his hand. "Hehe," she giggled, chanting, "Hocus pocus! Change!"

’So silly.’

Mortir Quincy chuckled. His hand remained clenched as he said with a roguish grin, "Not enough. Looks like your husband has to help blow on it."

He blew on his own hand and then opened his fingers. Two rings appeared before her.

Holly Winslow froze. A few seconds passed before she realized—they were wedding rings.

She held out her hand with a playful huff. "Miles, put it on for ."

’Another new nickna.’ Mortir Quincy wore a resigned expression, but his eyes overflowed with adoration.

"Yes, Your Majesty."

Mortir Quincy slipped the ring on her finger and added, "Wife, let’s take the college entrance exams together, go to college together, get married together, and have kids together."

When she heard the part about "having kids," Holly Winslow knew what his real focus was. "..."

Suddenly, Pantheon and the others rushed out, sared a handful of cream on Mortir Quincy’s face, and imdiately bolted.

They had just provoked the tiger, after all.

The cream got in Mortir Quincy’s eye, making him look like a one-eyed pirate.

Holly Winslow let out a wicked laugh. The next second, cream was sared across her face. "Mortir Quincy," she feigned fury, "you are so dead!"

The two of them began to playfully fight on the balcony.

...

The aftermath of the cake fight was that everyone had to return to their dorms to shower and wash their hair. Mortir Quincy, who disliked the feeling of damp hair, ran his fingers through his, shaking it gently to help it dry faster.

Chase Hawkins, who was behind him, was blinded by sothing reflective. He squinted, and—holy shit, it was a ring.

SHIT SHIT SHIT!!

A RING!!

He instinctively fumbled in his drawer for his phone, only to rember after a mont that it had been confiscated. He quickly scribbled a note and passed it to Holly Winslow, whispering, "Cousin, pass this to Zeke Zane for , thanks."

Mortir Quincy tilted his head slightly, shooting him a death glare.

eting that murderous gaze, Chase Hawkins was speechless. "..."

’Was that really necessary? I was just passing a note.’

’He’s acting like he’s catching her in an affair.’

’My cousin will never find a boyfriend with a guy like *you* acting as her "cousin"!’

*Ahem*, of course, he didn’t dare say this out loud. He had no desire to be on blackboard-cleaning duty again.

Just as Holly Winslow reached for the note, Mortir Quincy snatched it and tossed it roughly onto Zeke Zane’s desk. "If you’ve got a death wish, go ahead and pass a reply back!"

Zeke Zane and Pantheon were speechless. "..."

After reading the note, their eyes went wide. They whipped their heads around to look at Mortir Quincy’s hand and, sure enough, there was a ring.

"..."

Then they looked over at Holly Winslow. She wasn’t wearing one on her finger, but a ring adorned with beautiful little diamonds was hanging from a chain around her neck.

’A rich kid in a high school romance... That’s a critical hit.’

’Fuck.’

Their intense staring made Holly Winslow a little embarrassed, and she rubbed the tip of her nose with the end of her pen.

"What’re you looking at? Go look in a mirror."

Gabe Chaucer, who had entered the room at so point, smacked Pantheon and Zeke Zane on the head with a book.

Pantheon and Zeke Zane winced in pain. "..."

’Old Shaw, that’s a personal attack!’

Seeing his friends get hit, Paul Powell couldn’t help but let out a snort of laughter. A second later, he got a smack from Gabe Chaucer as well. "Still laughing? Take a look at your final English exam score. Mr. Webb said that if you slide any further, not even a rocket could save your grade."

Paul Powell was speechless. "..."

After doling out his admonishnts, he turned to Mortir Quincy and asked kindly, "Are we having the dictation today?"

"Mhm." Mortir Quincy took the required vocabulary list and walked up to the lectern.

The entire class saw the ring on his hand, and naturally, so did Gabe Chaucer.

’At first glance, he almost looks like a married man.’

Holly Winslow felt a pang of guilt. She discreetly tucked the ring from her necklace inside her shirt and pulled her collar up higher.

That rascal Mortir Quincy, however, showed no signs of toning it down. Instead, he just shot her a look with a raised eyebrow and announced, "Let’s begin the dictation."

After the dictation, Mortir Quincy took the notebooks to the office. Gabe Chaucer called out to him just as he was about to leave.

Gabe Chaucer cleared his throat awkwardly. "That’s a nice-looking ring."

He assud that with this comnt, Mortir Quincy would get the hint and be more discreet about it in the future.

The boy simply nodded. "Yeah."

Gabe Chaucer was at a loss for words. "..."

After struggling for a mont, he finally just waved his hand, dismissing him.

’What else could I do? I can’t just co out and tell him to take off the ring and stop dating, can I?’

’What if it affects his studies and his grades drop? That would be no good.’

’Ahem. Mostly, it’s that Mortir Quincy’s grades are good enough to earn him so leniency.’

Little did he know that not long after, Mortir Quincy’s grades really would "slip."

...

After being cooped up for over half a month, the seniors were getting restless. They started using all sorts of ridiculous excuses to ask for leave and get a breath of fresh air.

To control the situation, the school limited each class to only five leave passes per month, which made getting out even more difficult.

"Aargh! This is driving

crazy!"

That was the sixth ti Pantheon had yelled that today. Zeke Zane, already feeling stir-crazy, was getting annoyed by the noise. He kicked him irritably. "Mutt, shut up!"

Just then, Paul Powell turned around. "Pantheon, why don’t you fake being sick? I can take you out to ’see a doctor.’"

’That’s actually a good idea.’

Pantheon: "..."

He rolled his eyes at him. "Why don’t you do it?"

"Sigh, I’m a big dude. I don’t look like I’d ever get sick. If I claid I was, Old Shaw would probably just give

a couple of kicks."

Paul Powell chuckled. "But you’re so ’delicate.’ It’ll definitely work for you."

"Get lost! Fuck you!" Pantheon kicked him irritably.

In the end, Pantheon went along with the plan. To make his face look pale, he even borrowed so correction fluid from Holly Winslow.

Paul Powell supported him as they headed to the office to ask for a leave pass.
