Capítulo 907: Chapter 907: Treating the Root of the Problem

Lin Zhiyi looked at the approaching old man, holding Xingxing tightly.

Suddenly, it felt like a gust of wind blew past her.

When she opened her eyes again, Gong Chen was already standing in front of them, reaching out to stop the approaching old man.

“What are you doing?”

The old man seed to wake up from a dream, standing there at a loss, completely unaware of what he had done.

Lin Zhiyi tugged at Gong Chen and said, “The old man didn’t do anything to us, he just said a couple of words. It seed like he was telling us to leave quickly.”

Gong Chen frowned, “I didn’t expect him to forget so many things, yet rember so clearly only the thing about driving you away.”

He called for the butler.

“Take the old man back to rest.”

“Yes.”

The butler stepped forward to help the old man.

After just a couple of steps, the old man turned to stare at Lin Zhiyi.

“Hurry up and leave, hurry up and leave…”

“Understood,” Lin Zhiyi answered helplessly.

Only then did the old man leave with the butler.

For so reason, Lin Zhiyi always felt there was a deeper aning to his words urging them to leave.

“What’s wrong?” Gong Chen noticed Lin Zhiyi spacing out and waved his hand in front of her.

“Nothing, just feeling a bit cold.” Lin Zhiyi held Xingxing’s hand more tightly.

“Let’s go back to the courtyard.”

Gong Chen took off his coat and placed it on Lin Zhiyi’s shoulders, then he himself carried Xingxing in his arms.

Lin Zhiyi smiled, holding onto his arm as they walked away.

“What did you say to Uncle?”

“I handed a few projects to him. With his capability, he can definitely complete them. By then, no one will bring up his past again.” Gong Chen replied.

“Aren’t you afraid of what others might say about you?”

“Then I’ll take the opportunity to resign. Whoever wants the job can take it.”

Gong Chen seed utterly carefree.

Lin Zhiyi chuckled lightly.

After walking a while, they saw Ren Xiya wrapping a scarf around herself coming over.

She tied a knot at her waist with her coffee-colored long trench coat, revealing pointed high heels as she walked.

Elegant and with a unique charm.

“Xiya, where are you going so late?”

“It’s so boring here, I’m heading back. Besides, I don’t understand why the butler arranged for to stay in the courtyard where Gong Yao used to live, it’s annoying.” Ren Xiya pouted.

“Ask the butler to find another room for you. The Gong Mansion has more than a thousand rooms, surely there’s a place for you to sleep?” Lin Zhiyi said.

“Can’t be bothered, I’m leaving.”

Ren Xiya left straightaway.

Lin Zhiyi looked at her back suspiciously.

“Bother?” she repeated.

“Do you believe it?” Gong Chen retorted.

Lin Zhiyi burst into laughter, “I don’t believe it, but wouldn’t it be awkward to expose her? By the way, how are you planning to deal with Xiya?”

Gong Chen said casually, “Ren Xiya can make sothing of herself whether she’s in the Gong Family or not. Like you, she’s a bird flying in the sky, not a caged songbird. But she differs from you in so way.”

“In what way?” Lin Zhiyi asked curiously.

“She treats people like caged songbirds, you don’t.”

“Are you complinting or insulting ?” Lin Zhiyi pursed her lips, and couldn’t help but add, “Speaking of which, she’s been radiant these past few months, her tone much gentler. Seems like soone has found the right dicine for her.”

Apartnt.

The doorbell rang, and Li Huan imdiately opened the door.

Outside, Ren Xiya leaned against the doorfra, lifting her coat to reveal the dress beneath.

“Got ti?” she raised an eyebrow.

“You… I…”

“Don’t waste your breath.”

Ren Xiya pushed Li Huan inside.

Li Huan wrapped his arms around her waist, lifting her up directly.

“Better to act than to respect. But before that, I have sothing for you.”

“What is it?” Ren Xiya asked curiously.

With one hand supporting her, Li Huan opened a nearby drawer with the other and took out a box, handing it to her.

