"Kris, now that they know who you are, do you really think they'll lay a hand on you again?"

"And besides, this is a proper fortress! You think just because you want ten more jugs of wine, we'd beat you up again? What kind of people would that make us?"

Velen spoke with righteous indignation.

Hearing that, Kris was so moved he almost burst into tears.

His eyes sparkled with hope as he looked at Velen. "Your Highness, then the wine…"

Before he could finish, Velen cut him off.

"No more wine. That little bit of bruising was already worth ten jugs."

Heartbroken.

Kris's soul practically shattered on the spot.

If he could do it all over again, he'd absolutely shout:

"Co on! Beat like you an it! Just leave breathing!"

"Velen, you didn't co back just to check in, did you?"

Anastasia narrowed her eyes at him, instantly suspicious.

With how well she knew him, she was sure he was up to sothing.

"Haha, Anastasia, you really know best!"

As he spoke, Velen started pulling out Spatial Portals from his system inventory—one after another.

Kris's eye twitched watching the miniature portals pile up into a mountain.

Is this lunatic actually going to squander all of these priceless items?

Anastasia's words from earlier echoed in his head.

This guy was the real deal.

Not flexing wealth—just pure, unfiltered squandering.

"There are 9,900 Spatial Portals here. Once activated, you can go to any place you've been before—including specific items or objects."

"Your mission is to burn through them all as fast as possible."

"But rember: keep at least one on you. Once they're gone, you'll have to fly back the old-fashioned way."

"And absolutely no hoarding."

With that, Velen activated a portal and vanished from sight.

9,900 of them?

Kris was stunned.

Uno Kingdom had spent tens of thousands of years trading and collecting from other kingdoms—yet they had barely managed to stockpile just over 10,000!

And this guy wanted to burn through almost that many in a single go?!

"Anastasia!"

"Your subordinate Velen is out of his mind! Aren't you going to stop him?"

Sure, none of these Spatial Portals belonged to Kris, but the very thought of so many being wasted broke his heart.

"I've lost count of how many tis I've heard that," Anastasia replied calmly.

"Sir Kris, if I could stop him, don't you think I would've already tried?"

"It's just that he gives too many—"

She paused mid-sentence, then turned to Kris with a raised brow.

"Let ask you sothing, Sir Kris. Say you were Velen's ntor. If he gave you 1,000 jugs of fine wine… would you stop him?"

"I'd definitely…"

Kris stopped mid-sentence, realization dawning on his face.

A bitter smile crept up.

"…Would you like help with those Spatial Portals?" he asked with a sigh.

Uno Kingdom, Royal Capital

Thunder Knight Commander's Manor

Hmm?

As the Thunder Knight Commander was polishing his Twin Thunder Hamrs, a spatial rift suddenly opened nearby.

He imdiately gripped his weapons, bracing for battle.

"Who goes there? Show yourself!"

"Whoa there, Old Thunder, relax—it's just !"

Kris's voice echoed out as he stepped through, grinning.

Thunder Knight Commander was stunned.

What the hell?

You left to protect the prince and took two Spatial Portals with you.

One to get there, one in reserve.

How the hell did you end up using both… and then so??

"Holy crap!"

"What happened to your face? Who beat you up?"

"That's not important!"

"What matters is—they didn't hit hard enough! I wish they'd done more!"

With that, Kris activated another Spatial Portal and vanished again.

Another one?!

You've got three?

Thunder Knight Commander stood there in utter disbelief.

And then—

"Hahahaha!"

"Old Thunder, I'm back again! Surprised? Delighted?"

"But I'm leaving again. Byeee!"

"Guess what? It's again! I'm back!"

"And… gone again! Just having fun!"

"Hey, it's been like five whole seconds. Miss ye—"

SMACK!

Before Kris could finish his twentieth return trip, the enraged Thunder Knight Commander smashed him with the Twin Thunder Hamrs and roared:

"You freaking maniac! These are Spatial Portals, and you've already wasted forty of them just to ss with ! I swear I'm gonna smash your squandering face in!"

Back at the fortress.

"Anastasia, if you've got sothing to say, just say it. Stop popping in and out like this—I'm getting heart palpitations!"

Duke Michelstein clutched his chest dramatically as Anastasia stepped out of a portal, looking utterly frazzled.

"Father, I've been away building the fortress for so long. Other than the one ti you ca to visit, I haven't seen you at all. I just wanted to co back and see you."

Duke Michelstein yelled:

"One ti?! You've co back to see like FORTY tis!"

"You're making paranoid! I feel like you could pop up behind at any mont—I'm on edge all the ti!"

Anastasia awkwardly tucked her hair behind her ear.

"Father, aren't you even curious how I got so many Spatial Portals?"

"Even the Ducal Manor only has, what, five hundred?"

"Curious my ass!"

Duke Michelstein snapped.

"It's obviously that squandering brat Velen's doing—what else could it be?!"

"Don't drag into this. Go visit the Five Senators instead! They've got nothing to do these days, bored out of their minds. Every ti soone tries to sneak out, the other four drag him back in!"

"Huh?"

Anastasia blinked.

"What are they trying to sneak out for?"

"Where do you think?"

"To your fortress, of course!"

"What else? They're going there to beg! That place is a freaking goldmine!"

"One of the Senators ca back with a Lv.9 Forge, among other things. The other four were green with envy!"

As he said that, Duke Michelstein's eyes shone with longing.

"…Seriously?"

Anastasia let out a bitter smile.

Yeah, she got it. That was the Velen effect.

"Father, didn't you want to swing by the fortress yourself?"

Duke Michelstein let out a heavy sigh.

"The mont the senator ca back, I tried sneaking out that very night…"

"But the other five caught and dragged back. Then they beat the crap out of !"

"I was so wronged! They had no good reason to stop ! I just wanted to see my daughter!"

"Tell , why shouldn't I be allowed?!"

"…So?"

"Why shouldn't they let you?"

Anastasia tilted her head and looked curiously at her deeply aggrieved father.
