Reborn with Infinity Money System, I was Worshipped by All Universes! Chapter 287 - Chapter284-That’s a Deathworm! And You Still W
"No worries," Velen said casually.
"I'll send soone to go have a 'chat' with your father—see if we can extend your stay a little longer."
At the Provon Family Castle…
"Family Head, please don't!"
"That lord doesn't seem to have any ill intentions toward the young master. If he wanted to hurt him, he could've done it already!"
"If you contact him now, I'm afraid soone might co over to 'negotiate' with you directly!"
The guard captain, Pulitzer, was nearly in tears as he tried to stop the Provon family head from using a communication stone to summon Karos back.
"Silence!"
"Pulitzer! As Karos's sworn guardian knight, you abandoned your post during a crisis. What punishnt do you think you deserve?!"
Provon Sullivan roared in fury.
"Family Head, if I hadn't run, I wouldn't care if I died—but the young master would've died too!"
Pulitzer's voice trembled with frustration.
Why wouldn't the Family Head believe him?! That man was terrifying beyond asure!
"L-Lord! Look behind you!"
Pulitzer suddenly backed away in fear, pointing a shaking finger behind Sullivan.
"Enough! What's there to look at?! The damn scythe's already on my neck—what, do you want to watch myself get beheaded?!"
Sullivan shouted back, his voice cracking as he tried to calm himself.
"Let's discuss sothing real quick,"
A voice like ice floated over his shoulder.
"Mind letting your son stay with my master a few more days?"
The red-haired man—The One-Eyed—grinned wide, his blood-hued scythe gleaming with quiet nace.
Back on Planet Diven, in the Provon Family Residence…
"Lord Velen," Karos said after ending a transmission, his eyes full of disbelief. "My father is a Star-tier powerhouse—he never goes back on his word. What did your person say to make him change his mind?"
"That's a secret," Velen replied with a smile.
Then, without another word, he pulled a Deathworm out of his system space.
The evening was approaching. It was the perfect ti for a fine al, a bottle of wine, and so well-earned rest.
"Gods above…"
"That's a Deathworm?!"
Velen stared in disbelief at the blood-red, palm-sized creature that looked… suspiciously like a plump, angry crawfish.
"System, mind giving a reasonable explanation?"
Velen muttered internally, regaining his composure.
Ding! Reminder: Deathworm at becos delicious only when the creature dies under abnormal conditions!
…Huh?
I asked why the Deathworm looked like a freaking crayfish, and you're over here giving gourt cooking tips?!
Velen sighed—he had no doubt the system was doing this on purpose.
"Abnormal conditions?"
"So it only qualifies if it bites soone or a spellbeast… and dies within one minute?"
His eyes turned to Karos, who was currently staring at the Deathworm in pure horror.
"Deathworm…"
"One of the most common—and terrifying—creatures in the Singularity Battlefield…"
Karos froze as he stared at the insectoid monstrosity in Velen's hand.
He had once nearly died from a Deathworm bite. He'd only survived because he was bitten again by a second one within a minute—which, according to obscure family records, was the only reason he lived.
Before he could snap out of his flashback—
"OW!"
Karos yelped in pain as the Deathworm bit into his thumb.
"Lord Velen!!!"
"That's a Deathworm! If I don't die within a minute, it dies. And if it dies, I die too!"
Karos scread in panic.
But before he could process it further, he saw Velen grab another Deathworm and let it bite him too.
Karos was utterly stunned.
The Singularity Battlefield didn't allow any living creatures to be taken out. And according to the family's secret records, Deathworms were a battlefield-exclusive species.
How in the world did Velen have live specins?
Why did he have so many?
And why was he letting them bite people?!
"Wait, wait, wait!"
"Lord Velen… what are you doing?!"
Karos backed away in terror as Velen tossed aside the dying Deathworms and calmly took out another live one.
"Kendrix, say sothing! Help stop him! This isn't a joke!"
Karos cried out desperately. If he weren't sure he'd lose in a fight, he would've jumped out the window already.
"Relax, Karos," Velen said, chuckling as he approached.
"I've got a lot of Deathworms, and they need to die under abnormal conditions to be edible. So I'm borrowing your fingers."
"…Edible?"
Karos was about to lose it.
This horrifying thing—he wanted to cook it?!
"Lord Velen!!!"
Karos practically exploded.
He wanted to shout: Kendrix has more at! Let them bite him instead!
He eats more anyway—these things would suit him perfectly!
Nearby, Kendrix's rotund body began trembling slightly.
He'd originally thought Velen was just joking, but now the man wasn't even sparing the dead worms.
Looking at the monstrous creatures, Kendrix whispered to himself, "I don't care if I starve—I'm never putting that thing in my mouth…"
After being bitten by twenty Deathworms, Karos collapsed onto the floor, panting.
Then he saw Velen pull out another one.
"Lord Velen…"
"How many of those do you have?!"
"Not many," Velen replied nonchalantly.
"Just around… a thousand."
"To be honest, I'm actually worried we won't have enough for the three of us at dinner."
Not enough?
WHO THE HELL WANTS TO EAT THESE THINGS?!
You already let them bite —now you want to eat them too?!
Looking at the pile of dead Deathworms on the floor, Karos suddenly found himself hosick.
He used to think traveling with Velen was better than being forced to spend lavishly at ho…
But now?
He'd gladly go back to a life of forced luxury over this nightmare.
Bitten by bugs, then eat the bugs?
This is highway robbery!
Karos suddenly bolted from the room.
"Master Karos!"
"What are you doing?!"
Outside in the courtyard, Norson was ditating when Karos swooped in and lifted him off the ground.
Norson was stunned. He was trying to recover his mana!
Inside the room, both Velen and Kendrix stared blankly as Karos stord back in—carrying the old steward in his arms.
"Kendrix! Stop dawdling and co sit!"
Karos set Norson down and sat cross-legged.
Kendrix followed, still dazed.
The three of them sat in a row, and Velen blinked in confusion.
What the hell was Karos planning now?
"Go ahead, Lord Velen!"
"Release the rest of the Deathworms and let them bite us now!"
"One by one takes too long—at this rate we'll never be done before dark!"
Karos spoke with conviction.
Since he had to suffer, soone else was going down with him.
Why should he be the only one to suffer?!
"Gods above…"
"That's a Deathworm!"
Norson's face turned pale as Velen released a massive swarm of nine hundred-plus Deathworms.
These were one of the most feared creatures from the Singularity Battlefield!
Seeing the horrifying horde approaching, Norson scread and tried to flee.
"Let go!"
"Karos, Kendrix—release !"
"You young people have strange hobbies! My old bones can't handle this kind of torture!"
But the two had already latched onto his legs like iron shackles.
"Grandpa Norson, you can't leave!"
"If you go, each of us will have to take over a hundred extra bites!"
"And honestly, the bites are nothing. The real challenge is eating them later. We're counting on you to help devour more of them!"
