The crowd quickly left the grand hall, leaving only Velen and Anastasia behind.

"Velen, I know you have many secrets, things that no one else knows. We all do. That's why I never questioned you about the Fla Dragon Furnace or the Nine Dragons Cup when you brought them out."

"But today, I must ask—who exactly is that one-eyed, red-haired man to you?"

Anastasia's gaze was sharp and unwavering, as if she were trying to see right through Velen.

Velen, however, remained unfazed by her scrutiny, eting her gaze head-on.

Anastasia, whose temperant was more reserved, was the first to falter and look away.

Velen smiled faintly and nodded. "Actually, he's my guard."

Not a chance!

Anastasia refused to believe it.

That one-eyed, red-haired man was unimaginably powerful—how could he possibly be just a guard for Velen?

Even in the Upper Plane Universe, that man would be an apex existence. Why would soone like him lower himself to serve as Velen's guard?

However, Anastasia didn't press the matter further. Instead, her expression grew solemn as she stared at Velen and asked,

"Why did you approach ? What's your true purpose?"

She spoke seriously. The more special Velen proved to be, the more she felt that his closeness to her had to serve so hidden agenda.

Hearing her sudden question, Velen was montarily stunned.

"Purpose?"

Enjoy new tales from My Virtual Library Empire

"What purpose could I have? I've helped you build Fortress—aside from getting closer to you, what other evil sches could I possibly have?"

Velen countered with a smirk.

Anastasia rolled her eyes.

This man talks way too much!

"Velen, be serious. This isn't a ti for jokes," Anastasia pressed.

She was convinced that Velen was trying to avoid the topic.

"Madam, do you really want to know?"

Velen's eyes twinkled mischievously as he asked.

Anastasia hesitated for a mont but then shook her head.

She still didn't know why Velen had approached her in the first place.

However, based on everything so far, Velen had been nothing but good to her.

He had shown no ill intent toward Fortress or the Ducal Manor.

If he truly bore no malicious intent, then prying too deeply into his secrets might not be a good idea.

"If you don't want to say, then forget it. No matter what, I'll always consider you a friend."

Always a friend?

Velen's expression twitched. Was she giving him a "good person" card?!

No way!

He didn't want to be just friends with Anastasia.

A sly smile crept onto his face as he suddenly asked,

"Madam, have you heard of Celestial Hall?"

Anastasia, who had just started to relax, suddenly froze, her pupils constricting.

"Celestial Hall?"

She muttered, making sure she hadn't misheard.

She was from the Upper Plane Universe, forrly the Saintess of Celestial Hall. Of course, she knew what it was.

But Velen was from the Lower Plane Universe—how could he know about one of the most elite factions of the Upper Plane Universe?

Moreover, his tone wasn't one of re curiosity—it was certain.

Given what she knew of Velen, he never asked about sothing unless he already had so knowledge of it.

Anastasia's curiosity was piqued, but at the sa ti, a faint anxiety crept in.

Did Velen know her true identity?

If he really knew…

As she watched him anxiously, Velen, in contrast, remained utterly calm.

He couldn't read her mind, but the way she was staring at him told him that she was anything but at ease.

"Ahem, Velen, Lord Anastasia, I'm coming in."

At that mont, Corner stepped inside, carrying a tray with a freshly mixed cocktail and so steaming appetizers.

"Hope I'm not interrupting. I just mixed this cocktail and made so snacks—I'm sure they pair well. I'll take my leave now."

Corner gave them a brief glance, stated his reason for coming, and promptly turned around to leave.

But from the way Anastasia had been staring so intently at Velen just now…

Could it be that Anastasia was the one pursuing Velen?!

Just like the rumors suggested—they did have sothing going on!

Feeling rather clever, Corner had deliberately chosen a red rose-thed cocktail, a symbol of romance and ambiguity.

With this, sparks of love would surely fly between them!

When they got together, he would be the one responsible for their love story!

As Corner made his swift exit, Anastasia caught a glimpse of the peculiar look in his eyes.

He had obviously misunderstood her relationship with Velen!

But Anastasia knew that trying to explain things to the senators would be pointless.

The best way to handle rumors was to let them die out naturally.

Sotis, not explaining was better than explaining.

anwhile, Velen, intrigued by the cocktail's rich fragrance, picked up a glass and took a sip.

For soone who rarely drank, he was curious about what a master mixologist could create.

The fiery red liquor went down smoothly—silky and rich, with a pleasant burn at the throat.

Even as soone who didn't typically drink, he had to admit—it was delicious.

A masterpiece worthy of a mixology master!

As Velen savored the drink, Anastasia furrowed her brows, deep in thought.

She had a feeling that since Velen had deliberately ntioned Celestial Hall, he would eventually bring it up again.

If she pressed him now, she might just walk into whatever trap he was setting.

Velen, on the other hand, was surprised that Anastasia managed to hold back.

She had restrained her curiosity—for now.

But he knew her well.

She wouldn't last long.

And sure enough, after a mont, Anastasia unconsciously leaned closer to Velen, picking up a glass of the red cocktail.

She sipped quietly, suppressing the turmoil in her heart.

Celestial Hall ant a lot to her.

After hesitating for a long while, she finally looked at Velen and whispered,

"Velen… about Celestial Hall…"

Seeing that she had finally taken the bait, Velen's lips curled into a victorious smile.

He had found Anastasia's weakness.

Now, taking control of the conversation—and her—would be all too easy.

Of course, he had no intention of revealing her secrets.

Instead, he casually pulled out two special passes from his coat and waved them in front of her.

"Anastasia, I have two Chaos City passes. How about you accompany there?"

Now, he just had to bide his ti—soon, he would have Anastasia completely in the palm of his hand.

Anastasia was smart. The mont Velen dodged her question and changed the topic, she imdiately saw through him.

She wanted to know the truth, but pushing further now would only play into Velen's hands.

So, she followed his lead instead.

"Chaos City—the special zone you ntioned inside the Singularity Battlefield?"

Velen nodded.

"Last ti, I got kicked out because my pass expired. But now, with these two passes, we can finally go on a real spending spree!"

Excitent flashed across his face.

Not being able to splurge last ti had left him seriously unsatisfied.

"But Singularity Battlefield is far from here. Isn't it a waste of ti to travel all the way there?" Anastasia asked.

She was very interested in Chaos City, but the round trip would take too long and disrupt her training.

"This pass should allow us to go directly to Chaos City. We don't have to enter through the Singularity Battlefield."

Velen handed her one of the passes.

"Let's test it out!"

After a brief mont of thought, Anastasia nodded.

If Chaos City was as special as Velen said, then the pass must have unique properties as well.

As the two infused their mana into the passes, a peculiar spatial ripple spread outward like water, engulfing them both.

Under the power of the spatial distortion, they vanished from sight.

When Velen opened his eyes again, he found himself back in the ultra-modern Chaos City, surrounded by towering high-tech buildings.

Even in daylight, neon lights shimred across the cityscape, making it feel like a dreamlike tropolis.

He was thrilled—he had finally made it inside without needing to trek through the battlefield!

But as he scanned the area, his expression darkened.

Anastasia was nowhere to be found.