“Your birthday is coming up. I know you’re sensitive about it, so I hope you’ll rember the birthday you spent with .”

Ren Xiya paused before accepting and opening the box.

Inside was a bracelet, simple yet exquisite.

Li Huan said, “I had Lin Zhiyi design it, adding so of my thoughts. Knowing you need to wear a watch, I made sure it wasn’t too flashy, so it can match most of your watches. Do you like it?”

“You…”

Ren Xiya held the box, montarily speechless.

The watches she wore were mostly unisex and not used as accessories.

They served to remind her to always be cautious of n who underestimated her in the business world.

She needed to do better, be more accurate than them…

The man before her didn’t ask her to remove her watch to wear a gentle ornant, instead, he complented her assertiveness.

Ren Xiya handed the box to him, “Put it on for .”

Li Huan placed her on the table, stood before her, and fastened the bracelet next to her watch.

It was made from irregularly shaped gemstones.

Though seemingly random, in reality, Li Huan personally selected the sizes and colors.

He knew the size and color of every watch Ren Xiya owned, aware of which gemstones wouldn’t seem obtrusive.

And he knew which size would look most harmonious on her wrist.

Ren Xiya looked at the bracelet, her eyes softened as she gazed at Li Huan.

“Thank you, I really like it. I’ll always rember this birthday.”

“Mm.”

The atmosphere gradually turned ambiguous, and Li Huan bent down to kiss her.

In the heat of the mont, Li Huan’s phone rang.

Ren Xiya gave him a push, “See if it’s a call from the hospital, in case there’s sothing urgent.”

Li Huan got up to get his phone.

Seeing the number, he imdiately looked at Ren Xiya vigilantly.

Ren Xiya made an OK gesture and went into the bedroom.

It was Li Huan’s mother.

Initially, Li Huan didn’t agree to end things.

He hoped Ren Xiya would give him ti to handle it; Ren Xiya thought it too harsh to deny him with one stroke.

After all, it was she who approached him first.

So she agreed to Li Huan’s proposal.

Afterwards, Li Huan went back and soothed Mrs. Li, then tried to avoid any chance of Mrs. Li and Ren Xiya eting.

For the past few months, everything had been peaceful.

Li Huan answered the call and heard Mrs. Li’s sobs.

“Li Huan, co back quickly, sothing’s happened at ho.”

“What’s wrong?” Li Huan asked in surprise.

“Just co back, hurry ho…”

“I understand.”

Li Huan heard his mother’s urgency, guessing it wasn’t a ploy to lure him ho.

He hung up the phone and turned back into the room.

Ren Xiya was already dressed.

“You should go back. I heard what happened. Your mother wouldn’t call you so late unless it’s urgent.”

“Thank you, go to sleep first. I’ll try to return early, and if not, I’ll bring you breakfast.”

“Okay.”

Ren Xiya watched Li Huan leave.

After lying down, she looked at the bracelet on her wrist and then at the watch on her bedside table.

She sent a ssage to her assistant.

“There’s a n’s watch matching mine, order it for tomorrow.”

Ren Xiya put down her phone, thought for a mont, and picked it up to send another ssage.

“Also, check what’s happened at the Li Family.”

Li Family.

Li Huan had just parked the car when he felt sothing was off at ho.

At this hour, only the small light in the yard should be on, rarely would it be so brightly lit.

Walking a few steps, he noticed other cars parked at the garage.

Fourth Uncle.

Anything involving Fourth Uncle made Li Huan’s head hurt.

He quickened his pace, entering the house.

The butler approached him with a grave expression.

“What’s going on?” Li Huan asked.

“Fourth Master ca over and imdiately knelt down, saying he was sorry to your father and mother.”

“What’s this about?” Li Huan stopped abruptly, turning to look at the butler, “Has my mother given Fourth Uncle money?”

The butler nodded, “According to Fourth Master, it seems like she has, and it seems like a significant amount.”
